Decorum Lost? From Washington's Rules

The Father of our Country, in his youth , wrote a book in which he extensively detailed over a hundred rules of manners and courtesy and decorum he thought were necessary for young people to learn and abide by. The book was Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior in Company and Conversation and one looks at the title, especially the last phrase of it, with a sad realization of how quaintly archaic those words sound in today’s caudron of crudity. Reminder: “WE ARE A SALON AND NOT A SALOON”

Your thoughts, comments, and ideas are always welcome here. But we ask you to please be mindful and respectful. Threatening or crude language doesn't persuade anybody and makes the conversation less enjoyable for fellow L.Dotters.

"Civility" is gone forever, as is any prospect of "unity." The concept of "non-violence" has already begun to evaporate. All that's left is to make sure that we are the winning side. Whatever it takes, and what it's going to take will not be pretty, or bloodless.

It's not as though the Democrats haven't been given the message that they were being uncivil and should stop it. Their uncivility started at least 40 years ago, when they called President Reagan an "amiable dunce"... Luckily for them, Reagan was a genteel man with a wicked sense of humor -- much of it self-deprecating -- and he used to it to belittle and disarm his opponents. Then we had to endure two first families who were steeped in Saul Alinsky, and things got worse. Now we've the other side someone who won't put with their non-sense, and they're reduced to whining and veiled threats of violence. Bring it, lefties... you'll find yourselves in prison for longer than the J6 prisoners after being convicted of *real* (not trumped up) charges.

The first person I saw break the rules of decorum was Marjorie Taylor Green. I warned you at the time. Conservatives will never out-ghetto the ghetto, just empower it. Now we have Al "Geiko" Green waving his caveman stick at POTUS. This is not to say that my insta crush on Marjorie has diminished...

It all started with accepting disgusting music and ratty clothing in public. There was a time people dressed to the nines to go to the department store, pick someone up from the airport, or especially to fly on a commercial aircraft. The norms and standards of our western culture was turned over to "jungle rules" everything. We need to get back to, "Life in the 1950's."

President Washington spoke very prophetically in his day. A quote by MSGR. Charles Pope, October 12, 2016, when he writes the "Eight Stages of the Rise and Fall of Civilizations" - "Family and personal virtue (essential ingredients for any civilization) are now effectively replaced by an increasingly dark and despotic centralized control, hungry for more and more power. In this way, the civilization is gradually ended, because people in bondage no longer have the virtues necessary to fight." America finds itself in the eighth and final stage - "From Dependence Back to Bondage". But God's shines a Ray of Light on the man currently sitting at the Resolute Desk who can restore American Exceptionalism and spiritual well-being, hence a restoration of civility.

This is conservative activist Robby Starbuck’s
secret trick to getting companies to drop DEI

President Donald Trump ended federal DEI programs. The problem is that DEI programs were captured by activists who obsess about victimhood. They divide people more than they empower. “Diversity, equity and inclusion,” says activist Robby Starbuck, “don’t mean what they pretend to mean.” Before Trump ended federal DEI programs by executive order, Starbuck ended them at some companies merely by using the power of speech. Even before, companies were having second thoughts. Victoria’s Secret changed “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” to “inclusion and belonging.”Now, even woke Disney, despite squandering 270 million shareholder dollars on a moronic new version of “Snow White,” joined the mob of companies dropping DEI programs.

Now, with Trump's ultimatum delivered on March 7 to Iran— giving the regime a two-month deadline either to give up its nuclear and missile programs or face severe consequences — Beijing and Moscow have simply been accelerating Tehran's efforts to join the nuclear club and to possesses at least six nuclear bombs before Trump's deadline expires. A meeting between Iranian and Chinese officials in Beijing, followed by Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei's outright rejection of Trump's warnings, could signal a dangerous development:

The CIA claimed to have confirmed the existence of the Ark of the Covenant by way of remote viewing — aka extra sensory perception or ESP — alleging the mysterious and sacred object is guarded by “entities” with an “unknown” power, a recently resurfaced declassified document claims. In a remote viewing session on Dec. 5, 1988, remote viewer #32 was tasked with identifying a target that, unbeknownst to them, ended up being the storied Ark of the Covenant, according to document, which was declassified on Aug. 8, 2000, and has been circulating on social media.

President Donald Trump said Thursday he was pulling the nomination of Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, citing concerns about the House’s slim margin to enact his legislative agenda. Trump said in a post on Truth Social that Stefanik “will stay in Congress” after her nomination for the administration post had stalled for months. “I have asked Elise, as one of my biggest Allies, to remain in Congress to help me deliver Historic Tax Cuts, GREAT Jobs, Record Economic Growth, a Secure Border, Energy Dominance, Peace Through Strength, and much more, so we can MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,”

I remember the aftermath of the Gulf War. In a matter of a few weeks, we'd wiped the proverbial floor with the Iraqi military, previously thought to be one of the tougher ones on the planet. They'd been bloodied not that long before in a grueling war with Iran which ended in 1988. Many serving in the Iraqi Army had combat experience few of our troops had.And we kicked their butts so badly that when the ground war started, Iraqi troops surrendered to CNN. The victory sent shockwaves throughout the world.

The left has ramped up its war on Elon Musk, and it’s no surprise that his alignment with Donald Trump has drawn their ire even more. Musk has become the prime villain in their narrative, a symbol of everything they hate: free speech, free markets, and an unwavering commitment to reducing the size of a behemoth government. The latest attacks on Musk and his companies, especially Tesla, highlight a troubling and hypocritical trend. When Musk purchased Twitter (now X), he made clear his intentions of creating a platform where free speech could thrive. This was, and is, a direct challenge to the left’s previous stranglehold on traditional and social media.

[Ahmed] Al-Sharaa, on taking power in Syria in December, originally professed to be a "moderate." The Biden administration even lifted a $10 million bounty for his arrest, for previous terrorist activity linked to Al Qaeda, presumably in the hope of moderation actually being delivered. Since that time, however, al-Sharaa and his followers have appeared more as terrorists in suits and ties. The country's new constitution, published on March 14, stipulates that Islamic Sharia jurisprudence is the sole source of judicial decision-making. This constitution also asserts that Syria's president must be a Muslim and that the executive branch has almost dictatorial powers. Moreover,

New York City's waste reduction efforts will commence a new phase next week, as the city's sanitation agency will begin enforcing a law-mandated composting program with fines. Starting April 1, residents will have to separate food waste from trash or risk receiving a $25 fine from the Department of Sanitation. While mandatory composting became effecting in October 2024, the law passed by City Council established a warning period until April 2025. What are the food separation rules? Sanitation officials say they have deliberately kept the rules simple for residents. All food, yard and food-soiled paper waste must be set out in a bin on recycling day. What should be separated? President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday evening abolishing union rights at more than two dozen federal agencies and offices, in a major expansion of the administration’s efforts to shrink the federal government. The White House cited national security concerns for terminating workers’ ability to bargain collectively, but the order applies at agencies with both direct and indirect links to national security.
