Pope Leo Offers Another Jibe at Trump
Over Deportations — Urges Catholics
to Embrace Open Borders Under ‘New Missionary Age’

Pope Leo XIV continues to make thinly veiled jibes against the Trump administration’s stance against illegal immigration. Speaking in front of thousands of pilgrims at St. Peter’s Square on Sunday, Leo warned that migrants must not be treated with “the coldness of indifference or the stigma of discrimination.” Without singling out any country in particular, Leo said that Catholics should “open our arms and hearts to them, welcoming them as brothers and sisters, and being for them a presence of consolation and hope.” Leo explained that the church was living through a “new missionary age” that tasked its members with providing “hospitality and welcome, compassion and solidarity” to migrants coming to the West.

We can have a new missionary age. Go help and preach to these people in their home countries. Open the Vatican treasury to help the poor and downtrodden of the world so that they don't have to migrate to new, unfamiliar places. Help them learn to be successful in their own country's and to respect the laws of other nations.

Harping on American Catholic church for not taking his view on borders etc. Accusing the US government for allowing the disappearance of 300K children I'm getting tired and angry that Leo has "picked a fight" with the USA Catholics. I hoped we would have had a true Pope after Francis. I think Leo is worse than Francis. Very disappointing.

Dittos #22. I had high hopes for Pope Leo but I’m glad I didn’t hold my breath. We are all called to obey the laws of God and man. Illegally entering any country is not honoring the laws of man, so I don’t see how Pope Leo can call for us to enable illegal behavior. Pope Leo did not come out for open borders, and the author is covering up that gap in his argument by calling the Pope furtive. How is that for doubling down on bigotry for clicks. The Pope said to be kind and compassionate to migrants, which is pretty much of a consensus in the United States. The Pope did not aim that specifically at illegal migrants, nor call for open borders. ... Hey. If the Pope didn't say the dumb thing you want to say he said, then don't insist he really meant it but was too sly to say what you say he said,. Let alone in a headline. Slinging bigotry for clicks.

A Pope is only considered to be infallible when he is speaking about established Roman Catholic Church dogma, and not when he gives his opinion calling for the undermining of a sovereign country’s immigration or other laws. The Pope is not doing the US Catholic Church any good when he gives his opinion that is counter to about eighty percent of US citizens who favor the effective enforcement of the US immigration laws according to recent polls.

It’s Banned Books Week, the celebration of blue-haired librarians cosplaying as champions of the First Amendment against evil conservatives who dare question the appropriateness of sexually explicit, pro-trans literature for five-year-olds. To summarize some of the silliness ably highlighted by NR’s Vahaken Mouradian on the subject: No “Banned Book” in America is actually banned; we still have an operative First Amendment, and every book on the American Library Association’s list of the top ten “Challenged Books” of 2024 is readily available on Amazon or at thousands of libraries and bookstores throughout the country.

California has long been known for its counter-culture, its zaniness, its "otherness." But in recent decades, that reputation has grown sinister; it’s no longer about The Beach Boys, surfing culture, “Beverly Hills Cop,” or even The Eagles. For the last 15 years or so, give or take, it’s become more about hard-core left-wing politics, societal decline, socialism, and during the COVID years, even totalitarianism as the power structure in the Golden State enacted the most freedom-stripping measures of virtually any state. Now, unsurprisingly, the state’s brain trust seems to be in some sort of schizophrenic blender,

Judge Immergut issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) and blasted President Trump’s decision to deploy troops. The TRO will expire on October 18. The judge warned that Trump’s justification to deploy troops to Portland may send the country into a constitutional crisis. On Sunday, President Trump called up hundreds of California National Guard Troops to Portland to circumvent the judge’s order blocking Oregon National Guard Troop deployment.

They are now part of what some of us call the "legacy media," but may also be quite honestly called the "liberal media," for their long-term, well-established leftist slant.

The most destructive inferno in Los Angeles history, which charred a devastating path through Pacific Palisades and Malibu in early January, was a rekindling fire that an Uber driver intentionally set days earlier near a popular hiking area, federal investigators alleged. Authorities on Wednesday also announced the arrest of 29-year-old Jonathan Rinderknecht, who is suspected of setting the initial fire on New Year’s Eve. Rinderknecht, of Florida, was charged with maliciously starting what eventually became the Palisades fire. Among the evidence that was collected from his digital devices was an image he generated on ChatGPT depicting a burning city, said U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli.

Several high-profile antifa leaders have fled the country or are actively making plans to abscond overseas. News of their escape comes after President Donald Trump designated antifa as a domestic terrorist threat and directed federal authorities to dismantle terrorism networks operating within the United States. Mark Bray, a financier of transnational antifa operations and antifa’s foremost thought leader in America, announced he is fleeing to Europe, settling in Spain specifically, under the pretext of safety concerns following negative media attention. Before his departure, Bray issued an apparent call-to-action, urging widespread militancy. “Only mass antifascism, legal or not, can save us,” Bray declared on Bluesky, a popular platform on the political Left.

Trump took to Truth Social on Wednesday to make the announcement: "I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw

A federal appeals court on Wednesday lifted a judge’s order blocking President Trump from federalizing Oregon National Guard Troops. On Saturday, Judge Karin Immergut, a Trump appointee, blocked President Trump’s National Guard deployment to Portland.

Jonathan Rinderknecht, 29, is accused of sparking January’s raging inferno that devastated more than 6,000 homes and buildings in the wealthy coastal enclave. “Rinderknecht started a fire in Pacific Palisades on New Year’s Day — a blaze that eventually turned into one of the most destructive fires in Los Angeles history, causing death and widespread destruction,” Acting US Attorney Bill Essayli said.

Katie Porter threatened to walk out of an interview with a local CBS News affiliate after the reporter asked several follow-up questions about whether her support for Democrats’ congressional redistricting measure would alienate Republican voters. The on-camera sitdown with Porter, a frontrunner in the gubernatorial race, grew confrontational after the reporter, Julie Watts, asked: “What do you say to the 40 percent of California voters — who you’ll need in order to win — who voted for Trump?”
