Judge Rules Against Little Sisters of
the Poor in Obamacare Contraception Case

Original Article

Posted By: Dreadnought, 8/14/2025 2:29:58 AM

A U.S. district court decided on Wednesday to strike down a 2017 federal regulation that exempted religious employers from the Affordable Care Act’s mandate for employer-sponsored health insurance to cover the cost of contraception. If the ruling holds, religious non-profit organizations such as the Little Sisters of the Poor, the defendants in the case, may now be required to file for an accommodation process with the government that still maintains employees’ access to contraception without the religious organization having to pay. For-profit employers would have access to no religious exemption from the mandate whatsoever.

Too early to process the double negatives. All I see is the Affordable Care Act rearing its ugly head. This thing should be dead.

Another example of liberals being obsessed with what people do with their own pee-pee parts. Employer health coverage is a benefit offered as part of employee's compensation. It is insurance that protects the employee from financial hardship should they have extensive medical costs. Abortions and contraception are not what most people think of when they are using health insurance since neither are particularly expensive. Insurance is to protect the insured against the expense of major medical bills not provide free abortions, rubbers, and birth control pills.

"On January 14, 2019, Beetlestone issued a nationwide injunction against new contraception rules promulgated by the Trump Administration." The Supreme Court and Congress need to stop these tin horn judicial dictators and their nationwide injunctions. No kings indeed! The country has 677 kings in the form of district judges.

Foreign born leftist judges nominated by a President (Democrat) who in their own rite are constitutionally ineligible to be elected President, and who lately have been ruling against a duly elected US President (Republican ) by issuing nationwide injunctions should not have been considered eligible to be appointed as Federal Judges In the first place. With guts the US Congress should change the law and rules to make the foreign born ineligible to be appointed as Federal Judges.

As I recall, the ACA gives "the secretary" (of HHS) extraordinary latitude in the policy implementation of many parts of the law. I think RFK should get some bright attorneys to pore over that document (use AI as it's readily available now and can make quick work of that 4,000+ page monstrosity) and deregulate as much of the health care delivery system as possible -- in advance of having the law repealed entirely. I'd be willing to be the Little Sisters can get relief with an order signed by RFK.

Washington — Kilmar Abrego Garcia was taken into custody Monday by immigration authorities following his release from criminal custody last week, his lawyer said. "As he was leaving the jail in Tennessee on Friday he'd been given a notice requiring him to check in at 8 a.m. this morning," Abrego Garcia's attorney, Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg said. "The notice stated that the reason was interview — clearly that was false." Sandoval-Moshenberg said Abrego Garcia had filed a new lawsuit challenging his confinement and deportation to any country

It's beginning to look like the British people have had enough. Enough illegal immigration, enough "asylum seekers" being housed in British hotels at taxpayer expense, enough no-go zones, enough grooming gangs, enough knife attacks, enough rape. They've had enough, and this weekend just past, they sure let their government know about it. The question is, how much good will it do? Mass protests have exploded outside migrant hotels across the country this weekend as furious families gathered in major cities including Birmingham and London. A group of protesters, some draped in the St George's Cross, gathered outside the Castle Bromwich Holiday Inn

From the Times of India, Sikh advocacy groups estimate there are approximately 150,000 to 200,000 Sikhs working in the trucking industry, with around 90% (135,000 to 180,000) being drivers. They constitute about 18% of the total truck drivers in the US and up to 40% are based in California. This fact was buried in the 6th paragraph of a story about that Indian-national truck driver (Harjinder Singh, billed out of Stockton, CA) accused of causing three fatalities in a minivan with his truck on the Florida Turnpike earlier this month.

France summoned U.S. Ambassador Charles Kushner on Sunday after he published a scathing open letter in the Wall Street Journal to President Emmanuel Macron, accusing the French government of failing to adequately combat rising antisemitism and warning that “public statements haranguing Israel embolden extremists.” The diplomatic confrontation escalates tensions between Washington and Paris over France’s approach to Jewish safety and Middle East policy, with Kushner’s Wall Street Journal letter — dated Monday, August 25, but released to the press late Sunday afternoon

In a strange turn of events at the University of South Carolina, a video showing a person carrying an umbrella sparked panic, with many fearing a gunman on campus. The university even issued an alert. However, social media posts suggest the confusion arose because people mistook the umbrella for a firearm. Police later confirmed there is no evidence of an active shooter, but students and staff were asked to remain sheltered until an official all-clear is given. OSINTdefender posted a video on X, stating, “A video allegedly shows an active shooter at the University of South Carolina in Columbia,

Midterms traditionally run against the party in power in the White House. But some important facts explain why Democrats are freaking out over the redistricting in Texas. We previously reported on the huge shift in party registration numbers, according to a recent analysis. When Democrats have lost 2.1 million registrations and the Republicans have gained 2.4 million over the past four years, I think you can call that a "crisis" for Democrats. Then, too, they are cratering to historic lows in approval as well. In July, they had 19 percent approval in a Quinnipiac poll, and then hit a 35-year low

Ever since Trump’s first term, the political and media establishment told us that his trade policies were reckless, destructive, and doomed to wreck the U.S. economy. Every so-called expert on cable TV preached that they would crush American consumers, tank the stock market, and send our economy into a spiral. We’re still waiting for that to happen. Here we are in Aug. 2025, and the Congressional Budget Office just dropped a bombshell that completely shatters the left’s narrative against Trump’s tariff strategy. As of August 19, we estimate that the effective tariff rate for goods imported into the United States has increased

In what is being called the largest single-year cut in civilian federal employment since World War II, 2025 will end with 300,000 fewer workers employed by the United States government. New Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director Scott Kupor told several news outlets, most recently the New York Times, that the federal workforce will drop from 2.4 million to 2.1 million employees, largely as the result of the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) efforts. In a lengthy interview this week with Washington, DC, station WTOP, Kupor said that up to 80 percent of the reductions

Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson invoked a popular comic strip in an angry dissent, accusing her colleagues of being in the bag for President Donald J. Trump. The left-winger who was appointed by disgraced former President Joe Biden to fulfill his pledge to put a black woman on the SCOTUS has repeatedly shown that she lacks the intellect and temperament for the job with her emotional antics. Not that another example was needed, but Jackson served it up anyway, describing the court’s latest overruling of an activist lower court judge who blocked the ending of DEI-based grants at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as “Calvinball.”

Representative Al Green, who has served Texas’s 9th Congressional District since 2005, will finally leave office. The Texas Legislature, led by Republicans, passed a legal redrawing of congressional maps that effectively eliminates District 9. Green, best known not for legislation but for shouting down President Trump during his address to Congress in March 2025, will be removed from office after nearly two decades of loud, ineffective, and divisive politics. Unsurprisingly, Rep. Al Green called the redistricting racist. But the only racial injustice here is the Democrat Party’s decades-long abuse of district lines to cling to power.

President Trump went on a late-night attack against NBC and ABC News on Sunday, deriding them for what, in his view, was "biased" coverage and said he would be in favor of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) revoking their licenses. The Republican president said the news outlets had given him negative coverage on "97%" of stories. It wasn’t clear from where Trump was citing the "97%" figure. A study released earlier this year by the conservative media watchdog group, Media Research Center (MRC), found that coverage of the president’s first 100 days in office was "92% negative."
