Conservatives have been positively giddy with the whirlwind of activity out of the White House over the past five weeks. But if President Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress don’t start focusing on the economy, the excitement will be short-lived.
Not only are there worrisome signs of an economic slowdown, but the public is growing increasingly frustrated with what they see as a lack of attention to pocketbook issues on Trump’s part. Republican lawmakers are making matters worse by dawdling on extending Trump’s tax cuts, which is causing businesses to hold off on big investments. This is a lethal combination.

Trump plans to totally reorganize the American economy and its relationship with the rest of the world. The DimoKKKrap economy is printed money and slush funds and federal jobs and jobs for illegals. That's not a sustainable economy.
Trump is like a CEO who has been hired to radically reorganize a failing company, and the Board asks "what about this quarter's earnings?"
But yes, there is a time problem with election in November 2026.

Trump is focused on the economy. Look at the rare minerals deal he is pursuing with Ukraine. He is doing that so the US can recoup its expenses supporting Ukraine. Same thing with the tariffs against Mexico, Canada, and China. Look at DOGE and all the expense cuts they are instituting. Look at all the investment deals Trump is doing with corporations. Trump is also proposing tax cuts. What remains to be seen is how much the Deep State will move against Trump's policies.

"the public is growing increasingly frustrated with what they see as a lack of attention to pocketbook issues on Trump’s part" - in your dreams. This is a Democrat talking point with no evidence to support it.

Yes there's a problem on the horizon:
when the shooting stops in Ukraine arms production--the dem war-driven economic engine is going to sputter.
Prices will increase over tariffs as well.
But Trump's proposed $5K refund should take care of that and maintain his approval ratings through the mid-terms.
Then domestic production and lower energy costs should be gathering momentum by the '28 election.

The economy--- specifically inflation--- is the top reason I voted for Trump. So far I have been disappointed on any attention he's given to curb inflation.

You can't "fix" an economy that is centrally managed by an administrative state. In other words, you can't fix socialism. And the economy is not broken. It is managed by forces espousing broken ideas.

The article writer does a great job of calling for Trump to talk about what he is doing for the economy. As a couple of you have mentioned, several of his policies are related to the economy. The problem is that they are in the press for other reasons, and most people miss the impact they will have on the economy. There is the move by a Taiwanese chip manufacturer to open a plant in the U.S.. There is the care manufacturer moving production from Mexico to Indiana because of tariffs. There is the reduction in interest rates because of DOGE reducing federal spending.

Everything he is doing will have a positive impact on this country - including the economy. He has the vision to make it all work together for the good of the nation. God bless guide, strengthen and protect him, and all those who are working together with him to accomplish it. To God be the glory.

For those of you complaining about Trump not helping the economy: Ovomit was right for once--you can't fix it with a wave of a magic wand. It takes a while for things to turn around. Killing the Green (Manure) Deal and opening up the oil and gas industries here in the U.S. will have a huge impact on prices, but it will take a while to ramp those up again.

Yahoo has an article stating that President Trump will talk to Congress amidst sagging approval numbers. I guess, like #6, people expect inflation to subside over night. It took the Biden-Harris administration four years to create this mess and now it has to be instant turn around? My goodness, the inaugural ceremony was only 5-6 weeks ago.

The writer is either a hard core leftist or a member of Biden's family. This lefty forgets that democrats are using the courts, lefty Judges, to throw roadblocks at everything Trump is trying to do. One of the biggest issue is energy production and oil and gas leases all of which democrats are trying to block. Remember Biden closed off millions of acres of federal land to stop energy production. Trump has to undo all of that. You see if communist democrats worried a little bit about our country, things don't have to be that hard. Wake up.

Disagree with the urgency.
Trump is focused on fixing the structural problems in government that will prevent getting other things, including economic things done. He could start requesting Congress to take action and we know how THAT will work out.
Meanwhile, DOGE is giving us a defacto budget cut by eliminating dem graft. Trump is placing tariffs to stop other countries from stealing our businesses and profits. These are structural fixes that will take time to play out but will give us a much stronger economy.
All Trump's appointees are making major changes that will make government more efficient and law abiding. These changes will cut spending and feed back to the taxpayer. Instead of Biden's inflationary payouts, Trump's will be paid for by lower spending, year after year.
And yes, some people would like to see faster changes. However, people that have been polled have said they will be patient with Trump to get things straightened out.
So STOP chasing polls. Watch the structural steps that are succeeding. Talk about how, within perhaps 6 months, things will start to shift as everything kicks into place.
And most of all, trust Trump. He ACTUALLY IS the smartest guy in the room, unlike the Biden cabbage head. He probably has plans for all this, ready to go but it's not quite time yet to launch them. You don't start on your trip and then check the oil, tire pressure, and gas. You check those things first, then start your trip, worry free.

Trump is doing an amazing job with the economy. The public is not frustrated, just the Democrats who are grasping for anything to attack Trump. Trump inherited the biggest mess in history. If anyone needs to work faster, it is the Republicans in Congress, who are not keeping pace with Trump.

Did I miss something? Isn’t focusing on waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government doing something about the economy? Isn’t unleashing the energy sector doing something about the economy? Isn’t shutting off the spigot to Ukraine doing something about the economy? Isn’t getting several large companies to invest or move back to the US doing something about the economy? What world do these people live in?

What a bunch of morons, not even enough guts to sign their names. Everything Donald Trump is doing indirectly improves the economy, everything. Pay no attention to the stock market right now, they clutch their rosaries and close their eyes every time the new moon approaches.
