WASHINGTON — The country’s largest union representing federal workers is calling for lawmakers to pass a short-term spending measure to immediately end the government shutdown, urging Democrats to abandon their current position and join Republicans in supporting a stopgap solution. (Snip) The statement could increase pressure on Democrats to budge from their stance. Senate Democrats have insisted that they won’t vote to reopen the government without a commitment from Republicans and President Donald Trump on extending health care subsidies through the Affordable Care Act, which are set to expire at the end of the year. Without them, health insurance premiums

So the media finally admits its Demmies voting in favor of the shutdown.

Finally, some of the democrats have awakened and now know it is their own party that is going to starve them. Hopefully, this group will get the measured passed and we can get back to so called normal.

Federal unions should be illegal. Even that "great" liberal, FDR, was against Federal unions. As far as the Schumer Shutdown, the longer, the better, especially if PDJT 2.0 keeps using it as a way to purge non-essential employees and programs. Let these people find work in the private sector. Think of all the jobs that are opening up now that we are serious about getting rid of all illegal aliens.

This reaction boils down to one reality - no paychecks = no union dues paid. OMG - we can't have that! This voter cannot wait till half the federal bureaucracy is laid off.

The Democrats cannot work out anything to stop the shutdown, when it is over and they actually work on the budget, what other surprises will they have for us. It's going to be a long tough road getting a budget passed that doesn't include raising the national Debt to $40 Trillion dollars.

Don't fall for the union tricks, they only care because they see many of their "members" getting laid off which will result in less due paying. I'm sure this isn't because they care about the "members" not getting paid short term, besides they probably still owe the dues even if not working.

From the article, "“Because when the folks who serve this country are standing in line for food banks after missing a second paycheck because of this shutdown..." Wait, if they are standing in food lines, they aren't working. Why should I and millions of working taxpayers pay Federal union employees for not working?

Historically, democrats have always done what the unions want. No union dues, no democrat kickbacks and donations. They have already had most major sources of income to their party cut off. #2 spells out our parasite problem nicely. I would not have been so kind.

FYI - not all federal employees are actual due paying members. Many are covered by the union and the agreement worked out between the agency and the Union - they just don't have any say in voting, etc. And just this morning I watched Maria Bartiromo interview Rep Ro Khanna of CA discuss the shutdown and he kept repeating that illegal aliens do not receive any of the ACA subsidies they're fighting for and even Marjorie Taylor Green is expressing her concerns about these TEMPORARY subsidies not being continued. Also, he also said twice that what we really need is "Medicare for all" and Maria never once challenged him on that. Yup - single payer healthcare.

Have a theory that an agreement has been reached on the shutdown, but Washington is sitting on it. They want to milk the crisis for all it's worth. Why do I think an agreement has been reached? Prices are going up again. Large bag of cat food went from $36.00 to $41.50 in the last two weeks. They will reopen the government without resolving any of the out of control spending. They kicked the can down the road again. End result: More inflation.

I recall during one of the Reagan shutdowns one of the major news networks interviewed a welfare recipient who complaned that she wasn't getting her "paycheck" These poor government employees live paycheck to paycheck? If they don't have six months wages in the bank (home ec 101) that's their fault for living beyond their means

One aspect of the government shutdown that probably wasn’t anticipated by Chuck Schumer and other Democrats, is that it has revealed to the public just how many people receive food stamps. Years ago, when the program was still called ‘food stamps’ it was seen as something that struggling families might use temporarily to get through a hard time. Then it was re-branded as the ‘SNAP’ program and destigmatized. People were encouraged to enroll. Now there are many more people using the program, many who probably don’t even really need it. It is by now blindingly obvious to any rational observer of American politics that the Democratic Party is circling the drain. Depending on which poll you believe, its favorability rating among U.S. adults is somewhere between 23 percent (CNBC) and 34 percent (CBS). Nor is it difficult to divine what has led to this dismal state of affairs — the party has lurched so far to the left that most of its iconic leaders would be regarded as too conservative to win the Democratic presidential nomination.
