President Trump stood by his wide-scale tariffs, calling them a “beautiful thing to behold” that will eventually be largely supported even as the stock futures dropped Sunday evening.
“They are already in effect, and a beautiful thing to behold. The Surplus with these Countries has grown during the ‘Presidency’ of Sleepy Joe Biden,” Trump blasted out on Truth Social Sunday night as he attempted to justify the action he took against around 90 nations last week.
“We are going to reverse it, and reverse it QUICKLY. Some day people will realize that Tariffs, for the United States of America, are a very beautiful thing!”

He should start to watch his rhetoric. So far, nothing has come of this other than asset destruction for Americans. I am not amused.

Because the middle class has been gutted by decades of corrupt politicians selling us out to foreign countries, most Americans live paycheck to paycheck, don’t have any savings and could not care less about the stock market.

Cleaning house gets rid of the layers of dirt, stench and riff-raff, and leaves a fresh and shining new beginning. Bring it.

Chemotherapy hurts. But does that mean you are better off not treating the cancer? Let's be adults. Decades of misguided and harmful policies cannot be corrected overnight. And Trump is being honest. There is no "If you like your doctor..." type of deceit here.

I see a lot of comments from the Left attacking anyone with wealth. Most of the people hurt by stock market fall are the wealthy and upper middle class. This should delight the Left, but instead I expect to just hear more complaints blaming Trump.

A lot of people have their 401ks or other small retirements tied to these stocks, it is NOT just the wealthy. We depend on this to help with insurances, medical not covered by insurance and any emergency that requires more cash than we get in our Social Security. I support Trump, I believe in him and I think he knows what he is doing, but I can't help but worry as we don't have that many years left to make up what may be lost, and we depend on this. We don't make extravagant purchases and take trips, we just need it to help for everyday living when those bills or emergencies come due or happen. I just hope and pray we see much improvement sooner rather than later. Still I will always be loyal to the best president this county has ever had, IMOHO of course.

I had to take some medicine one time that tasted horrible. It got me well though.

Would America rather have continued on the path begun by Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and suffered a permanently crashed economy and died in poverty when the well went dry? Be thankful that you had enough money to put in the stock market in the first place. The sun will come out after this storm.

The unrealized loss in value is bewildering but in March 2020 there was a seismic loss of value due to the uncertainty surrounding Covid and the markets roared back by the end of June. The prudent investor rides out Black Swans.

I'm not rich. Not even close. I'm making in retirements and investments about what I made when I was working. I had it planned so Mrs C and I would not have to get an old pfart job for minimum wage just to survive. It took me 45 years in the work force, but I managed to take care of us pretty well. Until now. The value of my investments is dropping so fast I'm afraid to look. All I can do at this point is ride it out, as last time I sold during a drop it came back the next day and I lost $60k in gains. So I'm just going to ride this one right down the toilet.
Trusting any politician from any party is a mistake. Assuming they care about your circumstances is a stupid mistake.

Dittos #7. At my age, I really can't afford these daily hits on my retirement funds. I support Trump but this needs to turn around fast.

Physical therapy can hurt like hell, but you’re far better off in the end by doing it right. I’m very willing to see this through and get this country back in the drivers seat. Trade balance should be exactly that…a balance, a fair balance.

Anybody who’s owned stocks or has had a 401K for a while has seen this before. 1987, 2001, 2008, 2020… don’t focus on the media telling you the sky is falling, because it’s not.
