President Trump wants to get America’s vast army of “dropout” men back into the workforce. Attention to this problem is long overdue.
Nearly 7 million men in the prime of life — over a tenth of the 25-to-54 age group — are neither working nor looking for work these days.
But Team Trump is trying to fix the problem with the wrong tools.
They argue that trade policy (tariffs) and industrial policy (special treatment for manufacturing) will reverse the long-term flight from work by men, by creating high-paying jobs to lure them back to work.
This approach may sound sensible to some. Unfortunately, it is likely to fail

I dunno, I grew up working with my hands and never dreamed I spend my career working mainly inside behind a desk. Don’t underestimate the Zen and attractiveness of manual labor that is not ridiculed by “polite society.”

I am 100% in favor of having Elon and J.D. take over and reverse what has happened with our Young Men when it comes to having a Job. I have watched Two Grandsons, College Educated and having a first job that was great. Guess What! They didn't like it, so they quit and went on Government Handouts. They lived with Mom and Dad (who allowed them to lay around all day instead of going out looking for another Job). This went on for 3 years! The Government Handouts gave them enough money for gas in the car and a few Beers at the Local Hangout. They were perfectly happy with their Lives! Not embarrassed at all! Finally One had a job handed to him (being basically a Janitor after school lets out). So much for the College education, fully paid by mom and dad. The second one got a job a year later with the FAA and is doing great, but why was he lazy for 3 years? It's Two things. Parents who allowed it to happen and a Government handing out money to able Bodied young men! That has to stop NOW!

One might also blame this employment issue on DEI programs that have been going on for decades that made employing women a priority over able bodied men. Society, starting in elementary school, has emphasized achievement and a priority on educating girls. Boys were an afterthought if thought about them at all. After a while, being beaten down every step of the way takes a toll, and for many, they just give up.

One change might be to hire those with the higher test scores and on merit, instead of passing them over for others, like the government and corporations are doing.

fta: This disability archipelago incentivizes helplessness, and at a terrible cost in human potential.
America’s disability system is so dysfunctional that no one in DC can tell you just how many people are currently getting benefits from its crazy-quilt of subcomponents (SSDI, SSI, Social Security, veterans’ benefits, state-level disability programs, worker’s comp programs — and more).
Before the pandemic, however, I estimated that over half of America’s prime-age NILF men were getting benefits from one or more of these programs — and that over two-thirds lived in homes taking in at least one disability benefit.
---
Not just men either. Women as well. Back injuries and other impossible to verify injuries and conditions. The entire disability system is NOT SUSTAINABLE, period.

Next, they will be telling people to come out of retirement. This is just another example that our government is out of money.

Men have been sissified for decades. Told they were bad, unneeded, toxic, too masculine. I suggest these weenies date some conservative women who will appreciate their maleness. Husbands, fathers, protectors, providers. This doesn't mean a woman cannot chop firewood or a man cook a good meal and doing laundry. But stripping men of their lifeforce has produced a lot of males who are so confused they want to play woman face.

Many are not just on some form of Govt aid, school grants/loans for classes they rarely attend barely pass and never intend to repay, or living off the govt aid of their baby mommas, side chicks....they are also actively "earning" via illegal activities, also untaxed. A good portion of the dropped out sector is an outlaw sector, dealing dope, stolen goods, robbing, stealing cars...aspiring rap "artists". With enough cash to be flashing stacks on social media, driving high priced luxury and high performance vehicles, though in their teens, 20's with no visible means of income. Round up a batch from any of the now ubiquitous "Street takeovers" where dozens of chargers, challengers, mustangs, impalas, bmws, mercedes...various high horsepower imports, draw crowds of hundreds blocking intersections and burning off tires, drag racing down highways, or the mobs of dirtbikes/4 wheelers taking over city streets, the packs of super bikes doing 100mph passes through traffic on the freeways....you'll find weed, warrants, weapons, and no jobs but Ten's of thousands to spend on vehicles.

I experienced this first hand ... TODAY! I am trying to hire an entry level clerical employee. Thought I had the right guy, he tells me this morning he made an appointment Friday to meet with Section 8 and Welfare offices to see how this job may affect his benefits. First, WT?! Second, these offices really made an appointment with someone to review this??? No wonder I can't even get applicants let alone employees. I am competing with government largess.

You can create all the opportunities you want, but you MUST stop the welfare deluge, and somehow convince people to WANT to work.
The other issue is that too many businesses and organizations are run by a bunch of wimps with no backbone--they absolutely refuse to hold workers accountable! And if workers aren't held accountable, many will do nothing all day and still draw a paycheck--heck, they'll probably even be promoted! It's ridiculous, but true, that 20% of employees do 100% of the work, while the other 80% do Diddly P. Squat!

Cut off all welfare. Then they will work.
