The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, challenging its decision to suspend federal funding for refugee resettlement.
The move comes as part of President Donald Trump’s broader effort to realign American priorities—protecting the homeland first, rather than funding programs that facilitate unchecked migration.

Oh, I’ll just bet they did. The RCC has quite a grift going through NGOs like Catholic Charities.

All these grifters are suing Trump, because they think they have a forever right to taxpayer money. It's not a charity, if you are using other people's money.

Tough shirt. Catholic's have plenty of cash, pay for it yourselves, better yet. pay to send people back to their own countries.

I grew up Catholic and our lives pretty much revolved around the church but they've lost their way. Supporting illegal migration is just the church's way of adding new members after so many have left the church due to their "indiscretions". Here's a thought, let's have DOGE branch out to audit the Catholic Church and see where all that money is going.

If anyone is still making donations to the Catholic church, maybe they should reconsider. They're using your tax money as well to house illegals. Some of whom may be dangerous.

More and more Catholics are keeping their donations close to home. So the leftists have to steal it from the Federal government.

RESETTLE the refugees to the Vatican. They have lots of lad and lots of rooms for the refugees to live in. Just oust the pope and voila rooms for illegals. And you have staff to feed them and LOTS of money.

They came here illegally so it should be the church repaying the tax payer for accepting $$ from an illegal act.

Stripping their pretense, the Conference is just addicted to the hand-outs.
Not with this taxpayer's money you don't. I already tithe. No need to further reward bad behavior of a politicized organization under the façade of religion.

Interesting approach. Catholic Charities are claiming they haven't been paid for services already rendered. Do they have a contract? A contract for human trafficking. That doesn't make human trafficking legal.
Btw, the 36 trillion in federal debt makes me say I don't care what Catholic Charities think.

A lack of standing should doom this rather quickly. More important, why should they think they are entitled to my tax dollars?

Won't need to 'resettle' them if you don't let them into the country in the first place...how about resettling them in their homes/churches....?

Feel free to say no to them. They are NOTNOTNOT good at money. And they should not make themselves human shields for one party or for a debt of $36 trillion and rising fast. Say no, politely, or say NONO , politely.

As a practicing Catholic, I am amazed at the bishop's lawsuit against Trump's policies on illegal immigration. There is no comparison between 19th century immigration and that of the 21st century. The USA has no obligation to take in any and all persons who arrive uninvited at the border.
However, I would like to comment on the statement about the "Catholic Church is one of the most wealthy institutions on the planet." That wealth is in buildings such as churches, cathedrals, basilica's, etc., schools, hospitals, etc. Would the author have the Vatican sell the Sistine Chapel, for example? The church has the obligation for the upkeep of historic and priceless 0bjects from the history of Christianity. That is a costly endeavor too.
Back to subject one. I wish the bishops would stay out of the politics of immigration and other leftist ideas. I dearly miss the church of Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI. They understood their mission was to be beacons of light in service to Jesus Christ and to save souls.

In Romans 13:1-7, St. Paul made clear that “there is no authority except from God” and “those that exist have been instituted by God.” Simply stated, Law and Gospel designed for the secular world; God created “civil government” as a “servant of God” for protection of mankind “as an organization that abides by the laws of incorporation and governance” and the “church” for the “gathering of believers through the gospel.”
The Catholic Bishops may need to be reminded of what St. Paul wrote in Romans 13:7 about taxes. “Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.”
Further, as St. Mark recorded: “Jesus said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.” (Mark 12:17)
The Catholic Bishops are, basically, seeking tax money that has been rendered to America’s government (“Caesar”) and appears to disregard not only God’s authority as written in Romans 13:1-7, but the directive of Jesus as written in Mark 12:17 as well. Their litigation ignores America’s Founding Fathers wanting a “wall of separation” between America’s church and state (government); “church” seeking “civil government” taxpayer money.
“Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side, for God is always right.” (Abraham Lincoln) May the Catholic Bishops be as reflective about being on God's side as was Abraham Lincoln.

Two things. I spent 4 years in Europe and was shocked at the wealth that the Catholic church is sitting on. Not to mention that the church has its own investment group.
While it's laudable that the church is doing charitable work, they should do so with the donations of its own parishioners.

The key legal point here is whether or not the Executive branch can halt spending of funds approved by Congress. This ruling will impact all DOGE efforts, one way or another.
