Trump And Noem’s Suggestion To Illegal
Aliens Sends The Wrong Message

Original Article

On Thursday, President Donald Trump said his administration will “work with [illegal immigrants who self deport] right from the beginning on trying to get them back in legally.” While that may sound like a clever strategy to encourage self-deportation, it misses the bigger picture — and sends the wrong message. (snip) Such statements completely undermine the seriousness of violating our immigration laws and insult every single American. Allowing aliens who broke the law to have a second chance at coming to the U.S. legally is like rewarding someone who broke into your home by handing them the front door key.

I don't agree. It sounds fine to me. The one that are working IMO are welcome back. The ones who are useless aren't going to self deport anyway. This way we get to pick which ones are allowed back. I am an American and I am not insulted. I m not mad at anyone who came across the border after Biden invited them. If Biden had kept trump policies of immigration instead of opening the border most of them would have stayed home anyway. Now we get to pick which ones we allow back.

I agree, too. Look, probably big employers of dirt cheap illegal labor are squawking and the administration responding to them. I don’t want backtracking on this. Lawbreakers have worn out their grace and sympathy.

I really get tired of the nitpicking of policy. This a carrot and stick. The carrot is, if you self deport, you won't have a black mark on your record if you apply through legal channels to become a citizen. That gets people who don't belong here out, no muss, no fuss. Then, if you apply to enter the country you will be held to the legal requirements for immigration. It's a trade of a straight forward deportation effort for a clean slate for legal immigration in the future. The mess was made by Biden. This is trying to clean it up. As to it being a bad message. It only applies to people who snuck in when Biden was mismanaging the government and allowed millions in illegally. This offer is an extraordinary measure to deal with an extraordinary problem. There would be no incentive to enter illegally now as can be seen by the greatly reduced numbers trying to cross the border. I think they have gotten Trump's "message"; illegal entry is a dead end.

They can only come back as an immigrant legally if they have an approved visa, that almost always would have been filed in their behalf by a qualified close family member, or a prospective employer who intends to hire them permanently or as a seasonal worker. Chances are because they were caught here in an illegal status they would be denied any future tourist visa they would apply for.

I don’t agree with the writer. It’s Trump’s rather Trumpian way of saying you’re welcome here if you have the integrity to ask forgiveness and do it the right way.

Allowing invaders to self-deport and then come back is a very bad idea. With citizenship they have the privilege import many relatives through chain migration. American systems are at the breaking point. This country can’t afford millions more net tax recipients.

With respect, it was the Biden administration that violated the law and enticed others to do the same. I do have some compassion for some of these people. If they are willing to self deport, I think it’s ok to give them some support.

I didn't read the entire article because it was obvious to me, she is short sighted and misses the point. Trump is rebuilding a full employment economy. We don't have the birth rate to provide enough workers to sustain a full employment economy over time. Until Americans start making more babies, we should have an immigration policy that allows people with the skills we need to legally immigrate.

It gives conscientious folks an opportunity to repent and do their first works over. And, it eliminates the excuse to make them citizens by saying they're good people trying to feed their families and other such nonsense.
