On Thursday’s broadcast of CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said that the government grocery store plan from New York City mayoral candidate Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani (D) is “a new and fresh plan for New York City. But it’s been tried in other cities around the country and has had some real successes.” Warren stated that Mamdani “said, we’ve got a problem with entire food deserts where people can’t get access to grocery stores. He said, I’d like to take a look at whether or not we can have some kind of — like we do on military bases — you have some kind of support from the city government

Comments:

Hiawatha lowers the bar for stupid.
NYC has grocery stores every 2 blocks, but they can't stay open when their products are being carted away by shoplifters or damaged in riots.

The reason places are food deserts, specifically in urban areas, is because of excessive theft in the stores. Socializing the stores isn't going to change that. Grocery stores run on razor thin profit margins. That's why they left.

Want a government grocery store? Be prepared to guard it 24/7 from shoplifters and Soros rent a mobs. Also, institute a rigorous hiring process to ensure decent employee who will show up to work at time and not loot the place after hours. The cost to implement a successful government store is a lot higher than projected. It has never worked and never will. Yes, there may be a functioning such store somewhere, but I expect that the inventory pales in comparison to the national chains.

Strangely enough, the music video for 'Caught Shoplifting' by Jane's Addiction comes to mind. Every decade, Communism gets rebranded because of its deservedly bad reputation. Today they call it Democracy. Liz 'Lyin' Squaw' Warren is a Communist. The only way a grocery store can work in a high crime area is if it's turned into an iron door with no windows where customers bring their order, pay for it in advance, and the workers bring the order out.

Warren seems to think that freeloading, urban-dwelling democrats are entitled to receiving goods and services paid for by hardworking Americans. The commissary idea is an insult to those who accepted low wages and horrible risks to serve their country. I grew up on military bases in the late '50s and throughout the '60s. Most of our military housing was built of cinder block. The only thing separating such housing from the urban projects was the requirement to keep your living space and grounds very clean. My father, a Native American in both uses of the term (e.g., not a foreign born U.S. border gate crasher but an "Indian" who received both overt and subtle forms of discrimination, until the weight of his campaign ribbons, medals for valor in combat, oak leaf clusters, hash marks, and badges quieted most of the comments) had earned our family's commissary privileges by serving throughout the duration of WWII in the Pacific, on carrier-based Avenger aircraft, attacking Japanese ships and shore installations throughout the war, followed by service in the newly minted USAF during the Korean War, flying similar missions on slightly newer aircraft, followed by three tours flying combat missions over Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, and participating in multiple TDYs during the Cold War, when communists were recognized as the enemy of our country, our freedoms, and way of life. There is no comparison between the men and women serving in our Armed Forces to illegal aliens or criminal aspiring democrats seeking to take their living from taxpaying citizens.

Big Chief Lies-a-Lot once again defining "success" as taxpayer-funded goods going to the poor and the lazy. If Mamdani wins and implements this lunacy, the taxpayers will be long gone and the remnants of the population left behind will get nothing, free or otherwise. Once Macy's has been emptied by New York teens there will be no clothing available either. Supply trucks attempting to enter New York City will be hijacked on the way in. Last week, Barack Obama gave some advice to his party, and it’s astonishing how quickly his words turned into a self-inflicted political wound. He was once hailed as the Democrat Party’s unifying figure, but Obama’s recent scolding of his own party’s base didn’t just flop — it sparked a backlash even his defenders can’t ignore. As PJ Media previously reported, during a ritzy gathering of party elites in New Jersey, Obama dismissed the rampant frustration among liberals, telling them to show “a little bit less navel-gazing and a little less whining and being in fetal positions.” "And it's going to require Democrats to just toughen up,” he said.

Their goal? Lay the foundation for the Trump-Russia hoax that would consume the nation for years.
