WASHINGTON (AP) — Starlette Thomas remembers coming down almost daily to the intersection of 16th and H streets, to protest police brutality and systemic racial iniquities during the summer of 2020. On Monday, the 45-year old Bowie, Maryland resident returned to the site of those protests to mourn the end of Black Lives Matter Plaza. “I needed to be here today. I can’t just let this go away,” Thomas said, as jackhammers began tearing into the giant yellow letters in the street. Thomas discretely secured a chunk of pavement and said holding it made her feel conflicted.

Comments:

If it was an All Lives Matter I'd join in the protest.

Oh fer Chrissake. Does the AssPress only interview losers? She’s 45 years old and the high point of her life was coming to D.C. every day, five years ago, to protest “systemic racial inequities” and nonexistent “police brutalities”? Doesn’t she have a job? Get a life, you idiot.

They can't even get their buzzwords right at the incompetent AP. They wrote "racial iniquities". Im sure they meant "racial inequities". Of course, they do not question the lie of "police brutality and racial 'iniquity'", but simply parrot it while goofing up the grammar.

How much has all this cost? Wasted money both on putting it up and having to take it down. I agree that it needs to be taken down, but it's a shame that money is having to be spent on this. Absolutely ridiculous!

They whole reason for painting it in the first place was to stick a finger in Trump's eye. Now that he's been re-elected with more votes than before, they're realizing, probably for the first time, that they're not in the majority and might need to get on Trump's good side.

But if you dig deeper, the true story is even more appalling: Columbia is using the prestige of its elite undergraduate school to bring in thousands of mediocre foreigners who want a Columbia degree in computer science, engineering, or a similar field. Columbia admits them because they pay full-freight tuition, boosting their bottom line while glutting the American job market and lowering wages for STEM workers.

A new four-lane highway cutting through tens of thousands of acres of protected Amazon rainforest is being built for the COP30 climate summit in the Brazilian city of Belém. It aims to ease traffic to the city, which will host more than 50,000 people - including world leaders - at the conference in November. The state government touts the highway's "sustainable" credentials, but some locals and conservationists are outraged at the environmental impact. The Amazon plays a vital role in absorbing carbon for the world and providing biodiversity, and many say this deforestation contradicts the very purpose of a climate summit.

OMAHA, Neb. — Looking forward to more evening sunlight thanks to daylight saving time this weekend? Many in the golf industry like the time change, too, and they are pushing to make that annual switch permanent. The move is intended to encourage more evening golf and to stave off efforts to establish permanent standard time, which would leave less time for an evening on the links. And it is those late afternoon players who tend to buy food and drinks in the clubhouse. “We would lose 100 tee times a day if daylight saving time goes away,” ...

Democratic strategist James Carville said Friday that the Democratic Party lost on immigration in the 2024 election because President Joe Biden took advice from the “idiotic far-left.” Border officials encountered a record-high of over 2 million illegal immigrants throughout Biden’s term in office, prompting concerns about immigration and drawing attention toward heinous crimes committed by illegal migrants. During an interview on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Carville said the far-left influenced the last administration to keep the border unsecured and caused the massive immigration crisis witnessed by Americans throughout the past four years.

If USAID was the charitable wing of the U.S. State Dept., why would the remaining senior leadership be instructing all employees to urgently start destroying all records? The answer is easy, the charity mission of USAID was a front for the real operational mission of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). USAID has always been a CIA operation within the U.S. State Department silo. The documents they are now being told to shred and burn with urgency are the CIA operational details of how USAID manipulated foreign governments and CIA assets. This is one big coverup operation.

When he refused to desist, Speaker Mike Johnson ordered him removed from the chamber. Two days later, in a bipartisan vote, the House censured Green. The Congressional Black Caucus stood in firm support of Green's actions and, in their own move to disrupt, CBC members sang "We Shall Overcome," an anthem of the Civil Rights Movement, as Johnson read the censure on the House floor. Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is, to put it as politely as possible, a real piece of... work.
