One Maine state representative has single priority. And it isn’t America. Deqa Dhalac, a Somali immigrant who was formerly the Mayor of South Portland and is now a member of the Maine House of Representatives, has argued her fellow Somalis should focus on putting their own country first. “We Somalis living outside of Somalia must always prioritize our country, Somalia, and think of developing our country,” she said in a video obtained by The Maine Wire. “This must be done, especially by those Somalis abroad, such as in the U.S.”
