Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) issued a warning to all workers in the United States, proclaiming during a town hall that the jobs currently filled by employees around the country are not going to be there in the next decade.
“I want everybody to think about this. Most people — we have millions of federal employees. Most people are not federal employees. And I think many people are saying, ‘Wow, that’s outrageous. I really feel for these federal employees thrown out on the street,’” Sanders said during the Wednesday night town hall moderated by CNN host Anderson Cooper.
“But I want you to think about this. If Musk

No big deal. I have been laid off three times in my career, never because of any action on my part but because of RIFs. It's unnerving but you just pick yourself up and move on. That's why there is unemployment benefits.

Sanders would still have people making buggy whips so they still "had a job" instead of recognizing that old methods of doing things are uncompetitive and people need to transition to new ways of doing things.
Sanders would rather have the government pay them to do nothing because it's a nice thing to do. It isn't! Something that schools have failed to teach in, forever, is that lifelong learning is critical. If you are sitting fat, dumb, and happy in a job, you are STUPID! What's the NEXT BIG THING in your job space? MAYBE it's that your job space won't exist in 10 years. Maybe it will but the technology and techniques will be radically different. If you're in a job that that "does things the way they always have been done", maybe you should be nervous because tomorrow, that won't be true.
And the reality is, in a competitive economy, things MUST always be in a state of flux as the best ways to do things are ALWAYS being tested for efficiency and profitability. Sitting like a toad on a lilypad is a sure way to miss the changes coming and suffer for it.
The REAL thing to be aware of is that markets that have long been closed to the US will be reopening. Some jobs might go away but lots more will be opening up.
Sanders is trying to create fear of the future. There is no reason for that in a free society that has free markets. Of course, Sanders is a communist and they don't believe in a free society or free markets so under his vision, everyone SHOULD be fearful.
With Trump, we should embrace the change. We will be significantly better off.

Bernie, you ain't gonna be here in 10-15 years. Your political ideas were dead long before even you were born, you disgraceful communist sympathizer with three houses. Just go away. You never had anything intelligent to contribute to the discussion. Basically, you're a Brooklyn pig.

Bernie, the guy who was kicked out of a Commune in the 60s because he wouldn't pull his weight doing what needed to be dome to make it work and who has never had a private sector job for more than a few months. Bernie wants everyone to work at a govern job just like in Communist Soviet Union where he spent his honeymoon. Vermont must be populated by idiots.

“But I want you to think about this. If Musk can do this to federal employees, some of whom are in unions, some of whom work for years, what do you think he’s going to be doing when artificial intelligence and robotics comes for your job? Guess what? The job you have today ain’t going to be here in 10 or 15 years,” the longtime progressive senator stated.

Gee how about adapt, learn, grow, train, and keep working, you miserable old hippie commie who has never once had a job outside of government!!
It's what people in the PRIVATE SECTOR have to do all the freakin' time. Companies downsize, get bought out, change directions, change management... you name it. Adapt and overcome challenges, something NOONE in a make work government job ever has to do.

This has always been the case. Walmart and other large companies replaced the mom and pop stores. Amazon has revolutionized how people shop, so retail stores everywhere are downsizing or changing to meet current demand. Times change and if you can't keep up with the changes, then your jobs become quickly obsolete. It's just the way it is, And for the most part, we all benefit from that.

Bernie apparently never read Schumpeter. Job creation and destruction is a natural by-product of a functioning economy. In one driven by innovation, for example, jobs for blacksmiths become obsolete and are are replaced by jobs for mechanics as people move from horse-drawn buggies to automobiles.
But Bernie wouldn't know about that, because the only job he's ever had is a professional grifter. Seems it's the second-oldest profession in the world... and it's certainly worked well for him as his wife skimmed $7 million in campaign funds (per Peter Schweizer) from people dumb enough to believe in him...
