War Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Tuesday a slew of new personnel fitness and grooming directives going after “fat general” and “beardos” in the military. The new directives will require all military members to pass two fitness tests a year, regardless of rank, and to meet the highest combat standards previously reserved only for men, Hegseth said during his speech at Quantico to senior military leaders. He also announced he would strictly enforce grooming standards for all military members, with exceptions for special operations forces. Hegseth made elevating standards a top priority of his tenure after years of declining standards often intended to lower barriers to entry and attract more recruits.

It was interesting that the looser standards actually contributed to lower recruiting numbers. Democrats are always backwards. At the Pentagon instead of dog runs, General runs?

General Mark Milley has already resigned. There's no way that tub of lard would have qualified. This gets me wondering about his court martial. Is anything happening on that front? He has to be at the top of Trump's "Bad" List!

It'll take either an electric razor, or a safety razor and some shaving cream to get rid of the facial hair. Women might prefer plucking theirs. OTOH, being able to pass PT standards for the arm-chair warriors might take a little longer. Daily PT will help. I agree that women should pass the same tests as men. They aren't going to get special consideration if these are women in combat. One more thing. I'm sure some women can pass those tests, but 90% of men are bigger, stronger, and faster than 90% of women. It'll be a rare woman who passes these tests.

I agree on everything except that a close-cropped, clean, beard should be allowed. There was a long tradition of military beards in the West, which stopped in WWI because gas masks could not get a seal and Gillette (yes, of white men are evil fame) pushed it on to the public and thereafter. This ceased to be an issue about 1980. Beards provide a lot of Sun, wind, and weather protection and even a bit of protection against a fist, and are how G-d designed man to look.

I posted over a year ago in a different article that Milley was a literal physical disgrace to the uniform he was wearing. I’m glad Sec. Hegseth feels the same way about our leadership.

I think his primary physical fitness standards are mainly aimed at military members who hold down combat related military occupational specialties (MOS’s). When it comes to DEI related promotions into command positions, why would DEI be even an issue when it comes to promoting on merit? All the changes seem like common sense!

I trust Pete to do the right thing. But like others I think prohibiting all facial hair will not be real popular. Some men have facial skin that does not endure frequent shaving very well. And you need good quality razors to avoid nicks and cuts. The cheap disposable razors don't work for everyone.

If the Generals and other military leaders expect the troops to be fit and ready, they must set the example for them. Like Hegseth, who regularly works out with the troops, the military leaders must meet the same standards. Nobody respects a fat General.

Youngkin Orders Virginia Board To Protect

On Thursday, Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin instructed Virginia’s state health board to devise regulations protecting the sanctity of women’s sports and locker rooms from trans-identifying men. “The health and safety of women and girls in sex separated spaces and participating in athletic competitions is in serious jeopardy due to irresponsible policies, including those that allow known sex offenders to hunt little girls in public locker rooms,” Youngkin said in a statement. “It is an embarrassment and a tragedy that certain individuals continue to turn a blind eye to these clear violations of the law and of the health, safety, privacy, dignity, and respect of Virginians. This must stop.”

A new gubernatorial candidate has entered the fold in Georgia with an incredibly cringeworthy advertisement to let voters know who she is. Democratic candidate Ruma Romman posted her campaign ad to social media platform X on Monday where she spouted all the usual leftist drivel about people being put last while big, bad corporations hold down them down. She promised to feed the hungry, increase the minimum wage, open hospitals, and help small businesses. “Georgia belongs to all of us, not just corporations and special interests,” Romman declared in front of a group of paid actors.

Virginia Democratic attorney general nominee Jay Jones was convicted of reckless driving in 2022 after police clocked him speeding at 116 miles per hour on a highway at midnight, according to a new report. A Virginia state trooper pulled over Jones at 12:55 a.m. in January 2022 for driving 46 miles over the speed limit on Interstate 64, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported Wednesday, citing court records of his conviction. The incident occurred just weeks after Jones resigned as a state delegate representing the city of Norfolk and months after his loss in Virginia’s 2021 Democratic primary for attorney general.

It’s not WIRED’s policy to be mean to 350-pound hunks of plastic on wheels. But it’s a big, cruel world out there, and delivery robots like Dot will have to face—are already facing, because Dot has just started doing deliveries in metro Phoenix—myriad dangers and challenges. So many challenges, in fact, that although companies are making big strides in autonomous vehicles—two more companies launched public rides in the US just this month—delivery robots like Dot have followed a rockier road.

This week, federal officials made an astounding announcement: Nearly half of all immigrants in greater Minneapolis were found to have committed some form of immigration fraud. The fraud, uncovered in a September sweep, came in all kinds — sham marriages, fake death certificates and “other bizarre schemes,” as US Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Joseph Edley put it. But the revelation was no great surprise to those of us who have followed the settlement of some 100,000 Somali immigrants in Minnesota over the past three decades. As far back as 2008, the State Department temporarily suspended one of the family reunification programs used by Somali immigrants when DNA testing of applicants

After almost 20 years, PBS is reviving its fan-favorite “Reading Rainbow” kids educational show—this time, with a cast of woke hosts. If you were looking for another reason to justify the defunding of PBS, now you have one. “Reading Rainbow,” trademarked by the Western New York Public Broadcasting Association, first aired in 1983 to help kids continue reading through the summer to keep their minds sharp and avoid the “summer loss” phenomenon. The read-along show ran for 26 years until funding dried up in the 2000s. But on Monday, “Reading Rainbow” posted a short video announcing a new season—meeting with fanfare from

Charlie Kirk is dead. Americans must face why. His murder was not random, not confusing, not detached from the battles he fought so fiercely in life. It was the direct consequence of his bold refusal to bend before one of the most aggressive and destabilizing ideologies of our time: transgender radicalism. For years, Kirk warned about the dangers of this movement. Not just its cultural consequences, but the deeper crisis of mental illness and violence it has unleashed across the nation. In the end, his voice was silenced by precisely the pestilence he spent his career opposing. The facts are painfully clear. On Sept. 13, 2025, police captured Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old suspect
