Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said Tuesday on CNN’s “The Source” that every American should be frightened because President Donald Trump did not “respect our Constitution.” Sanders said, “Look, you know, the guys who wrote the Constitution back in the 1790s when nobody’s fools, what they wanted to do is have a separation of powers between the executive, the legislative, and the judiciary so that one person could not assume enormous power. And what you are seeing right now is a president who is authoritarian. He just attacked the media the other day. I think he called CNN illegal because I gather that now and then, you criticize him.

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump offered to let the United States take control of nuclear power plants in the war-torn country of Ukraine in order to serve as a deterrent against ongoing attacks by Russian forces.
According to The Hill, President Trump made the offer during a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, amid ongoing efforts to negotiate a ceasefire between the two warring countries.
“American ownership of those plants would be the best protection for that infrastructure and support for Ukrainian energy infrastructure,” said National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Secretary of State Marco Rubio in a joint statement after the call between the two leaders.
The chief irony of Chief Justice John Roberts’ tenure at the Supreme Court is that the man so doggedly devoted to defending the judiciary has done so much to undermine it. In so doing, he has threatened not only the court’s legitimacy but the republic itself.
His latest such act wasn’t an abomination of a ruling on the level of Obamacare, the census citizenship question, or DACA; a faulty probe into a devastating leak; or a defense of the indefensible censorship-industrial complex. It was a terse three-line statement that may prove the most consequential — and corrosive — move of them all.
