CBS News was a dumpster fire on Sunday. Face the Nation’s Margaret Brennan thought the Nazi Holocaust occurred because there was too much freedom of speech and the press in Germany. Then, 60 Minutes decided to produce a segment about Germany waging a total war on freedom of speech, taking offenders away…on a train ride. Finally, there is this pity segment on government workers who are lost after getting fired.

The "we are special" line sums it up nicely. If you didn't protest when the Keystone pipeline was canceled, I don't want to hear your song of woe now.

My son lost his job last year. It happens all the time in the private sector but is rare in government. It should be much more common.

Scott Pelley has long been my favorite fool on CBS Its no surprise he's helping to push this "woe-is-us-but-we're-special" BS. What he, and so many others at CBS/NBC/ABC/NPR/PBS etc so sorely need is an attitude adjustment with a 2x4 upside the back of the head.

Maybe, just maybe
without the US government paying for so much global chaos
there might be less global chaos?

Your grandma might think you are special but I am not your grandma. Everyone can be replaced if necessary. Or simply let go like millions upon millions of workers over the years.

Therein lies the problem. Very few Federal Workers are actually workers. The ones most recently fired believe that getting up before noon, having to make their own coffee and watching the morning talk shows is an actual job. I can't count the number of times I have walked into one of their offices and waited up to 15 minutes until they finished discussing last night's ball game. During the Biden administration it actually got worse. But the good news is that now they might have to find out what actual work is. I must admit that the VA people were better than that.

#6, you hit it on the head. I remember the nightmare dealing with the social security office in Chambersburg, PA. they were rude, could not give a damn, and they had the attitude of "so what, I'm a government employee." This office should be one of the first ones to be shutdown. Horrible!

I unfortunately watched the first few minutes of the 60 Minutes (of Liberal Propaganda) segment by Scottie last night, as it transitioned from the local news station and I was unable to get to the remote on time to switch channels.
What a load of cr@p that was spewed: "Trump overthrowing government" "Unconstitutional" "Being struck down by lower courts" Weeping, wailing, gnashing of teeth, rending of garments.
This is what passes for modern "journalism."
I had to turn this stuff off before I threw something into my TV screen.

How much money do 60 Minutes and Face The Nation receive from our government. They are propagandists.

They should be forced to repay every dime they were paid. Throw that idea out there, and they might shut up. Actually just outright firing them with no cash out is the better way to go. The first group that got cashed out was to hopefully prove a point.

I don't watch 60 minutes anymore--total bilge. It's interesting that these federal employees have time to do the prep and then go on 60 Minutes and complain that someone took their jobs away; but they don't have time to pound the pavement looking for other employment, which is what a Responsible Adult would be doing. Entitled ya think???

Where was the 60 minute interviews by people lost their jobs on the Keystone Pipeline, the people who have lost their jobs because they wouldn’t take COVID vaccine poison, to the thousands who have lost their jobs in the blue cities because their businesses closed because of uncontrolled crime, to the people who lost jobs…. Anywhere else. Nice try 60 Minutes. We’re on to you.

Going off what #6 said - having worked in government, either directly or as a contractor most of my career - I'd say 90% of the work is done by about 25% of the workers. It's one reason it's getting harder to find someone to help. The ones who are covering for the majority are retiring as soon as they can, because they are beat down by covering for people who get promoted because of AA or DEI.

I feel bad for anyone who has lost his job, be it private or public. Especially when that employee assimilated into the corporate culture and acted within it. Yes, the private sector gets fired a lot more often. All that does is make the private sector less attractive. If Mary's husband punches her in the face twice a week, should Joan feel blessed because her husband only punches her once a week?
We have all had to deal with lazy, rude and incompetent government employees. Hell, I worked with a lot of them. They should be gone. Maybe the ones who earn their money should get a break?

Musk and Presidnt Trump have so far missed, at least in my experiences, one of the worst, the USPS! Just got off the phone with a company that was complaining about a late payment, even though the check was mailed in Dec. of 2024. This is a constant battle in my household. I assume it's the government wanting everything paid electronically, so they can track my every financial move, but the affirmative action/DEI workers at this local South Louisiana P.O. are whom I suspect. Invitations, payments and all manner of correspondence never get to their destination. Our local neighborhood group is full of posts, asking if someone got "my package" that the P.O. says was delivered but can't be found. Most of the time, it's found by another neighbor at a different address. I don't think privatizing the P.O. would make it any worse, as long as the private company didn't use DEI as a hiring guide.

“government workers who are lost after getting fired”
These the ones who actually ‘QUIT’ rather than have to go in to do their jobs…like adults? I’d like to see the demographics on all the quitters, kinda curious.

...but the fact remains: TDS sufferers are feasting on the CBSer's propaganda, not be awakened at all.
Red pills are avoided with extreme prejudice by fools and cowards who depend on their herd's fantasy narrative, avoiding reality being paramount!

Free speech is a God given right according to our Constitution. Brennen uses it all the time but, it seems she doesn't want anyone else to have that right.

If 40% of the federal workforce was fired would we even notice? (Disclosure: I worked in local and state gov't for many years.)

Here's the hard reality. The US CANNOT AFFORD to support the special people in government who do nothing to add to the economy and, in fact, are often a detriment to it. The government should be as minimal as it can be because, no matter what good it might be doing, it is a leach on overall productivity. Government should only be doing things that are absolutely necessary that government do. Fortuitously, this also minimizes the ability for government to do mischief as well, which is what DOGE is uncovering. It is only the tip of the iceberg.
Education for example. The JOB is to educate children. Washington adds almost nothing to that process. The JOB is done locally and almost all the money should go THERE. Washington should be out of the education business unless the states can define some minimal role that would be best carried out from the top. Washington shouldn't drive that effort. It should come from the states. The states in return should ONLY provide minimal organization and other required aid to the localities. All other monies should flow, with broad guidelines, to localities where the JOB is actually done.
The other aspect that we CANNOT afford is all the support for the myriad of special interest programs. Almost ALL that should stop at the federal level. The States will have to make their own decisions but whatever they decide to support, they must FUND THEMSELVES.
We are $36 TRILLION in unsustainable debt. We cannot survive like this. We cannot be Santa Claus to ourselves and the world. I would speculate that 50% of what we are spending is NOT required. It should all be CUT. We need a complete realignment of federal priorities and responsibilities. It's REALITY CHECK and SURVIVAL time, and frankly, politicians are unqualified to do the hard work that is needed.

That "We are special" could be the new name of the democrat party since so many of their followers have the same me, me, me attitude.
