"Together, we can tax the rich, heal the sick, house the poor, defund the police & build a socialist New York,” Zohran Mamdani tweeted in 2020. On his current mayoral campaign website, he calls for shifting the city’s tax burden to “richer and whiter neighborhoods.” These aren’t slip-ups or stray remarks. They are at the heart of his campaign for mayor of New York City this November. And if he wins, the fallout won’t just be felt here. It will ripple far beyond the five boroughs, dragging down not only New York but the nation as well. I know a lot of Americans will shrug and say: “Well, New Yorkers

New York City will declare bankruptcy and will look to the Feds to bail them out as New York is "too big to fail."

'Tax the rich'. The word 'Rich' will constantly be redefined.
1st phase- everyone making $1 million a year
2nd phase- everyone making over 500G a year
3rd phase- everyone making over 200G a year
4th phase- everyone making over 100G a year
5th phase - everyone with more than $100 in bank accounts

This citizen is actually just as (if not more) worried that an Islamist will be elected. These do not share America's root philosophies or principles nor our intrinsic hatred of Sharia. That said, most of our own children do not either else we'd not be talking about Mamdani being elected in the first place. Pray for America and our descendants - pray VERY hard.

I don't know why we are wringing our hands over this. It is a foregone conclusion that NYC has created enough of a welfare state and an environment of need through an impossible cost of living, that the "have nots" vastly out number the productive.
The productive will move.
NYC will fail.
The important thing is to watch and learn and stop this from happening elsewhere. NYC is a write off.
The red portions of NY need to separate.

New York City will elect Mamdani. New York City will fail shortly afterwards. The rest of America is smarter than these leftist dopes and we will not accept what is a guaranteed failure or help them in any way. The "rich" will be gone before the last streetlight goes out.

Wall Street will leave, the theaters will relocate, real estate prices will collapse...
NYC will become Detroit.

No, it would be the much needed reminder every new generation needs to see how horrible things get when the left has control.
I welcome NYC going super left. They'll fix it themselves.

It's not going to drag the nation down. As a matter of fact it won't even be a blip on most of America's radar. Sure we'll have article after article about how bad New Yorkers have it under this moron, but we in the rest of America don't really care. We've got problems of our own. It's a Mayor for crying out loud. I can go down town right now and ask people what they think of this goofy bastid and most will say "who?" People are way more interested in who their own mayor will be. We really don't care about New York City, it's been a lost cause for a long time now and it will only get worse. Good luck New York City, we out here in fly over country wish you the best but as stated above, we've got our own issues and our own mayors to elect.

Mamdani is leading in the polls, but only about 20% of the population of NYC votes. One wonders if that will change come election time. We saw the same thing in Chicago when only 15% of the population voted. Any fringe lunatic can get elected to office with the predicted results when the majority of the people don't bother to show up at the polls.

No doubt the NYC money men will move their financial operations to States like Florida and Texas. As long as Trump is the President, NYC can then forget receiving Federal taxpayers money.

The author of this article is a native New Yorker from a middle-class family in the Bronx, and moans about how people like her won’t be able to leave. Why not, Nora? YOU did. You went to college somewhere else, and then got a master’s from a college in Ireland, for Chrissake. If your relatives are cops and firefighters, they can do that in Dayton, or Tallahassee, or Albuquerque. (Fair warning, though… if they’re cops, they’ll have to lose weight and get in shape; every cop I’ve seen in New York was overweight and slovenly, with a wrinkled uniform and leather gear that looked like hell.)
New Yorkers live in a bubble. They all tell you how great New York is, but they’ve never lived anywhere else! 60% of them don’t have a drivers’ license. If they flee New York to get away from what will shortly be a Communist slum, they’ll discover a whole new world, and a better life. If someone or something moves your cheese, you gotta go to where the cheese is now. But wherever you end up, just remember: you’re a refugee, not a missionary.

"Pay their Fair Share!" (in Taxes) the 'Rats say, always crying for wealthy people to be taxed more, while the 'gimme-dats' pay nothing.
But who is a bigger burden on society, and thus should pay more in taxes?
-A Millionaire who pays his taxes, obeys the laws, and causes no trouble, or
-A Thug who has damaged tens of thousands of dollars in property, injured dozens of people, been arrested (and turned loose by a Leftist judge) 45 times, with the people he injured having to be taken to the hospital and pay thousands of dollars in medical bills, the damage having to be repaired, insurance rates raised on everyone to treat the injured and repair the damage, had to have the cops investigate and arrest him 45 times, gone through the legal system with all it's costs -those lawyers don't work for free- 45 times.
So.... WHO is Costing the society more? WHO should 'PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE'?

Well we are in big trouble already then.... Because I'm relatively sure that there are at least four million socialists in New York City.

Dear Clueless,
History shows that if you continue to raise taxes on the rich, the rich will leave.
Then you have to tax those making less than the rich.
Then more people will leave, and the cycle continues until everyone is taxed to death.
