British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is holding a Ukraine summit in London today with EU leaders, following two phone calls with President Trump.
According to the outline Starmer proposed on BBC News, following the disastrous Zelenskyy meeting in the White House, the British PM called President Trump and also Emmanuel Macron. According to his statements, Starmer told Trump he would work with Macron +2 unidentified countries (a “coalition of the willing”), to organize an EU security force for a Ukraine ceasefire; then the group will require Trump to provide a U.S. troop “backstop” as an insurance policy.
Starmer completely ignores the NATO provocations against Russia that preceded the military operation

The heck with being a "backstop". Did NATO forget that Norway is banning the refueling of U.S. ships? Absolutely no American troops should be involved. Sorry Z, but you have come to the end of the line. Who knows what has happened to the billions. Now you want "backstop"? Forget it. It was made clear yesterday that the U.S. is not their patsy any longer.

Not a chance of this happening. The Military Industrial Complex is floundering big time. It's why they lost their poster girl Ms Ladybug Lindsay!
Norway won't fuel our ships, but NATO wants our children to fight for them!
I say no way. Trump wants to end all these conflicts, and get the major powers to downsize their military threat. To spend that money on our citizens. There's lots of folks who don't want that, but the people do!
No soup for Zelinski. Major pull back from NATO. De-escalation of hostilities with Russia and China.

Europe is about to fall on its face trying to drag the US into Ukraine's mess, especially after Zelensky's thuggish performance in the WH. Europe's guarantees are a joke. They lack the capability to back them up. Europe has no leverage. Trump isn't that stupid and it's astonishing that Europe doesn't know that by now. Zelensky is already wandering in the desert. Using Europe in an attempt to strongarm Trump is Zelensky's death knell.
At this point, the largest impediment to peace isn't Putin, it's Zelensky. And Zelensky is expendable.

Europe has become so used to Americans being their backstop for nearly everything they can’t imagine NOT having it. They may be in for a rude awakening.

Seems the UK and EU are given no serious thought to triggering a WW. If they want to play that game the US can't stop them BUT the US can tell them they are on their own and there will be no US troops on the ground in Europe - bring home those currently there will send the message loud and clear. Limit what is to come to Europe without Daddy's assistance and there is a fair probability that clearer thinking may rear its head. If not, FAFO!

My guess is that President Trump is not pleased with Starmer trying to upstage him by taking Zelensky “under his apron” and patting him on the back with 2.4 billion pounds. What an idiot! Reinforcing bad (and stupid) behavior by the bad comedian. I hope our great president cuts them all off, no more NATO aid, Screw Denmark as well.

As for Macron - - he takes orders directly from his mother - - ummm - - I mean - - from his wife - - who may in fact be his husband - - or something.
Yeah - - let's rely on those two.

Does this socialist Brit weenie actually think that President Trump is gonna fall for this?
It’s high time we let Europe fend for itself. Pull ALL of our troops and equipment out, and come home. It will be fun to watch as every bunch of twits in Europe have to scrap all their social welfare programs, and spend that money for weapons and uniforms, and try to get all their young men into their withered armies so they can go and defend Ukraine for the third time in the last 110 years. It’s time to tell them “this is YOUR fight, morons - we’ll get in .touch when it’s over!”

Looking at this in a rational light, I assume these two are planning to act as insulators between Trump and zelinsky the unhinged, and then hold zelinsky's hand while he signs.
Or maybe europe wants to keep fighting to the last drop of ukraine's blood. That's irrational if they can't even supply a peace enforcing force after a truce.
Or maybe they are just as crazy and greedy as they appear to be. Zelinsky screwed the pooch. At the behest of europe or are they trying to save his bacon?

The British PM is NOT going to tell us we need to provide military backup for Zelensky! If the EU wants to spend blood and treasure for this war crazy little man then let em. Russia was the aggressor but Zelensky wants to keep this fight going instead of a cease fire where peace might possibly be attained. He will not force us, and the EU will not force us to spill our soldier's blood on this war!

President Trump should turn off the Democrat operation that has been sending billions of US taxpayers dollars and military equipment to Ukraine until at least it is determined how much of that money has been corruptly “kicked back” to the Democrats, and see what happens?

if we are in the group, then what is different from Ukraine joining NATO which is "no-go" territory for Putin. he won't negotiate. this is just
like the "security guarantee" buzz word talking points of Zelensky via Obama/Rice et al on Friday - which would put ceasefire talks on the
skids. and that is where DJT wants to go. "back-up" "security guarantees" "NATO" are all roads to the same
locus which is a deadend for getting Putin to the table. geesh.

One of the YT channels covering the Ukraine War used to try to cover it objectively and keep politics out. Lately, the channel influencers themselves seem to have lost it and are now showing signs of TDS. This same channel suggested recently that Europe was likely to split from the US and set up its own economic and militiary sphere with France at its apex. Oh, goodie -- the French finally get the "multipolar" world they claim to want -- one with them at the top of one of the poles. Problem is, the French don't understand that it costs a lot more to back up "soft power diplomacy" with hard military power, which France and the rest of Europe don't have in credible quantities. I expect this European meltdown to subside to PDJT's favor in a few days.

Is Starmer aware that Trump has already said he will not commit to US troops in Ukraine? The toothless EU knows they have nothing to offer but hugs and photo ops. But they think they can waltz in and broker a ceasefire and then hide behind our skirts. They are embarrassing themselves and obviously still haven’t grasped who they’re dealing with.

When starmer was elected they claimed there was a 22 billion pound black hole. They raised taxes, changed all sorts of retirement plans, cancelled the heating allowance for state pensioners. Then magically they find 2.5 billion for Ukraine.
From what I have read the British public is really unhappy with this virtue signaling.

I hope Trump doesn't fall for this backstop nonsense. This is just Europe's attempt to drag the US into war. Whenever the US is called into action somewhere in the world, we always put together a 'coalition' of NATO nations to help. Within the first 6 weeks, countries start dropping out, and eventually the US is left holding the bag. Nothing will change here. If Starmer wants to help Ukraine, go for it, but leave the US out. The EU can put on its big boy pants and show US what you can do.
