The Dearborn Heights Police Department in Michigan has announced an "optional patch" that includes text in both Arabic and English. The patch includes the words "DEARBORN HEIGHTS" and "POLICE" written in both English and Arabic. "The Dearborn Heights Police Department is proud to share a new optional patch that our officers may wear as part of their uniform," the department noted in a Facebook post. "This patch was created by Officer Emily Murdoch, who designed it to reflect and honor the diversity of our community - especially the many residents of Arabic descent who call Dearborn Heights home.

A California woman illegally registered her dog to vote and cast two ballots under the canine’s name, according to officials.
Laura Lee Yourex, 62, of Costa Mesa, faces five felony charges, including perjury, procuring or offering a false or forged document to be filed, casting a ballot when not entitled to vote and registering a non-existent person to vote, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Yourex submitted mail-in ballots under her dog’s name, Maya Jean Yourex, during the 2021 gubernatorial recall election and the 2022 primary, the District Attorney’s Office said.
The recall ballot was counted, but the primary ballot was rejected.
Rep. Yassamin Ansari, D-Ariz., sparked a social media firestorm on Thursday for saying she does not "give a sh--" whether people in her district can vote for her in a rebuke of President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.
During a press conference on Capitol Hill on Thursday, Ansari was asked about her use of the term "constituents" while criticizing the Trump administration’s mass deportation efforts.
"So, I didn’t realize this was such a controversy until the right-wing media started attacking me for using the word, so I Googled the word constituent. The definition of constituent is somebody who is part of a community, doesn’t matter what their legal status is," Ansari said.

In the wake of Robin Westman’s deadly Minneapolis rampage, some troll in the bowels of the Trump Justice Department reportedly proposed blocking trans people from buying firearms by declaring them all “mentally ill.”
This, of course, is absurd as a simple matter of law: No rule that strips a (dubiously-defined) group of their Second Amendment rights has any chance of holding up in court.
And if it did somehow survive, that’s an open invitation for future progs to create their own “mentally ill by definition” categories — deployable to limit lots of other rights.

Congress has not scheduled a vote to extend President Trump’s 30-day federalization of the Metropolitan Police Department as the expiration date looms. Trump’s control over DC police is set to expire next week on September 10 if Congress doesn’t act. I spent the last year examining the six major “lawfare” cases against President Trump in between his two presidential administrations, and the E.
