Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine are hinging their opposition to the confirmation of President Donald Trump’s pick for secretary of defense, Pete Hegseth, on their alleged concern that he is not fit to handle the pressures of the Pentagon job.
Their paragraphs-long attempts to justify why they are going against the will of their GOP voters, however, pale in the face of their voting records for a cabinet member who abandoned his post twice without notifying Congress. (snip) Both Murkowski and Collins helped Senate Democrats confirm President Joe Biden’s Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, without blinking an eye.

Collins is from a Dim state and has to take care not to alienate the Dim voters who keep voting for her. She can't win in Maine without them.
Lisa and Turtle? Both from solid MAGA states. Both have to personal emotional grudge votes.
Lisa is still holding a grudge that the Alaska GOP (Sarah Palin) rejected her Daddy Frank in a GOP gubernatorial primary.
Turtle hates Trump because of Trump's comments about his Chinese wife, Elaine Chao, whose family in China is big in shipbuilding for the CCP. He bankrolls LIsa's campaign every six years.

Democrat Murkowski and RINO Collins DGAS about Hegseth. They hate 47. Any damage they can do to 47 makes them feel special. Special as a steaming hot pile of you know what.

This right here is what normal people call "lies". In this case paragraphs full of lies!

By all accounts both Collins and Murkowski are covert Democrats when it comes to most issues, so what would you expect? As soon as possible the wimpy Republicans should move to primary them out of office at the first opportunity. As far as McConnell is concerned, who knows under whose political influences McConnell is under these days as he does not look like he is all there these days?

Trump needs to meet with these three traitors on Monday, in McConnell’s office. He needs to tell them that Elon Musk will spend whatever it takes to vote them out of office, so they might as well leave now.

So The Turtle thinks Hegseth hasn't demonstrated the ability to manage a Trillion Dollar Budget, but AWOL Austin did so demonstrate?
Come on, Turt, be rational.

I give Collins a little cover on this. She's in a deep red state and if we can allow her to vote to keep her job, that's okay. Find me a true Repiblican who can win in New England and we'll talk.
Murkowski and Turtle were in solid red states. They had no reason to vote no beyond spite.
I'm guessing Turtle is going back to his old Kentucky home in 2027. Thanks for the good tomes and good riddance.
We need to build a strategy to defeat Murkowsku in the primary AND the farce "ranked choice" bizzare election process in Alaska. And in this case, just good riddance.

Murkowski and Collins have a chip on the shoulders when it comes to voting with the majority. Notice that they only pull this nonsense when they can gum up with works.

I believe Lloyd Austin was black.
How could anyone expect Murcowski or Collins not to vote for a black.
That just aint happening.
No friend of the democrats would ever vote against a black.

#10, I would posit that 100 members of the Senate have not demonstrated any abilities to handle the multi trillion budget of the government either. This seems to be a bit of hippocracy to me.

IIRC, the Alaskans DID primary Murky and she lost, but ran as an independent and with their damned rankeAnd choice voting fraud system managed to eke a win. I've read that Collins is as conservative (a RINO) a person as can win in lefty Maine.

As another poster correclty commented on a similarly themed thread, these 3 are owned by the companies of the miilitary industrial complex. Those companies are so far up the RINO's rears that they might as well appear as the dummies on the next Jeff Dunham special.

The two gals have been on a power trip for a long time, but they don't hold any power now with VP Vance vetoing any vote they share with the democrats now. Keep it up, ladies, and you just might be out of a job when you're up for re-election.

Re: #3 - This is the second time in a couple of days I've seen this argument. Trump appointed Elaine Chao to his cabinet in 2017, as Sec of Transportation. She and DeVos, another Trump cabinet official, stupidly resigned in a virtue signal over Jan 6, 2021, when they were within days of having to clear out anyway for the incoming Biden administration appointees. Elaine's father, James Chao, born in the former Republic of China, aligned with the U.S., which was defeated by the Mao's communists, causing the Chao family to flee to island-nation of Taiwan, along with other non-communist Chinese. James Chao came to the U.S. in '58, bringing his family to New York in '61, where the Elaine's parents established a U.S. shipping company, the Foremost Group. They purchase vessels, built by shipbuilders in other countries, like Japan, and lease them to other companies who ship dry bulk commodities, such as iron ore, bauxite, and other raw materials, including some agriculture products, such as grains and soy beans. They do not build ships and supply them to the Chinese Communist Party. There are many reasons to be displeased with Mitch and Elaine's politics, outside of accusing them to be tied in with the Chicoms, anymore than the average American Walmart shopper. Our trade deficit with Communist China is huge, driven by our own consumer demand. Communist China has been the world's dominant global shipbuilder for over a dozen years now and are now focusing on building Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) carriers, presumably to capitalize on the Trump's renewed emphasis on undoing Biden's pause on producing and shipping LNG to other countries.
