One of Curtis Silwa’s staunchest supporters in the orthodox Jewish community is dropping the Republican and instead backing ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the mayoral race against front-runner Zohran Mamdani.
Americans Against Antisemitism founder Dov Hikind – who formerly represented the heavily orthodox Borough Park and Midwood as a state Assemblyman from 1983 to 2018 – said he flipped because Cuomo offered a better chance at stopping Mamdani, the Democratic nominee.
“I have nothing but good things to say about Curtis. But at the end of the day it’s very clear that Curtis can’t win,” Hikind told The Post of the red-beret wearing founder of the vigilante Guardian Angels.

What a shame. Cuomo is a piece of manure.

Personally, I don't care what happens in New York City. Much like Canada they are doing it to themselves. Many firms in the financial market have already moved offices and personnel to Florida and Texas and set stock exchanges. We stopped going to NYC three years ago simply because the streets became more covered in trash, the homeless tripled in number, and number of nutjobs increased to the point that one couldn't walk from the train station on 33rd street to Macy's on 34th street without being approached by beggars and walking over the homeless belongings. The final straw was when we were in a CVS on 34th street, and a homeless clown dropped his pants inside the store to take a dump.

In a perfect world Sliwa would win, but NYC is not a perfect world. Sliwa has been a fixture on the NYC scene for decades now. New Yorkers now who he is, they've known who he is for a long time and they're not going to start supporting him now no matter what Republicans in the rest of the country think. He cannot win, and wishful thinking that he can will only help Mamdani. Cuomo is a wretched human being but politics usually comes down to electing the lesser of 2 evils, not the greater of 2 goods, and Cuomo is a lesser evil than the Zorhan.

Wait, Silwa doesn't want to deport illegals either. New York is clearly under judgement. They would do better electing a great dane as mayor.

While governor Andrew Cuomo forced nursing home operators to accept patients with active Covid, killing thousands of elderly New Yorkers. He did so not because no other hospital beds were available, but because those beds were located on a hospital ship sent to New York harbor by President Trump, or in a massive field hospital contributed by a Christian charity. Voting for Cuomo as a lesser evil than Mamdani makes no sense when Curtis Sliwa offers a non-evil alternative to both of them.

I also think the socialist will win.
I also believe that he will financially wreck NYC and scream bloody murder when Trump refuses to bail his city out.

2, that sounds exactly like San Francisco when I lived there years ago but I hear it's even worse now.
I look forward to Mamdani's huge victory. Got my popcorn out for years to come! And you heard it here first, they should re-elect him, too!

Hikind is the epitome of why Mamdani is in the lead and Cuomo is second. If Cuomo to him is the better choice why didn’t he win the primary, why hasn’t he taken the the lead? They will blame Sliwa for not dropping out. That is how dumb they are in political thought. Sliwa is the Republican, what makes them think if he dropped out the full “11” percent would go to Cuomo?

Our Jewish friends are wise in finance. In politics--not so much.
How could any decent minded person encourage anyone to vote for Cuomo?
I agree with #2--New Yawkers are proud of their weird political pursuits, so let them commit political / economic suicide. The city will never return to the greatness it once was known for. Yep. Tax the rich, except a large chunk of that targeted group will be in Florida or Texas so the remaining ones will have a much heavier burden to provide for all of the "free" goods and services.

Sliwa has zero chance of success and Cuomo is catching the communist so the donor's money is more effective at stopping the communist if he supports a viable candidate. All make perfect sense to me as money given to Sliwa, who I like a lot but has no chance, is wasted.

As Hillary says: "What Difference, At This Point, Does It Make???
New York City is a lost cause; beyond redemption. Even if by some miracle Sliwa was elected, it would only slightly slow the descent into Perdition.
Best to get out now, before you need a Snake Plisskin to get you out.
