I'm sure global warming or climate change is the reason.

Because hurricanes are weather with a plethora of factors determining whether or not a storm forms. Its strength, longevity and direction. And the weather prognoticators can't accurately predict normal weather day to day. Here's a hint. Stop "predicting" storms 6 months in advance. Even Nostradamus didn't have nads that big.

We are two days from the peak of hurricane season (Arnold Palmer's birthday, September 10), and the National Hurricane Center's site reads, for the Atlantic, Caribbean, Gulf of America region: "Tropical cyclone activity is not expected during the next 7 days." That's unusual for this time of the year. Last year was a terrible one. Maybe our luck will be better this year, but we know to take nothing for granted. Coastal areas aren't truly safe until the ocean temperature drops below 80 F. It takes eighty or more to incubate or sustain a hurricane. Around here, Gulf temperature is above eighty until November. Hurricane season ends December 1 (Lee Trevino's birthday).

Old timers in New Orleans use to say that if it was an especially hot summer hurricanes couldn’t form. In my 66 years I’d say they’re right.

Rush Limbaugh had a 100% correct prediction of the number of Atlantic hurricanes that will occur in any and all given years. His prediction: "This year, there will be between zero and thirty hurricanes."

Awwww! So, how's that "more and more violent storms" hogwash working out Climate Crazies? Not happening? OOPS, reality bites again. There is no real MMGW, perhaps a bit of global cooling going on, it seems to me.

As Vice President JD Vance paid his respects to the victims of last week’s deadly mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, protesters standing by a "progress pride" flag with transgender colors heckled him from across the street. Vance, who is Catholic, paid a visit to the site of the shooting and visited with victims and their families on Wednesday. The vice president and second lady Usha Vance were seen pausing for a moment in front of a statue of the Virgin Mary outside the church before he entered. As he entered, protesters could be heard shouting various slogans

Reports surfaced this week suggesting that Chelsea Clinton may be considering a run for Congress in New York's 12th District, where longtime Democratic Representative Jerry Nadler has announced his retirement. The reports about Clinton, the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, come as Democratic strategists weigh who could consolidate support in a rapidly expanding field. However, she has repeatedly insisted over the years that she has no plans to enter politics. Newsweek reached out to Chelsea Clinton via email for comment. Nadler's retirement marks the end of a three-decade career in Congress, including

SYDNEY - Thousands of Australians joined anti-immigration rallies across the country on Sunday that the centre-left government condemned, saying they sought to spread hate and were linked to neo-Nazis. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is taking a defiant stance against President Donald Trump’s promise to deploy the National Guard to the nation's third-largest city. Johnson on Aug. 30 signed an executive order he said lays out "how we can stand up against this tyranny." Chicago police will not help the National Guard with immigration enforcement or related activities such as conducting traffic stops and manning checkpoints, according to the order. "This is about making a very clear distinction between what our law enforcement engages in versus what federal agents engage in," Johnson said at a news conference. "This president is

President Donald Trump is still facing a $83.3 million payment to writer E. Jean Carroll after a federal appeals court rejected his challenge of a defamation verdict against him Monday. The ruling from the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upholds a lower court decision finding that Trump did, in fact, defame Carroll. Trump's lawyers argued his comments about Carroll were protected by presidential immunity and that the verdict in the case was unjust. The three-judge panel rejected both of those claims. "We conclude that Trump has failed to identify any grounds that would warrant reconsidering our prior holding on presidential immunity. We also conclude that the district court did not err

Letitia James’s New York State mortgage records indicate that she committed mortgage fraud on a $200,000 “Credit Line Mortgage” with Citizens Bank in 2021. Like other mortgages, it requires a signed note, a mortgage document, and recording with the county clerk. The mortgage document shows that James misrepresented her five-unit apartment building as a single-family dwelling. This false claim allowed James to avoid significantly higher commercial loan closing costs and a higher interest rate.

Late last week NBC ran a “news” story featuring a dozen disgruntled federal judges whose rulings against various Trump administration policies have been stayed or overturned by the Supreme Court. These lower court judges, none of whom had the courage to allow NBC to name them in the article, bewailed the failure of SCOTUS to provide sufficient justification for ruling against them. It’s blindingly obvious, however, that the real issue they are whining about is the Court’s refusal to countenance their usurpation of the President’s Article II powers and frustrate implementation of his agenda.

As RedState reported, the Trump administration scored a big win on Monday, with the Supreme Court staying a lower court ruling barring ICE from conducting immigration stops without probable cause. The original decision, which came from Biden-appointed California District Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong, was spawned after a series of high-profile raids carried out in Los Angeles. At the time, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) proclaimed that "justice has prevailed." I suspect he won't be quite as optimistic about or respectful of the Supreme Court's latest smackdown.
