Sarah Palin remained skeptical late last week after New York Times editor James Bennet issued a groveling, teary-eyed apology to the former Alaska governor in her ongoing defamation trial against The Gray Lady. Palin, a former Republican nominee for vice president, sued the Times over a 2017 editorial she claimed harmed her reputation. In 2022, a jury rejected her claim, and a judge moved to dismiss the case. However, Palin was granted a retrial following an appeal.
James Bennet, an editor who played a significant role in publishing the piece, testified on Thursday.
“I blew it, you know,” Bennet said. “I made a mistake.”

After many years in the wilderness, Ann Coulter is finally back on Team Trump.
The conservative commentator and columnist appeared on C-SPAN this weekend where she answered calls from the public about her views on the current administration.
When asked by the host her initial thoughts, Coulter described it as the “most wonderful 100 days in U.S. history,” adding that she “can’t believe how great Trump is.”
She explained:
You know, I campaigned with Trump when he was running in 2016. He did ask for a copy of my book, Adios America. A lot of the immigration stuff came from that. Huge fan.

A San Francisco-based drag queen group is facing backlash after its Easter performance, which mocked Jesus and Christianity, was marketed to children. The controversial show, held during the Easter weekend, featured performances that some critics argue crossed a line by making light of sacred Christian symbols and beliefs. Despite the growing outrage, the group has defended its performance, claiming it was meant to be an inclusive celebration of creativity and self-expression. However, the performance was marketed to a young audience during one of Christianity’s most sacred holidays.

Dem Rep. Jasmine Crockett received swift backlash after claiming President Trump is more dangerous than suspected MS-13 gang member, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was deported to El Salvador last month.
The Texas lawmaker was accused of “living in an alternate reality” after claiming Abrego Garcia is “a lot less criminal” than Trump when she was asked about Sen. Chris Van Hollen’s attempts to help the deported illegal migrant during an interview on MSNBC. (Photo) “If Senator Van Hollen can get down there, if the president can get up here and get to the White House, then I don’t understand why we can’t get Abrego up out of there,”

Cake, gifts and a low-key family celebration may be how many senior citizens picture their 70th birthday.
But NASA’s oldest serving astronaut Don Pettit became a septuagenarian while hurtling towards the Earth in a spacecraft to wrap up a seven-month mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS). A Soyuz capsule carrying the American and two Russian cosmonauts landed in Kazakhstan on Sunday, the day of Pettit’s milestone birthday. “Today at 0420 Moscow time (0120 GMT), the Soyuz MS-26 landing craft with Alexei Ovchinin, Ivan Vagner and Donald (Don) Pettit aboard landed near the Kazakh town of Zhezkazgan,”

FIRST ON FOX: The White House is launching a new "Road to Independence" video lecture series leading up to America's 250th birthday, and the Trump administration has planned a year of festivities to commemorate it.
The series, launched the same day as the first engagement of the Revolutionary War in 1775, will commemorate important moments in American history ahead of the Trump administration's commencement of a full year of festivities that will launch on Memorial Day in honor of America's 250th anniversary.
The videos are being produced in a partnership between the Department of Education and Hillsdale College, whose president appeared in an introductory video launching the series.

As a lifelong journalist, I should be on the side of The Associated Press in its ongoing legal fight with the Trump White House.
And I would be if the AP were the neutral, fact-driven wire service it used to be.
Unfortunately, it has become just another outlet peddling leftist opinion disguised as straight news.
And as its fight with the White House demonstrates, it also reeks of a sense of elite entitlement.
The case involves the AP’s claims that its freedom of speech was violated when it was booted from its long-standing spot in the press pool, an elite, small group of legacy news outlets that get near-daily access to the president.

Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina has said that Democrats have a winning message but that mainstream media is biased against them.
In an appearance on MSNBC, Clyburn explained that Democrats main problem is that they are unable to share their winning message with the rest of the country because the mainstream media is unwilling to amplify it.
He explained.
I think the message that’s coming from the Democratic Party is a good message. The problem we’ve got, honestly, is that we have to depend upon the media to deliver it.

Russian President Vladimir Putin's announcement of a temporary Easter ceasefire in Ukraine has drawn skepticism from Ukrainian officials and global observers. Set to commence on Saturday evening and conclude at midnight on Easter Sunday, the truce is presented as a humanitarian gesture. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has criticized the move, citing ongoing Russian drone attacks and a lack of genuine commitment to peace.

I remember seeing the story six years ago and feeling like I’d been punched in the stomach. It seemed to exemplify everything that was going wrong in our country. The bad memory: a psychopath picked up a boy at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota and threw him over a three-story balcony. The boy, Landen Hoffman, then five years old, fell 40 feet and suffered broken bones, severe head trauma, and internal injuries.
It was and remains a horrible story—but there’s some good news. Now 11, Hoffman has worked hard and has been helped in his recovery by hero doctors and his supportive family, and he’s doing well.

According to the new Yale Youth Poll, voters aged 22 to 29 lean Democrat by 6.4 points.
“When asked whether they would vote for the Democratic or Republican candidate in the 2026 congressional elections in their district, voters aged 22–29 favored the Democratic candidate by a margin of 6.4 points, but voters aged 18–21 favored the Republican by a margin of 11.7 points.”

Crowds gathered in Boston, Massachusetts, on Friday evening to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere’s midnight ride to warn that British troops were approaching.
Those gathered enjoyed taking part in a reenactment of the patriot’s ride as he left his home, wife, and seven children behind, WCVB reported on Saturday. Video footage shows Revere bidding his wife goodbye as the two embrace before his historic journey begins:
