The 2025 Pulitzer Prize winners were announced Monday afternoon from Columbia University in New York.
Widely regarded as the top honor in U.S. journalism, the Pulitzers recognize outstanding reporting, commentary and storytelling.
This year’s awards come at a fraught moment for the press, as journalists confront escalating threats to press freedom from the Trump administration, including efforts to control the White House press pool, oust wire services like The Associated Press and defund public and international media.

The Israel Air Force is undertaking a joint counter-strike of the Houthis in Yemen along with the US night following the ballistic missile strike near Ben Gurion Airport on Sunday, The Jerusalem Post has learned.
Foreign reports are describing close to a dozen attack sites.
This is the sixth Israeli air strike on the Houthis since July 2024, following over 400 attacks by the Iranian proxy on Israel over the course of the war. Just before 9:00 p.m., the IDF formally acknowledged attacking the Houthis around the Hodeidah seaport in Yemen, approximately 2,000 kilometers away.
Targets included the Hodeidah seaport, which the IDF noted serves as a major

A savvy move to provide incentives in any given matter can be very effective. That's a fancy way of saying, "If you offer to pay people, you can generally get them to do what you want."
On Monday, Fox News' Bill Melugin brought us the story of the Trump administration's plan to offer illegal aliens a deal - a free plane ticket and a $1,000 check to leave the United States voluntarily.
It might work. Mr. Melugin's post continues:
DHS tells @FoxNews this will save American taxpayers 70%, as it currently costs DHS, on average, over $17,000 to arrest, detain, and deport someone from the U.S., while paying

TEL AVIV, Israel — Israel approved plans Monday to capture the entire Gaza Strip and to stay in the Palestinian territory for an unspecified amount of time, two Israeli officials said, a move that, if implemented, would vastly expand Israel’s operations there and likely draw fierce international opposition.
Israeli Cabinet ministers approved the plan in an early morning vote, hours after the Israeli military chief said the army was calling up tens of thousands of reserve soldiers.
The new plan, which the officials said was meant to help Israel achieve its war aims of defeating Hamas and freeing hostages held in Gaza, also calls for hundreds of thousands of Palestinians

If you had told me just a few years ago that Michelle Obama would be a presidential candidate, I'd have said she was the most formidable opponent the Democratic Party could put up. Yet, as I sit here in May of 2025, I'm not even sure she'd survive a primary, much less be competitive in a general election.
Things have changed dramatically, and the spiral is continuing for Barack Obama's wife. Her new podcast has not only bombed in the ratings, but she's been using the platform to dish on her husband and call America racist while showing an astonishing amount of entitlement and lack

Last week, John wrote about Pres. Trump’s executive order defunding public broadcasting (PBS, NPR) and whether or not it will stand up.
I’m more interested in the reaction of the public broadcasters: unhinged hysteria. From the U.K. Guardian,
NPR and PBS push back against Trump’s order to cut funding: ‘This could be devastating’
PBS’s Paula Kerger and NPR’s Katherine Maher say they’re looking at legal options to defend against White House.
“Legal options.”
We’ve been told for decades that public broadcasting gets only a tiny percent of their funding from the Feds. From NPR itself,
NPR typically receives about 1%

We have entered a whole new era in our country’s political history. This is something we have written about before, but this current Rasmussen polling offers more evidence: Whites are a relatively weak group for President Trump, as are old people. He scores best with Hispanics, second best with Asians. Sex isn’t a big factor, although Trump is obviously more popular with men than with women. And age doesn’t matter much, either.
In other words, the Democrats’ relentless focus on “identity” is wholly misguided. “Identity” matters less than it ever has in our politics. And if Democrats think they are currying favor with Hispanics by aligning themselves with Central American gangs

Friday, during Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Trafalgar Group pollster Robert Cahaly called out so-called “fake polls” intended to pressure congressional Republicans to back away from the support of President Donald Trump’s agenda.
“You know, it was interesting to watch the focus group, Robert, with Van Jones, that I had in the opening monologue,” host Sean Hannity said. “And you know, people are not regretting voting for Donald Trump and then to watch their polls to say, yeah, if the election were held again today, Trump would still wipe the floor with Kamala Harris or probably any other Democrat for that matter. So, on the one

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared firm support for President Donald Trump’s stance on Iran, which he declared in a post from March, hours after a deadly Houthi attack targeted Israel’s main airport.
Netanyahu posted on X (formerly Twitter) that “attacks by the Houthis emanate from Iran” and warned that Israel will respond at a time and place of its choosing — directly targeting “their Iranian terror masters.”
His post explicitly endorsed the statement by Trump in March, calling it “absolutely” correct.
“President Trump is absolutely right! Attacks by the Houthis emanate from Iran. Israel will respond to the Houthi attack against our main airport AND, at

Donald Trump took to Truth Social Sunday to announce he is “authorizing” the Department of Commerce and the United States Trade Representative to impose a 100% tariff on “any and all” movies produced in “foreign lands.”
In a move that sent shockwaves through Hollywood, Trump deemed foreign productions a “national security threat” to the American movie industry, adding that they not only draw filmmakers out to other markets but also bring “messaging and propaganda” into the United States. “The Movie Industry in America is DYING a very fast death,” Trump wrote. “Other Countries are offering all sorts of incentives to draw our filmmakers and studios away from the United States.

You just cannot make some things up, and this just happens to be one of those stories.
Back in 2021, X and Tesla owner Elon Musk expressed his hope that Starbase, the home of the facility where his SpaceX shoots off rockets into Texas skies, would become its own city.
Now, it appears that's exactly what's about to happen, after an election on incorporation was held in Cameron County, Texas, on Saturday: The city at the southern tip of Texas near the Mexico border is only about 1.5 square miles (3.9 square kilometers), crisscrossed by a few roads and dappled with airstream trailers and modest midcentury homes.
