New York City officials are accusing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem of "highway robbery" after she ordered an illegal payment of $59 million targeted for illegal immigrant housing in posh hotels clawed back. [Disclaimer: this article is from Politico, so it is quite possibly funded by funds from some government; see Let's Untangle the Inappropriate Financial Deals Between the Federal Gov't., Politico, and Other Outlets – RedState.] Top New York City officials are hitting back against the seizure of $80 million in funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, with City Comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander blasting the revocation as “illegal.”

Comments:

Awwwwww!!! Maybe if they weren't so generous giving taxpayer dollars to illegals, they wouldn't be in the hole searching for more!!

FEMA funds sent to NYC instead of Appalachia and LA, where it is sorely needed. Quit whining NYC. You got caught in the DC Money Laundry scheme. Undocumented migrants who crossed our borders illegally do not deserve hotel rooms in the Big Apple. Gitmo should be their vacation destination.

Only when the Federal government reimburses or offsets costs on that status do you feel that way. It's a LIE and Democrats are hypocrites and even "traitors" to our nation.

When presidents leave the White House, the next chapter of their life begins, that of a former president. Americans don't have a problem with things like lifetime Secret Service protection for former presidents and their families; that is necessary. But in the modern era, former commanders-in-chief have a vast array of income streams to choose from. Again, no problem — people want to hear about their experiences in the White House. But if former presidents have the means to support themselves, how much of their post-presidential lives should taxpayers be on the hook for?

Federal District Judge Tanya Chutkan, in a seeming reversal, is now expressing some skepticism about efforts to block Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from accessing the government data it would need to carry out its task of finding wasteful spending. The Judge is expected to issue a ruling within the next 24 hours. A federal judge expressed skepticism of efforts seeking to bar President Donald Trump's administration from accessing federal data and firing federal workers when hearing remarks from the bench on Monday. Judge Tanya Chutkan has yet to issue a ruling in the case, which relates to billionaire Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)

In determining citizenship, the United States has a very unusual approach. You’re a citizen if you were born here. (You’re also a citizen if you were born abroad under certain circumstances, but that’s a different issue.) That’s a bit crazy, because it means that if a woman (aren’t you glad we don’t have to refer to them as “child-birthing persons” anymore?) makes it into the United States, legally or illegally, in time to give birth – right on the north bank of the Rio Grande, for example – her baby is an American citizen.
