Fresh insights into the ecological devastation caused by onshore wind turbines around the world are contained in a shocking new paper published last month by a group of ecologists in Nature. The paper is paywalled and has attracted little mainstream media interest, but it highlights research that illustrates that the effect of utility-scale wind energy production “can be far reaching and sometimes have large and unexpected consequences for biodiversity”. An annual figure of around one million bats are killed in the countries with the highest number of turbines, but harmful effects are seen in many other parts of the ecosystem.

Hmmm. We have a bat house on our front deck. In our 25 years living here, this was the first summer it was uninhabited. I've been wondering about the effect of the turbines in the Altamont Pass,150 miles south of us, on our migratory birds. I no longer see the variety, or large flocks, as I did ten years ago. God help me, but I really hate these evil environmentalists. Pawns of Satan...every one.

In Montana, we called windmills Raptor Cuisinarts. What few people realize, is the amount of oil these things hold, shedding nuts and bolts, which trash farming equipment. Then, once they reach the end of their service life and crap out, guess who is responsible for demolition/disposal? The landowner.

"Proponents of wind power often claim that wind energy’s impacts on biodiversity will be less than climate change"
Ah, but the impact of wind turbine damage is visible and measurable by the dead scattered around the turbines and the definite impact of turbine sound and vibration on people living near them.
On the other hand, "climate change" reality is unproven. None of the predictions are happening as threatened and it is impossible to define impacts of things that have not occured. An example: Sea levels have NOT risen at a faster rate than the historical averages. If it doesn't happen, there is NO impact and no real measurements can be made.
So we have a "problem" that does not provably exist with, so far, nonexistant consequences vs. a "solution" that may not even be a solution if carbon use is not the driver to significant warming and measurable damage being caused by the solution.
This is like telling a kid there are monsters living under his bed and giving him hand grenades to protect against the monsters. What could go wrong? Then, when reasonable people point out that the hand grenades are a really bad solution with significant measurable damage, the Alarmists cry "But the monsters!!!".

Envirowacko's brought on this massive spending spree of solar and wind machines that cost more than they are worth.
A friend placed solar panels on his roof. It cost him $ 30,000 dollars he took out a 2nd. mortgage to pay for them. He brags on how small his electric bill is, but doesn't mention his payment on the 2nd. Mortgage. How many years will it take him to save the $30,000 dollars. Well the solar panels will stop working first.

It doesn't take an expensive study to see all the beached whales and dead birds as a result of this windmills.

They are disgusting. Not only do they ruin the landscape wherever they are "planted," but they are also an environmental disaster, as they are Avian Cuisinart Machines and represent millions of cubic yards of unrecyclable waste which can't be buried, ground up, or burned. Pretty much most of the structure and blades must be dumped at sea to ostensibly produce "artificial reefs" and habitat for the little fishies.
This is what you get when you cede Engineering analysis and problem solving to a bunch of liberal Political Science graduates cum Lobbyists and corrupt Politicians.

The pics in Morrison's piece are heartbreaking. Beautiful birds of prey with their necks broken or wings broken off. Hard to imagine how tree-hugging lefties with eyes can think is very ok. But let me say this - if a mining operation were to cause wildlife mortality like this, the lefties would be all over the mine like flies on crap trying to shut it down. Hypocrisy at its best.

The offshore windmills aren't any better. Beautiful dead whales on the beach are a sign that you can't miss.

I live in southern Kentucky. When I was a little girl, I found crinoid fossils in the field behind the house. Crinoids are marine animals. I was a always a science buff, and started reading and found out that my area used to be a shallow sea. I've never taken climate change alarmism seriously since. Climate changes and will continue to do so no matter what we petty humans do about it.

The envirowackos will scream and cry if a dam is built to produce energy since it will harm the snail darter. A fish nobody ever heard of or has even seen, but they smile with glee at a 300-foot tower of terror that is a meat grinder to every bird that gets near it, is an eye sore, doesn't produce enough energy to power many homes, and needs constant maintenance.
