Let’s be frank.
While it’s common to indulge in a hot dog at a baseball game, a new poll reveals that most Americans do not know that the tubular meat may be one of the wurst things for their health.
“Tens of millions of Americans could eat hot dogs this baseball season, but most of them are unaware that doing so raises their risk of colorectal cancer and other diseases,” said Noah Praamsma, a nutrition education coordinator for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, which conducted the poll.

Don’t worry folks. In few years another study will come out and say processed meat is good for you.

One of the most tragic figures is the man so afraid of death that he never gets around to living.
As former dorm-mates liked to put it, "Sport Death: Only Life Can Kill You."

Franks are otherwise known as "death tubes." Forty years ago when during a tournament I got a hot dog at Disney World Magnolia - Palm course treat snack, a fellow pro said to me, "It's awfully early for those death tubes." The moniker stuck. Because I'm obsessed with my health now, I wouldn't eat anything of that description or shape unless I'm at a ballgame, or unless it's July 4. Or New Year's Eve. Or .... Nathans and Hebrew National are good. With some French's (or Plochman's) yellow mustard.

I may go to one Rockies game in a year. I think I'm still good with pounding down a foot long dog with everything on it and chase it with a $15 beer.

Oh fer Chrissake. I’ve been heating hot dogs all my life. I’m 75 years old. I’m going to keep eating them whenever I want. I’ll probably outlive half the people on this thread. Stop with the cancer scare BS.

Hot Dog cooked in an air fryer:
Cook hot dog for 4 minutes
Put hot dog in roll. Put both in the air fryer for 1 minute.
Hot dog has an almost grill flavor. Roll is slightly crispy on the outside.

I wondered how many thousands of hot dogs one would have to consume in what period of time in order to get cancer. These studies always have to come up with results in a short period of time because the research money only lasts for so long.

I am glad to hear it is only hot dogs eaten at the ball park, not the ones the wife and I had last night at home.

I don't give a ****! If I wanna hot dog, I'm gonna eat one! It's flat out un-American to go to a baseball game and not have a beer and a dog! What is lethal is the PRICE of a beer and a dog! Don't believe me? Go to a ballpark and have a beer and a dog. You'll pay through the nose. . .guaranteed!

Educated types are so predictable. If people like something, do a "study' and prove it is unhealthy. Thats how you get published.

I knew a man who ate hot dogs every day. He died. He never saw the truck that hit him.

Do you want to be on your deathbed moaning that you should have eaten the hot dogs? Eat them. No one gets out of this alive. Everybody dies. Some people die from bad things. Life is short.

PS: I am 83, a devout hot-dog eater and in good health. I make them Chicago style — with sliced tomatos, onions, mustard, relish and celery salt on a poppy seed bun. No sport peppers, though. Don’t like them. Once you’ve given up Phllly dogs for Chicago dogs, you never go back. (Philly dog: chopped onions, hot sauerkraut , mustard, relish, catsup.)

I like your logic #18 and #19. Looking forward to my next one. Oh, the smell of the chopped onions and the relish. I'm only 72 but same as you, I know a good ballpark dog when I see one.

My uncles doctor told him that eating hotdogs was gonna kill him! He just kept on eating them and the doctor was right, he died. Took 99 years but they got him!
