President Donald Trump talks about placing tariffs on Canadian goods. Ontario Premier Doug Ford talks about “inflicting as much pain as possible on the American people.” See the difference? Tell me again how the term “snowmexicans” is insulting. (snip\ Doug Ford doesn’t quite understand that tariffs on steel, aluminum and auto imports are not part of the “reciprocity” tariff regime. They are an entirely different category classified under national security directives to ensure American industrial capacity.
(snip) Doug Ford might want to consider the end of this continuum that finds the word “embargo”(snip)Perhaps President Trump would consider elevating the conversation to “reciprocity” in the banking

Not a good time for me to visit Canada, and I have the desire and the means to do it. The rhetoric on both side of the border--- Ford's and Trump's--- is needless.

Hey, moochers, what would you do if the US Navy (American taxpayers) stopped defending ocean trade routes?
How many canadian ships are in hostile waters worldwide?

I think Doug Ford eliminated himself from ever being a diplomat. The man has the charisma of a rattlesnake. Good luck, Doug. We can do without you!

Been waiting for years for that little Trudeau twerp to step down so I could finally make a long-planned trip to Nova Scoria. Guess I’ll keep waiting. Still holding out hope for Pierre Pollievre.

Last summer we drove to Alaska through Canada. We spent more time is Canada than Alaska. We WERE planning to visit eastern Canada this summer, including Labrador. That trip is no longer on the map. We will be spending our time in New England yhis summer.

We had been intending on traveling by motor vehicle through Canada from North of Detroit to the East Coast during June. We would have been staying in accommodations in Ontario for about a week. But now we are changing our travel plans, as who knows what could happen to a motor vehicle bearing US license plates in Canada these days? So we will stay in the USA during our trip.

Good. The USA should NEVER depend on a foreign country for any of our electricity. If this idiot speeds up the process of weaning us off canadian hydro, great.

This is the same guy that had to be informed by the Alberta Premier that ALL of Ontario's fuel, of all kinds, comes ONLY via America, there are no canadian pipelines into the province. they will go dark in three days if they embargo. Also nearly all of their food and industrial materials come via USA, not canadian roads, rail, or ship. Just the even temporary lack of, or expense of heavily tariff'd fuel will nip their entire nations planting season in the bud...and their season is SHORT. Same applies to their cattle, and Timber...we have other sources available and hundreds of seaports to get that stuff from elsewhere, they have near zero import capacity except via USA...and near zero export capacity as well. US automakers currently have surpluses of completed cars in inventory. Worth a mention...while we buy a LOT of timber from Canada, rather than cut/process our own trees...they have to buy 98% of their toilet paper from us.(Don't start no Chit)

#1, I'm tired with the one sided tariffs. Why is it that the U.S. gets the short end of the stick? However, I do agree that we don't have to have a p#ssing contest. Maybe it is time for both sides stop and take a break OR maybe Trump should sit this out and hand it over to someone that is a little more diplomatic and the same goes for Canada.

Pain huh?
The US economy is about 15 times larger than Canada's. Plus, as Trump has pointed out, Canada gets much bigger (unfair) trade advantages, so any loses are amplified against Canada. If there is pain, the US will have a stubbed toe. Canada will be left as a paraplegic.
So many Leftists in the world talk big but have nothing to back it up. Think of all the braggadocio of the dems over the last 4 years, and now they are a shattered and impotent party.

The solution is simple for Canada. STOP IMPOSING EXCESSIVE TARIFFS ON AMERICAN GOODS. They act like they are our most entitled welfare state.

Canada has been firmly attached to our economic coattails for decades. Not only that but they are almost totally dependent on us for military support. Instead of being grateful neighbors they have been virtually raping us with unbelievable tariffs and we have never tried to reciprocate. This thug isn’t going to inflict any pain on me. He’s going to find out exactly what kind of pain Donald Trump is capable of inflicting on him.

Funny how liberals always claim to be for the little guy but then when things don't go their way, their first instinct is to take it out on the little guy and make them pay.
