An immigration judge in Louisiana has ordered pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil, a legal permanent resident of the U.S., deported to Syria or Algeria for failing to disclose certain information on his green card application, according to documents filed in federal court Wednesday by his lawyers.
Khalil’s lawyers suggested in a filing that they intend to appeal the deportation order, but expressed concern that the appeal process will likely be swift and unfavorable. The order from the immigration judge, Jamee Comans, came despite a separate order in Khalil’s federal case in New Jersey blocking his deportation while that court considers Khalil’s legal argument

Hopefully you'll be deported out of the U.S lickety-split, never to be seen again.

If he lied on his green card application, he has not been "a legal permanent resident of the U.S.".

A "legal and permanent resident"? In other words, not a citizen and subject to removal.

There was a time when immigrants came here to live a new life, anxious to form anew life with freedom from « the storied pomp » they left behind. Perhaps that corner was turned when the US began to meddle in the affairs of other nations…yet I remain convinced that we as a nation do not need to have foreign wars brought to our shores. Khalil may have come here to study…but would not have approved if he came here to meddle. He has to leave? Good

I assume this is a dog whistle to all MAGA people to get ready to rumble. You know, burn, destroy, hurt all whom get in your way. Because it's what MAGA does. s/o

I was under the impression that he had a student visa but was not an active student for a couple of years. The story keeps changing. Inciting violent riots is not the action of an ideal US Citizen so boot him out.

Article gives overview of Khalil's previous legal status here in America but vaguely summarizes Trump's rationale for deportation as "when he applied for a green card, he failed to disclose all his past employment and membership in certain organizations."
Sounds like some details there that are not nice.

The immigration authorities should play the late, great Roy Rogers’s signature song, “Happy Trails” as Mahmoud Khalil is escorted by ICE agents to his flight to Algiers, Algeria, where, coincidentally, my late father hit the beach there as a member of the US 34th Infantry Division on November 8, 1942, “only” 83 years ago.
Somehow, I think that my father would have thought that he had helped to pave the way back for Mr. Khalil to return to that “charming” and “picturesque” third-world-country. 🐪🌴👳🏻♂️🙄

I wonder if his American wife will follow him back to the middle east, and take their American son with them. Is she ready to live that life?
