Historically black antics.

This saddens me. Back in the 1980s, I visited Lincoln to recruit for my graduate program. Students were properly dressed, polite to an old white man, faculty were helpful, and the campus was beautiful. They all seemed to have a special sense of pride, given their history.

I don't live too far from there. Local crime goes up when the school is in session. Given the student body, that's no surprise.

Sadly conforming to the stereotype that large groups of minorities spawn violence.

It's not a party until a fight breaks out. Just a thought. How many of these punks would open fire if they knew the party goers were armed and would shoot back? Better yet just be safe and stay away from these kinds of parties.

Nothing surprising here. One ethnic group does this almost to the exclusion of others.

We don't know that the shooter was not an outsider, do we?

Another tragedy in the black community. When I was growing up, the black mothers especially would jerk knots in misbehaving black kids. We had at least 6 well attended black churches. My grandparents' cook was a Bishop in the AME church here. What happened? There was still some black crime but no more than the white crime. Welfare? Absent fathers?

Thank you for your post, #10. I'd never heard the phrase "jerk knots" used that way before. It made me smile to hear something new and funny in an otherwise tragic story. I don't know the answer to the question you're asking, but I have thoughts I will share. I think boys are inherently more prone to destructive, and even self-destructive, behavior. This may be a natural instinct where aggression and dominance-seeking behavior in the male of our species may have been selected for over many generations. Regardless, boys seem to require a great deal more guidance and moral instruction when it comes to managing their impulses. Ideally this guidance comes from a father figure who has dedicated his life to teaching a boy what it means to be a man. Girls become women as a result of a biological process, but boys become men only through external effort or demonstration. They become men when they place their lives between those who need protection and those who would do them harm. Boys who join the military become men. Fathers who protect and raise their children are men. Setting aside the insane and the outright evil, there is no lower form of human than a male who would abandon their child. In this respect, African-American boys have been uniquely disadvantaged and have suffered disproportionately. That they continue to recreate this pattern, is a tragedy for them and everyone around them.

I'll bet the university has lowered admission standards what with the general breakdown of culture in America. There were plenty of middle and upper middle and upper class Black people in America, but who was chosen to be elevated into America's mainstream? Why low class Blacks, with rap and baby mamas, and hoodlum like behavior. Of course, the Democrats structuring of welfare (which permitted no man in the house) to destroy millions of Black families helped, given that coming from a fatherless home, is the number one predictor of juvenile delinquency.

I think #11 nails it. Now.....is there any fix? Seems like the concept of an intact family in the black community is seriously waning. Something like 80-90%, IIRC, of black kids don't have a father in the home. If that is correct....the kids are in deep trouble, and the boys, especially, will likely wind up wild and out of control. And we are seeing large numbers of cases with females who are also hair trigger ultra violent, not only males. A culture that has been broken down by welfare - which requires the father be absent to collect government money. So the fathers started being absent. And the spiral down the drain continues until it is very unusual to have an intact family in inner city black neighborhoods. White folks can't fix this. This has to be coming from inside that culture, that ethnic group, and there seems to be no real interest.

Agree with several previous posters regarding Federal welfare laws causing the destruction of black families on an Industrial scale. We can thank the 'Rats and Lyin' Lyndon Johnson for the Great Society welfare laws starting about 1965. These laws provided cash to low-income families, but ONLY if there was no man in the house. Without a Dad's firm hand on their shoulder to guide them, it appears that many young boys are growing up progressively wilder and wilder. I would not be surprised to find that this is influenced by the content of various media outlets that is aimed at the young black audience. Recently we had shootings at the homecoming football games at two mostly black high schools in my state. This appears to be much more commonplace in the black communities than the white ones. I believe the refusal to prosecute the perpetrators, common in many 'Rat cities, adds to this. An everyday occurrence previously limited to city streets, now everywhere. Nothing is going to stop it. It has become a way of life. Settling scores, real or imagined with a hail of gunfire anywhere, anytime. You can only distance yourself from it. Do not go or live anywhere near there is even a remote possibility of something happening.
