The committee chose to focus on Venezuela in a year where U.S. President Donald Trump featured heavily in speculation as to the overall winner, given his unceasing efforts to bring peace to a variety of conflicts around the world.
Trump said previously it would be an “insult” to the United States if he did not win the Nobel Peace Prize and he has been backed in his quest by a host of other nations, as Breitbart News reported.
“She is receiving the Nobel Peace Prize for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela, and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy,”

California has designated Diwali — popularly known as the “Festival of Lights” — as an official statewide holiday.
Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed the legislation, Assembly Bill 268, into law on Monday, which will go into effect in January 2026. First introduced by Democratic California State Assembly members Ash Kalra and Darshana Patel, it will authorize public schools and community colleges to close in observance of Diwali and also allow employees and students to take time off to recognize the holiday, according to the bill’s text.

Former President Barack Obama on Thursday hailed the Gaza cease-fire deal brokered by President Trump – but failed to mention the commander in chief’s name.
The glaring omission of “Trump” in Obama’s social media post celebrating that the “end to the conflict is within sight” outraged administration officials, the president’s supporters and members of his family on X.
“After two years of unimaginable loss and suffering for Israeli families and the people of Gaza, we should all be encouraged and relieved that an end to the conflict is within sight; that those hostages still being held will be reunited with their families;

Interestingly it appears the Democrat machinery has decided to torpedo former House member Katie Porter from her primary race for governor. Monday a controversial video segment appeared showcasing the unstable disposition of Mrs Porter, and today someone from inside the Biden govt decided to deploy another video showing her angry state of mind.
As noted by the New York Post, “California gubernatorial hopeful Katie Porter snapped and tried to storm out of an interview after being asked a simple question about President Trump — with the Democrat raging “I don’t want this all on camera.” Footage of the bizarre encounter, which aired on Monday and quickly started going viral,

Several high-profile antifa leaders have fled the country or are actively making plans to abscond overseas.
News of their escape comes after President Donald Trump designated antifa as a domestic terrorist threat and directed federal authorities to dismantle terrorism networks operating within the United States. Mark Bray, a financier of transnational antifa operations and antifa’s foremost thought leader in America, announced he is fleeing to Europe, settling in Spain specifically, under the pretext of safety concerns following negative media attention. Before his departure, Bray issued an apparent call-to-action, urging widespread militancy. “Only mass antifascism, legal or not, can save us,” Bray declared on Bluesky, a popular platform on the political Left.

The Trump administration’s approval of a Qatari air force base in Idaho isn’t popular with either of America’s political parties.
Department of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the forthcoming Qatari Emiri Air Force facility in America’s heartland Friday morning, thanking the Middle Eastern nation for playing a “core part” in negotiating the ceasefire between Israel and Palestine. Mountain Home Air Force Base will host Qatari F-15 fighter jets and pilots, and allow Qatari forces alongside American troops for F-15 pilot training. The move, which stands in stark contrast to the president’s “America first” agenda, seriously rattled some of Donald Trump’s most outspoken supporters.

A federal grand jury in Virginia has indicted New York Attorney General Letitia James on a bank fraud charge.
The grand jury was meeting in the Eastern District of Virginia court to weigh the charges on Thursday, sources confirmed to Fox News.
Earlier this year, the Justice Department opened an investigation into James for alleged mortgage fraud. James successfully won a civil case last year against President Donald Trump and his Trump Organization over allegations of faulty business practices.

When Jarred Shaw, an American basketball player in Indonesia, stepped down to the lobby in his apartment complex earlier this year to collect a package containing illegally imported cannabis gummies, he thought that the medicine to ease his Crohn’s disease had arrived.
It had – but so too had 10 undercover police officers. A video on social media shows Shaw, wearing a black T-shirt and shorts, shouting for help as the swarm of officers move to apprehend him.
The 35-year-old from Dallas, Texas, is facing the possibility of the death penalty or a long spell behind bars. He was a key member of Prawira Bandung, who won the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL)

The cost for that Disney magic is going up. Walt Disney World has confirmed that it is raising prices on its theme park tickets, annual passes, and on some annual pass renewals.
Disney World previously implemented "dynamic pricing," which means daily tickets to its theme parks vary by theme park, day, and demand. That will continue. Beginning during the 2026 holiday season, Disney confirmed that the highest ticket price point – only on its busiest days – could top $200 per person for a one-park, one-day ticket.

In a sharply divided vote, Spain’s parliament on Wednesday formally ratified a sweeping arms embargo on Israel, converting what had been an executive decree into permanent law.
The motion passed by a narrow margin of 178 to 169, closing a political chapter and heightening tensions between Madrid and Tel Aviv.
This new law has changed the status of the two‑year moratorium enacted at the onset of Israel’s war in Gaza into a binding statute.
The newly approved legislation bans the export and import of all defense and dual‑use technologies, and it prohibits ships and aircraft carrying fuel or military‑usable cargo from entering Spanish ports or airspace.

Jubilant locals in both Gaza and Israel took to the streets early Thursday to celebrate President Trump for his role in the historic cease-fire deal — with many calling for him to get the Nobel Peace Prize. Footage from both the streets of Tel Aviv and war-torn Gaza showed crowds of revelers celebrating what they hope will be the end of the two-year war as they hailed Trump for helping secure the deal.
