Let’s Be Clear, Republicans Would NEVER
Get Away With A Shutdown Like This

Last November, voters handed control of Congress to Republicans who pledged to cut taxes and spending. In response, Democrats decided to hold the country hostage because they want to borrow and spend $1.5 trillion on illegal immigrants and well-to-do Obamacare enrollees. That is the simplest and most honest way to describe what has been going on since Oct. 1. But you’d hardly know it, given the way the shutdown is talked about. The Senate has had a chance 13 times to vote on a “continuing resolution” that would keep the government operating while lawmakers debate future spending bills, including the Democrats’ wish list.

Republicans are expected to govern honestly. And they usually do. The very opposite applies to Democrats: they are expected to rule corruptly. And they meet that expectation nearly always.

I called The Vince Show (replaced Dan Bongino in his time slot) yesterday and mentioned that all the talk about the poor people on food stamps is misleading as WIC, SNAP, etc are not meant to be a person's or family's sole source of food. His reply was that but people really need this help. Argh!!!! Except that a sizable minority of recipients are not even US citizens. And probably a good number of the citizens getting this help have cell phones, cable or satellite TV, etc.

'Simple & honest'. That accurately describes what the problem is here. For the last two decades increasing level of obfuscation and dishonesty has marked Democrat communication - remember 'if you like your doctor...'? Clarity of statement and talking to ordinary people rather scolding them is what marks Trump's style. One more reason the 'Rats hate him.

SNAP is for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Not essential! From what I read in another article, people are spending their SNAP money on things that are anything but essential, and approximately 1 of 8 Americans are getting SNAP money. It’s apparent SNAP is being abused.

I find nothing about this 'shutdown' that is even mildly inconvenient. Keep it up for another year, as far as I am concerned. Less government is BETTER.

Of course they would never "get away with [it]"! RepubliCAN'Ts would never even try it because they have absolutely NO backbone and their normal MO is waiting to be fleeced. If you think otherwise, let me remind you of how we got stuck with Obamacare. They said: 1." We need the House before we can repeal it" (we gave it to them); 2. "We need the House and the Senate before we can repeal it" (we gave it to them); 3. "We need the House, the Senate, and the presidency before we can repeal it" (we gave it to them)--and here we are still dealing with Obamacare! So don't tell me how wonderful the RepubliCAN'Ts are. They're just as guilty as the Dims!

CNN waved the bloody shirt again. Last week Speaker Johnson took questions from a military spouse (“I’m a Republican”) begging him to end the shutdown for the sake of kids with medical conditions. At the first airing, he calmly, rationally and completely laid out the responsibility for the Shumer shutdown. That was the last time the response was aired despite numerous repeats of the crying spouse.

The largest federal employee union wants to end the government shutdown with “no half measures, and no gamesmanship,” and is demanding that everyone get full back pay. Those who have worked without being paid should be compensated. But those who didn’t should get nothing. “It’s time to pass a clean continuing resolution and end this shutdown today,” the American Federation of Government Employees, which represents 820,000 federal workers, tweeted Monday, and “put every single federal worker back on the job with full back pay — today.” Why should government employees be paid for work they didn’t do?

There’s been a lot of talk in recent weeks about shrinking the federal government workforce. Is this something Americans want? Not necessarily. The latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows that most Americans think the federal workforce should either be larger or the same size. This month’s national online I&I/TIPP Poll, taken from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2, asked 1,459 participants: “Overall, do you think the federal workforce today is: 1) too large and should be reduced; 2) too small and should be expanded; 3) about the right size; and 4) Not sure.” The responses were nearly evenly split

When socialist Zohran Mamdani won the New York City mayoral primary, we said that the concern expressed by some Democrats was phony, because they didn’t want to admit just how far left their party had drifted. Now, they’ve given up that pretense entirely. On Friday, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries endorsed socialist Mamdani, saying the 33-year-old trust fund baby “has relentlessly focused on addressing the affordability crisis and explicitly committed to being a mayor for all New Yorkers.” He’s the most senior-ranking Democrat to do so, but he joins a list that already includes

Of all the things that Democrats have tried to tar President Donald Trump with, none is as petty, stupid and inconsequential as the current flap over remodeling the East Wing of the White House. But since Dems shut down the government, they have nothing else to do these days – apart from inciting their far-left followers to commit violence. These are dangerous times in the world, both abroad and here in the U.S. And yet, here’s California’s too-slick Gov. Gavin Newsom’s comment: “He’s literally destroying the White House.“ No, he’s “literally” not “destroying” the White House. He’s remodeling it.

We have no idea how the government shutdown, now in its fourth week and the second longest in history, will end, or how. But what is increasingly clear is how badly Democrats miscalculated on this one. Consider three bits of news from this week: First, the shutdown isn’t hurting Republicans. In fact, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed that President Donald Trump’s approval rating has ticked up by two points to 42% since the shutdown started. Other polls find it unchanged. The Real Clear Politics average shows Trump’s disapproval at 52%, which is down a point from the day before the shutdown started.

No. In fact, Americans overwhelmingly oppose using violence to achieve political goals, and mostly blame major political parties as equal threats to use violent tactics for the sake of political power, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows. A representative sample of Americans were asked: “Do you believe that using violence to achieve political goals is ever justified?” Respondents made clear they didn’t like violence by either party. Overall, only 9% of those taking the poll said violence for political goals was “always justified,”

The “moral equivalent of war” is often used to elevate an otherwise non-threatening event into an existential threat. But today, the U.S. and indeed, all of Western civilization, faces a very real existential threat, one equal to war: the global collapse of fertility and families. In country after country, the stark, awful news emerges on a nearly daily basis: birth rates are plunging as women disengage from traditional marriage and family life, and young men do the same. The U.S. is no exception. Last year, the U.S. fertility rate plunged to an all-time low of 1.6 children per woman, a rate roughly 24% below the 2.1 children required j

We suppose the silver lining of New York electing an avowed Democratic Socialist as mayor is that we'll get to see how disastrous his socialist policies really are, and that'll discourage the rest of the nation from voting for socialism. But we won't pretend that learning that lesson will be hard, especially for the people of New York who didn't vote for Mamdani. In his latest tax-grab scheme, Zohran Mamdani vows to tax businesses that leave New York and, it seems, any company that merely does business in New York, even if they're headquartered elsewhere.
