I may disagree with Ruth Marcus, but she’s not an idiot. It’s why this piece is so baffling. There are some Democrats who haven’t lost their marbles, but this article misses the target by several hundred miles. The headline already tees us up for what’s in store: “Trump 2.0: The most damaging first two weeks in presidential history.” The teaser is the killer: “Trump’s second term is all about curtailing government’s power and reach.” Yes, Ruth—that’s what we voted for. The establishment media and all too many government and law enforcement officials continued to treat the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as if it really were the neutral civil rights organization it claims to be, but it’s getting ever more difficult to sustain that façade. Too many CAIR officials keep letting the mask slip.

Politico issued an emergency "Note to Our Readers" on Thursday about evidence uncovered by Team Doge that Politico has been paid at least $8 million indirectly via high priced government agency subscriptions to its Politico Pro service.
Bizarrely in the entire note the agency at the center of the scandal dares not mention its name. Yes, you will not see the word "USAID" even once in the note issued by Politico's CEO Goli Sheikholeslami and Global Editor-in-Chief John F. Harris.

The news you thought was news wasn’t independently and honestly generated. The charities you thought were genuine, weren’t. It’s one big gaslighting grift and you paid for it.
The left is screaming that all these are acts of vengeance. But that is not what is happening at all. Donald Trump is restoring some health and sanity to the American government, and every American owes him a debt of gratitude.
Though few noticed or realized the full implications of what was happening, the nation has passed through an extremely dangerous period. When Old Joe Biden and his henchmen decided to wage lawfare against Trump, they corrupted the justice system and endangered the very idea of a loyal opposition that the majority allowed to operate freely in an atmosphere of mutual respect.

Born in 1918, Spiro Agnew was the first-generation progeny of Greek immigrants in Baltimore. Agnew served in WWII, and won a Bronze Star for his service. After the war Spiro obtained a law degree, and dabbled in politics after being head of a PTA.
Before you knew it Spiro was Baltimore County Executive in 1962–1966 as a Republican, a rare occurrence in solidly Democrat territory. As County Executive, Agnew projected moderation: new schools, improvements to water and sewer, and the passage of an anti-discrimination bill.

In a tit-for-tat move, President Donald Trump revoked former President Joe Biden's security clearance. Trump announced his plans to do so on Truth Social, saying "we are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances, and stopping his daily Intelligence Briefings."
In 2021, shortly after taking office, Biden had revoked Trump's security clearance. Former presidents typically retain their security clearance as those in the very small club of past presidents have a unique perspective on domestic and global matters as well as on the rarified position that they each have held. A federal judge has blocked Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) from accessing the personal financial data of millions of Americans in Treasury Department records, according to court documents.
US District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer issued a preliminary injunction on Saturday to prohibit access, ordering Musk and his team to immediately destroy any copies of records.
The move comes after 19 state attorneys general sued the Trump administration after Doge, a cost-cutting initiative led by Musk, was given access to the records.
They argued access for Musk, a "special government employee", and Doge, which is not an official government department, violated federal law.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed two bills Friday providing $50 million to fight President Donald Trump’s policies — after returning from a trip to Washington, DC, where he sought federal aid money for recent wildfires in his state.
Both bills were passed after a special legislative session called by Newsom after the election to prepare California to lead the opposition to the second Trump administration. CHICAGO -- A fired-up Governor JB Pritzker is going after President Donald Trump and the Department of Justice over that immigration lawsuit filed on Thursday. Governor Pritzker said he had no idea the DOJ was taking Chicago, Cook County and the state to court.
