Who is Cardinal Robert Sarah? Favorite

Conservative Christians have flooded social media with support for Cardinal Robert Sarah to succeed the late Pope Francis because of his strong traditionalist stands on sexuality and church doctrine as well as his opposition to mass immigration and Islamism. Why It Matters The rising profile of the African cardinal, 79, comes at a time of ideological division within Catholicism, as the Church grapples with questions of modernity, sexual identity, and religious pluralism, and also as more right wing political movements in Europe and elsewhere have challenged what they see as the orthodoxy of a liberal global elite. Unlike Pope Francis—who often leaned into progressive stances on social justice and inclusion—

His elevation would signify that the Church might accidently survive the fatal disease engendered by Frank the paedophile Butcher. We can only hope and Pray that it is so!

I may be missing something but I don’t think Pope Francis had much influence on world politics, including the US. The liberals liked him because he was one of them so they loved quoting him, but why would non-Catholics care? My understanding is that Pope Francis stacked the deck on who would choose his successor so it will probably be someone with the same ideology. It’s too bad they don’t focus on the Bible and their church members and stay out of politics.

One thing is for sure, none of us and none of the Catholics we know will have any say in the matter. In my opinion, we are so close to the rapture of the church that the next man selected may very well be the false prophet of the book of Revelation.

Francis needed to speak up loudly in support of families, the basic unit of society and the glue that holds it together. Even more so, he did not feed the sheep of his flock. While supporting tolerance for the underdogs, he didn’t guide his own subjects back to the center of the faith, the Lord Jesus Christ. It’s obvious in the praise he gets from politicians like Elizabeth Warren and Chuck Schumer, but for a lot of practicing Christians, their respect is less loud. That’s not judgment, it’s observation, because that responsibility is not mine.

The Pope's getting into politics should be a focus on the Muslim invasion of the world, which will affect everybody and all religions negatively. Francis was pro-open-borders. No surprise that the goal now is a black Pope.

Cardinal Sarah is definitely the pontiff need now to “RIGHT the ship” that is the Catholic Church. But he’s a “conservative” which is anathema to the Cardinals Francis hand picked over the last several years to assure The Left remains in power. What we need here is a miracle. Pray we get one! 🙏

I agree with the poster who is concerned with his age. On the other hand, we need to start asking if perhaps the real reason he is a longshot to become pope is because he is black....it's what the left would be saying if he was too far to the left to get support.

I would hope that Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan, Archbishop of New York might become the first American Pope, but the tendency to take the catholic population in the US for granted rises to the surface. He is 75 and in good health, so that ought to be considered.

Ignore all media analysis of the conclave, Left, Right, or Center. Unless you prefer human politics over the Holy Spirit. The media narratives are speculative, at best, and usually attempt to shape opinion more than report news.

The appointment, however, of several officials to key national security positions in the Trump administration, who vehemently oppose direct military action against Iran, has raised concerns that the White House might be backing away from its commitment to eliminate the threat Iran poses to global security. In particular, these concerns relate to the recent appointments to the Pentagon of influential figures such as John Byers for Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (South and South-East Asia), and Michael DiMino, a former career CIA military analyst and counterterrorism official, for Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Middle East).

Hipsters posted their own derisive morning routines, huffing on flavored vapes and chugging Red Bull; grannies filmed themselves putting in their dentures before settling in on the john. In a nearly unprecedented move, the Trump administration met directly with Iran on Saturday to hold denuclearization talks. Currently, Iran is amassing enough enriched uranium to make one nuclear weapon a month. Previous administrations would have never dreamed of direct talks with a pariah state like Iran so early in a new administration. They would have favored a slower technocratic process of preliminary proposals, proffers, and, above all else, insulating the principals from any blame in the event the talks failed. Not Trump. He has never been much for bureaucratic foreplay. He’s bored by conventions and processes.

Tehran has played this game before: Agree to talks. Make vague promises. Extract sanctions relief. Then quietly continue nuclear development under the radar. This formula has worked for more than two decades. Right now, the only reason Iran is talking is to stall, to promise just enough to prevent America from striking it -- "We are almost there!" -- to keep its regime and avoid seeing its uranium centrifuges and enrichment sites blasted to rubble. The regime does not want war -- but it also cannot accept total nuclear disarmament.

When now-Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson stated in her confirmation hearing that she couldn't define what a "woman" is, that probably should have been treated as a bit of a red flag. That would have required the Senate to have any sense of shame, though, and we all know that's long been in short supply. Since joining the Supreme Court, Jackson has become perhaps the most reliable left-wing vote on the court.
