As reported earlier, former Democrat Senator Bob Menendez, 71, sobbed in court as he was sentenced to 11 years in prison for bribery and corruption.
A tearful Menendez sobbed as he begged SDNY Judge Sidney Stein to have mercy on him.
The judge showed no mercy to “Gold Bar Bob” and sentenced him to 11 years. (X) Last summer a jury convicted Senator Bob Menendez on all bribery and corruption charges. (Snip) Following his brutal sentencing, Menendez stunned reporters as he praised President Trump.
“President Trump was right. This process is political, and it’s corrupted to the core. I hope President Trump cleans up the cesspool

Horse manure. Menendez is a crook, guilty as hell of taking bribes. Not anything remotely related to the political hit jobs against Trump.
He's fishing for a pardon that will never come.

Also, apparently Menendez regularly went to the Dominican Republic to have sex with little girls there.

You can't be both repentant and victimized at the same time. He's fishing for a pardon. Not gonna happen.

Defiant all the way to the point a judge throws his butt into prison for 11 years, then cries like a baby.
He realizes that he may die in prison. Reality has a way of clarifying things.

He's one of the more odious of the corruptocrats, yet I take no joy in anyone getting locked up. I guess its a good thing I'm not a prosecutor or judge.

Bobby. Its hard to argue with gold having been found in your possession with no record of where it came from.

The sad part is that Menendez is no different than dozens of his colleagues in Congress. The real scandal here is he was probably chosen to settle internal political differences. Trump is right but his persecution has NOTHING to go with this case.

He crossed Biden and the Democrat party. Otherwise he could have continued with his corruption with no chance of prosecution. There are plenty of other corrupt Democrats and RINOs who will be protected against prosecution since they tow the party line.

If the gold was not stolen and is his he should not have to explain anything about it. Make them prove it is the fruits of a crime. This used to be America, even for filthy old crooks like him. Its up to the government to prove a crime was committed and he is the one who committed it. Its not up to him to justify ownership of otherwise legal items.

Well, maybe Bobby Boy might consider sharing some info on the "Big Guy". If you know what i mean. They still have congressional committees working on this.

I wonder how he would feel if he hadn't committed a crime and was prosecuted on trumped up charges by a zealous prosecutor twisting the law?

Several years ago, I had a brief conversation with an elected county official. He will not take anything for free. At certain social events, the host company will ask attendee to put a business card in a basket for a free drawing. Either he will not put his card in or he will refuse the gift if his card is selected. (He also has personal policies about drinking alcohol at public events.)

This isn't sucking up to Trump, it's a slap at the Biden DOJ that allowed him to be indicted. Probably his last chance to publicly get back at them.
He had become a liability and Biden's DOJ took him off the table. Otherwise, he'd have continued violating the law with impunity. That's how the Democrats operate.
