Black History Month has been a regular feature of life at Air Force bases around the world for decades. No longer. A directive from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, headlined "Identity Months Dead at DoD," wipes Black History Month and similar celebrations off the military calendar — starting immediately. "Our unity and purpose are instrumental to meeting the Department's warfighting mission. Efforts to divide the force — to put one group ahead of another — erode camaraderie and threaten mission execution,” Hegseth said in the directive, formally known as a "guidance." “Going forward, DoD Components and Military Departments will not use official resources, to include man-hours, to host celebrations or events

"Identity Months Dead at DoD" - What a title for a directive, formally known as a "guidance" (Pronouns - It)! At last we are reclaiming the English language. I thought I heard thunder today, but it was just heads exploding in D.C.! God bless President Trump and keep him safe, as well as all those enthusiastically implementing the MAGA agenda.

Pete Hegseth is so right about the divisive nature of these types of events. They make everyone feel worse and are like the racial sensitivity training forced upon millions of Americans by misguided corporations and other organizations. While some people supported these events with sincere and good intentions, I think the Obamas and other Leftist politicians of the world used them to pit groups of us against one another which in turn, gave the leaders more power.

I so wish I could be there to enjoy the quiet. My whole career and growing up on military bases, all February was inundated with that BS propaganda. Everyone knew it, everyone hated it, nobody bought it, but we all had to endure it. The military caused more prejudice than they fixed by pushing this so hard. Dont just order me to believe you're equal. Prove it.

#15 as a Black man who grew up in 70s and 80s rurual WVA I had no idea either. It wasn't until I joined the Navy right out of HS and got stationed on my very first shore duty station in Oakland CA (mid 90s) that I found out what Juneteenth was. It was also my first race riot. Picture it, Lake Merritt Downtown Oakland June 19, 1993. Pete Wilson is Republican governor, Elihu Harris is democrat mayor (friends with Willie Brown) and Bill Clinton just became president the previous November. Apparently, Oakland has had trouble with their Celebration by the Lake Juneteenth festival. While an older Black vendor and his wife were explaining to me what Juneteenth was all about on the other side of the lake the crowd started getting rowdy. It's a big lake so by the time the crowd and riot geared police got to my side I was long gone but not without taking pictures with my 35mm film camera. Remember those. I still have the pictures in my archives. Now I told you that story to tell you this one. Being on shore duty not only did I work with military but with federal employees and military contractors. The celebrating of holidays like Juneteenth fomented unnecessary division amongst our ranks. To save nothing of the fact of how the fed employees and contractors (especially those who voted democrat in 92) felt about it. It wasn't even a federal holiday back then. I for one being a retired Navy veteran am glad that we have a Sec Def who wants fighting troops. Not ones who worry about White Rage, CRT and DEI and racial division.

The U.S. has won a major concession in the Panama Canal, the State Department announced on Wednesday night. Secretary of State Marco Rubio successfully negotiated a new deal with the nation of Panama that would grant the U.S. the right to pass through the waterway without being charged fees. The move, State said, will save the U.S. government millions of dollars a year. Saving millions a year may seem like a drop in the bucket compared to other government expenses - like buying subscriptions to Politico PRO - but it is a major symbolic win as the Panama Canal was a central part

Alphabet's Google is scrapping its goal to hire more employees from historically underrepresented groups and is reviewing some of its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday. With this, Google joins a slew of U.S. businesses that have been scaling back their diversity initiatives, years after pushing for more inclusive policies in the wake of protests against the police killings of George Floyd and other Black Americans in 2020. The company did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. Alphabet's annual filing with the U.S. SEC on Wednesday showed it omitted a line saying it was "committed

They are now selling the entire remaining slug of the highest-ranking borrowings used to fund Musk’s buyout of the platform formerly known as Twitter Inc., marking a significant milestone in their effort to free their balance sheet from the X exposure. The loan is being priced at 97 cents on the dollar

We are living at a truly momentous time in history. Donald Trump illustrated that yet again on Tuesday evening during his press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “You have to learn from history,” Trump declared and proceeded to upend the political order that has prevailed in the Middle East for decades. It is a multiply failed order and new approaches are very, very long overdue, but no one has dared to question it and suggest new solutions. Until now. The most momentous announcement of this most momentous of press conferences was Trump’s declaration that Hamas would not be permitted to regain control of Gaza and that, in fact,
