Let’s be frank. While it’s common to indulge in a hot dog at a baseball game, a new poll reveals that most Americans do not know that the tubular meat may be one of the wurst things for their health. “Tens of millions of Americans could eat hot dogs this baseball season, but most of them are unaware that doing so raises their risk of colorectal cancer and other diseases,” said Noah Praamsma, a nutrition education coordinator for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, which conducted the poll.

Franks are otherwise known as "death tubes." Forty years ago when during a tournament I got a hot dog at Disney World Magnolia - Palm course treat snack, a fellow pro said to me, "It's awfully early for those death tubes." The moniker stuck. Because I'm obsessed with my health now, I wouldn't eat anything of that description or shape unless I'm at a ballgame, or unless it's July 4. Or New Year's Eve. Or .... Nathans and Hebrew National are good. With some French's (or Plochman's) yellow mustard.

In an ongoing effort to curb illegal immigration, the Trump administration has quietly begun invalidating Social Security numbers of illegal immigrants who are in the U.S. unlawfully, effectively pushing them to "self-deport." This action is part of a broader effort to crack down on illegal immigration and ensure that only those who follow legal procedures can access the benefits and rights associated with a Social Security number. This week, the Trump administration instructed the Social Security Administration (SSA) to add over 6,300 illegal immigrants to its list of deceased individuals, effectively blocking their ability to work.

I remember very well that day in 2015, Donald Trump came down that golden escalator in Trump Tower to announce that he was running for President of the United States. He had run before; some of us remember his 2000 run on the Reform Party ticket, which he abandoned in February of that year. In 2015, he was serious, and he won, in no small part because of his slogan, which became his campaign theme. Like all good political slogans, it was pithy, packed a punch, was easy to shout at rallies, and it sparked a connection with millions of Americans: Make America Great Again.
