Trump Admin Makes Plans for Lethal Strikes,
CIA Action in Venezuela

Original Article

The Trump administration quietly authorized the CIA to conduct covert operations in Venezuela, granting the agency lethal authority as part of an escalating campaign to oust President Nicolás Maduro. The move marks a sharp escalation in the administration’s campaign to oust Maduro, whom it has labeled a “narcoterrorist.” It follows weeks of U.S. military strikes on boats off Venezuela’s coast allegedly involved in drug trafficking, which have killed 27 people. Officials say the ultimate goal is regime change. Newsweek reached out to the White House and the CIA for comment on Wednesday afternoon.

Hmmm. I'm honestly conflicted here. On the one hand, I'm supremely pleased to see the United States killing drug dealers who bring narcotics into our country that kill our people. If we say they're illegal, and you can't bring them here, we get to kill you if you try. However, I'm not comfortable the idea that the President of the United States is allowed to use the U.S. military and intelligence apparatus to initiate hostilities in another country with anyone he chooses. Presumably, there's a process of congressional oversight here, and I hope President Trump follows it. The history of presidents initiating covert action to remove unwanted leaders of other countries has not had very many unqualified successes. I guess for me it comes down to: Is this goon a real national security threat to the United States in real terms? Or is he just a bad actor we wished didn't exist? If it's the former, I'd be just as happy to vaporize him instead of engaging in all the skullduggery. If it's the latter, I'd prefer we keep our distance and destroy anything we don't want approaching our territorial waters.

I dont like the idea of the CIA being able to do any of that. The attack dog is just as likely to bite its owner, and recent history has shown us that. Laws and policies mean nothing to mad dogs.

Both Venezuela and Cuba are ran by thugs, protected by an army. The citizens can't get to them, because they are not organized, and are unarmed. Because they are thugs, they sell the U.S. out to Russia, China, and Iran. That policy is going to get a response from the U.S.

“Lawful law enforcement or military action on the territory of a foreign sovereign state must have the consent of that state,” This bit of wisdom from "an expert on International Law." How thick do you have to be? The CIA has been doing this all over the world since 1947. It's why they exist. "The law" is secondary to the national security of the United States. Bottom line, Venezuela is killing thousands of Americans. We reserve the right to fix that.

Murdero (intentional) has sent thousands of the worst kind of people into our country that measures at a level equal to an armed invasion. They are now scattered across our country causing horrible harm wherever they go. We are spending vasts sums of money trying to rid our country of this evil. Their weapons are drugs and automatic weapons, as well as explosives. I have always preferred our country to fight our wars on the soil of our enemies. This one is no different. I do not want to sit here wringing my hands and losing sleep over waiting for the next boat load of bad a actors to land so we can arrest them and then spend years tying up our courts protecting the rights of people who have come here to cause us great harm when they should be shot on sight. What I have read suggests that President Trump is waging this war in measured steps.

ou have to hand it to President Donald Trump. Joe Biden, the person who occupied the Oval Office before Trump, seemed barely coherent most of the time. He was constantly ducking the media and needed note cards to deal with even the simplest questions. Even then, it would always be uncertain whether he could answer, even though the media was largely favorable to him. In contrast, Trump and his team have to put up with a constantly hostile media, yet they're always answering questions and being transparent, even when they aren't treated fairly.
