Federal prosecutors have announced the indictment and arrest of 20 individuals, most of them sworn law enforcement officers, in the Mississippi Delta region for allegedly conspiring with Mexican drug cartels to smuggle narcotics into the United States. U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner for the Northern District of Mississippi made the announcement at a press conference on Thursday.[snip] The announcement detailed the results of a years-long federal investigation and sting operation in the Mississippi Delta region, resulting in the indictment and arrest of 20 individuals, including 14 current or former law enforcement officers and six co-conspirators.

Unsurprising. A HS friend stayed in the central Florida small city where I went to HS after getting a law degree. Visiting years later we discussed how things were going. She mentioned that they had lost several deputy sheriffs ....just suddenly disappeared and then called a couple of weeks later to have their final paychecks sent to relatives. The story is that these deputies would get approached by someone who offered them money to "be patrolling away from this part of the county when we tell you". The other end was a photo of their kid or kids at a school playground, and "we'd hate for anything to happen to your kids". Their only "out" was to just disappear, leave the state, start a new life far away, moving overnight, address unknown. The cartels say "silver or lead"....and are not at adverse to killing your kids or wife if you won't play along. So, a lot of LE folks play along. This only stops when the cartel folks just are found dead somewhere. Arrested and charged is purely a waste of resources.

Clarification in #1. A local dentist was arrested in that county, landing a small twin on his rural pasture, loaded with drugs. Another twin was forced down by a Customs Aircraft, and he landed on a rural dirt road and set fire to the aircraft and ran into the forest. The deputies were to be patrolling 'elsewhere' when drug planes were landing on rural pasture lands. Today, the radars are too good to get away with flying the drugs in, but they still need LE to 'look away'.

When I started looking into it I was informed that Senator Trent Lott ran things in Mississippi so I looked into it a bit further. Seems his organization there was nick named the "Mississippi Mafia" That told me what I needed to know. I tried to shut down the crooked program and was forced to let it ride. It was a good day this week when Nancy Pelosi announced her intention to retire at the end of this term. There has been speculation for years that she would retire soon, and it is finally happening. The stories of tyrannical government intrusions coming out of China and the U.K. should terrify everyone.  It calls to mind Benjamin Franklin’s quote: “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”  That’s how it starts, with lines like “Two weeks to slow the curve.”  Next thing you know, a year has gone by, and people have lost their jobs because they refused to take the “Fauci Ouchie.” In this context, the push for digital IDs emerges not as a simple technological upgrade, but as a Trojan horse for unprecedented government intrusion.

Lawmakers voted along party lines to confirm the batch of 107 of Trump’s nominees, a move that whittled down the remaining pending nominees on the Senate’s calendar to double digits. Kamala Harris is continuing her push toward yet another run for president, and that's leading to some awkward exchanges. As RedState reported, the failed 2024 Democrat nominee and former vice president is peddling a new book, doing her best to rewrite history in her favor. Part of that requires convincing Americans that she wasn't given a fair shot, both because of Joe Biden's late exit from the race and the dynamics surrounding President Donald Trump. Of course, that's not really the truth, is it? She's going to try, though, and that apparently includes claiming her 2024 campaign was "3D chess" in which she outmaneuvered Trump.

Agents’ vehicles were rammed. Bricks and paint cans were thrown at Border Patrol trucks in the Little Village neighborhood during ongoing immigration operations. The 42-day federal shutdown forced by Democrats thrust the economics of Obamacare into the limelight, and exposed an uncomfortable truth: An insurance industry whose executives are increasingly liberal donors has seen its earnings soar with the injection of taxpayer-funded subsidies that propped up Barack Obama's signature health program from collapse. The nation’s largest health insurance companies have seen good business since Obamacare was first passed in 2010 and fully implemented in 2014. This has come in no small part because of federal government subsidies to the insurance industry, which government estimates show totaled $1.8 trillion in 2023 alone.
