Is the White House building a triumphal

In Washington, D.C. a new triumphal arch may be built across the Potomac River in Arlington, Virginia, to commemorate the country’s 250th anniversary. The proposal by architecture firm Harrison Design appears to be the same height—if not taller than—the Lincoln Memorial, which it would face. News of the arch circulated yesterday after Jim Watson photographed 3D-printed scale models of Harrison Design’s proposal at a meeting in the Oval Office between President Trump and Finnish Prime Minister Alexander Stubb. Reporting in The Washington Post said Justin Shubow, president of the National Civic Art Society, presented the idea to Trump earlier this year.

Interesting. I'd be curious to hear the Commission of Fine Arts take on it. Definitely high profile.

It reminds me of the Arch of Titus at one end of the Forum in Rome. At the other end of the Forum is the triple arch of Septimius Severus. I like the single arch better. A cool memorial to 250 years.

#4, he merely replaced the lawn with stone. The rose garden is still there. The purpose was to make the space safer and more functional for events. Women wearing high heels, in particular, had a hard time negotiating the wet grass.

I can hear Democrats now... Trump is building a monument to himself. Trump health care money for poor and seniors for MAGA vanity project. Trump takes grandma's medication away to pay for abortions marble monument to celebrate waste. Trump takes away property that could be used for low income housing. No matter what he does, they will be against it.

Bolivians headed to the polls Sunday in a presidential run-off election that brought a center-right candidate to power after two decades of one-party rule by the leftist Movement Toward Socialism (MAS) party. The vote pitted two conservative capitalists — right-wing former President Jorge Quiroga and centrist Senator Rodrigo Paz — against one another. Preliminary results showed Paz winning the election, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal said, securing over 54% of the vote. "The trend is irreversible," said Oscar Hassenteufel, the president of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal.

Nearly 20 years after Dennis Rader was sent to prison, his daughter Kerri Rawson found the strength to confront him face-to-face. In 2023, the mother of two was enlisted by investigators to determine whether the man who once terrorized Wichita, Kansas, and taunted police during a 17-year murder spree might be linked to other unsolved killings. Facing the father who called himself BTK — short for "bind, torture, kill" — would mark the final break in a relationship already shattered by his crimes. Rawson, 46, who has spoken out about the serial killer over the years, is the subject of a new Netflix documentary, "My Father, the BTK Killer." It explores

Loyalty can elevate or enslave. Placed in truth, it anchors. Placed in tribe, it distorts. Though I have known both, I abandoned the latter and embraced the former. That is why when I look at Ilhan Omar and Charlie Kirk, I see two distinct moral universes. Charlie’s foundation was faith in Christ and country, in family and the free market. His faith was that America embodies true freedom and dignity because our country was founded on biblical principles—principles that demand that power be checked and the weak be protected. Ilhan Omar’s foundation rests on three pillars: clan, Islamism, and leftism. Each demands loyalty not to principle but to faction. Each reduces life

Are we living in 1859? I ask it that way because all you can see and hear from Chicago are chaos, anarchy, violence, leftist conspiracy theories and exhortations by Democrats to ruin, and murder federal officials enforcing the law. It’s getting worse by the day. The residents of the Democrat fever swamp now scream across broadcast media that President Trump will end Democracy in a year. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to rely on information from the local left-leaning corporate legacy news media–Sun Times and Tribune–as violent leftist mobs backed by Democrat politicians continue attacking federal law enforcement officers across the country.

The Virginia Fraternal Order of Police is demanding that embattled Democratic attorney general hopeful Jay Jones exit the race “immediately” in light of the recently surfaced text messages showing him fantasizing about the former state House speaker getting shot in the head. Jones’ disturbing text messages in 2022 had surfaced late last week in a bombshell story, but the AG hopeful has remained in the race and local Democrats have stood by him. “This conduct has no place in our society or democracy, especially from an elected official who is running to be the top prosecutor in Virginia,” the Old Dominion State’s FOP wrote in a letter to Jones on Monday.

Joe Biden’s presidency was a multi-trillion dollar criminal conspiracy that shred every “norm,” violated nearly every right, and abused any power it could to punish its political opponents. The Trump administration’s prosecutions of Team Biden’s abuses of power may be the healthiest development for the rule of law since the end of Jim Crow. This is a story Republicans should tell with pride — and must tell incessantly, or the next Democrat administration will make Biden’s four years look like Camelot under Arthur.

At the specific request of then-Vice President Joe Biden, the CIA buried an embarrassing intelligence report detailing the poor view the Ukrainian government took of his diplomatic efforts and the business dealings of his own family in that country. Biden had traveled to Kyiv in December 2015, ostensibly to meet with leaders of that fledgling democracy and to deliver a warning against “the cancer of corruption.” And during an address to the Ukrainian parliament, he did condemn the “pervasive poison of cronyism, corruption, and kleptocracy.” But behind the scenes, Ukrainian officials expressed “bewilderment and disappointment” that the vice president had crossed the Atlantic “almost exclusively to deliver a generic speech.”

Germany could pull out of next year's Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna if Israel is excluded, Chancellor Friedrich Merz warned on Sunday. Speaking on public broadcaster ARD, Merz was asked whether Germany should voluntarily forgo the contest under such circumstances. 'I would support that,' he said. 'I think it's a scandal that this is even being discussed. Israel belongs there.' The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is due to hold a vote in November to decide whether Israel will be permitted to compete in Eurovision 2026. If a majority among active EBU members votes against Israel's inclusion, the country will be barred from taking part in the globally-recognised competition.

What began as a quiet October Friday in Virginia politics erupted into a full-blown national scandal when screenshots of private, three-year old text messages showing Democratic attorney general nominee Jay Jones fantasizing about shooting then-House Speaker Todd Gilbert and his children were made public. The National Review story revealed an August 2022 exchange between Jones — a former Norfolk delegate and one-time assistant attorney general — and Del. Carrie Coyner, R-Chesterfield. In the texts, Jones described a scenario in which Gilbert “gets two bullets to the head,” followed by a wish that the Republican lawmaker’s children “die in their mother’s arms.”

There have been countless examples of liberalism being a mental disorder. Here is another one: Two researchers from Western Michigan University have written a paper [snip] The paper argues that intentionally spreading alpha-gal syndrome (AGS), a potentially life-threatening allergy to red meat, could be not only morally defensible, but perhaps even necessary, in order to reduce animal suffering and combat climate change. Here are the authors, Parker Crutchfield and Blake Hereth, in their own words: Because promoting tickborne AGS prevents something bad from happening, doesn’t violate anyone’s rights, and promotes virtuous action or character, it follows that promoting tickborne AGS is strongly pro tanto (‘to that extent’) morally obligatory.

A notoriously violent two-block stretch of Brooklyn is fighting crime — by keeping uniformed cops away, The Post has learned. NYPD officials agreed to turn a sliver of Brownsville in the NYPD’s 73rd Precinct into a “police free zone” last week as part of an city-funded experiment called the Brownsville Safety Alliance that initially was only twice a year but now runs four times annually. And it’s an initiative that’s received praise from anti-cop, mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani, an official with the group that runs it told The Post.
