A food aid program that helps more than 6 million low-income mothers and young children will run out of federal money within two weeks unless the government shutdown ends, forcing states to use their own money to keep it afloat or risk it shutting down, experts say.
The $8 billion Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, also known as WIC, provides vouchers to buy infant formula as well as fresh fruits and vegetables, low-fat milk and other healthy staples that are often out of financial reach for low-income households.
The shutdown, which began Wednesday, coincided with the beginning of a new fiscal year, meaning programs like WIC,

I suggest that people call their Communist Representatives and tell them to give up and back the Republican Continuing Resolution. Or, call your Republican Representative and tell them to not go wobbly and cave in to the demands from the Communists...

How about calling your favorite democrat commie and tell that person that you know longer want to spend 6 million dollars on classes for male prostitutes to teach them how to dance and to bake cookies. This is actually in the bill that the democrats want kept in the bill, or they will just keep the government shut down. Seems that money would be better spent on AMERICANS!

Most of the money goes to overhead. Administrators, cars, paperwork, offices.

I had it with all these free loading phonys. I use store coupons and I'm frugal. No expensive meat. But at checkout I'm surrounded by well dressed EBT card users with overflowing carts and then I see them drive away with really nice cars, unlike my 2007 chevy. Did I mention they usually don't speak english?

Strawberries are staples? In my youth they were the top of the line for fruit. We ate apples and pears and things you bought in 5 lb bags.

There’s so much wrong with this piece of AssPress propaganda that it’s hard to know where to start. They need it to buy “fresh fruits and vegetables” and “healthy staples”? Every WIC participant and SNAP card user I see at Wal-Mart has a cart overflowing with doughnuts, candy, Coca-Cola and frozen entrees full of fat, and they somehow get cash back at the register before they leave and load up their SUV’s. And “pregnant mothers” won’t be able to feed their toddlers? If you can’t feed ‘em, don’t breed ‘em. And how about the woman with a toddler who ditched her husband and works at the “LGBT center”? The AssPress pushed every button with that one.
If we got rid of the Department of Agriculture we could kill not only WIC and SNAP, but the ridiculous school lunch program. If the shutdown continues, it will be easier to get that done.

Heaven knows we should not be keeping obese, pre-diabetic children and their ignorant, equally obese and full blown diabetic parents from dining on a menu of Cheetos, Snickers, Coca-Cola ( or "Purpadrank," at their option) and McDonald's. It's their right as a persecuted minority group to do so and to do so on the dime of other, gainfully employed and responsible Americans.

Are those "millions of families," whose food aid is threatened by the government shutdown by those nasty, evil Republicans, ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS?
Then, GOOD. That food aid paid by the taxpayer is THEFT.

So, people get WIC AND freaking food stamps? And housing? And free daycare? They just can't give away enough of our hard earned money. I'm so tired of how much money comes out of my paycheck before my greatly reduced earnings get to me. Money that is highly mismanaged by power-hungry, greedy individuals who carelessly and foolishly got our country in $40 trillion debt. Fools who still can't stop spending.
It's a shame that Caroline pointed to the WIC affect in her PC yesterday. That's not MAGA; I don't care what point you're trying to make. That's some political crappola!

How many of those millions were on welfare and then had more kids?
How many of those millions are able to work, but refuse to?
How many of those millions are single moms with dad(s) nowhere in sight?
These programs are not helping people, they are enslaving them.
