Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) voted on Jan. 21 with Republicans to advance the nomination of Pete Hegseth, President Donald Trump’s choice for defense secretary, but said that he will not switch to the Republican Party.
Fetterman was the only member of the Democratic Party to join Republicans in passing a motion to proceed with Hegseth’s nomination. Every other Democrat who voted, as well as the two independents in the Senate, voted against advancing the nomination.
Fetterman’s vote was not required to move the nomination forward because Republicans hold 53 seats in the 100-member chamber, and a simple majority was needed. However, the vote marks the latest

I never thought that he'd change party, but voting sensible is a good thing.

Being voted out of of committee is one thing. Getting confirmed is another. Between Democrat stalling and dirty tricks, they might pick off enough RINOS (Collins, Murkowski, & McConnell), who knows. Hopefully Fetterman will continue to show common sense and independence an vote for Hegseth.

As long as Fetterman keeps giving Dems heartburn I'm content. Liberals are furious at him but don't want to complain too loudly (yet).

Meanwhile, from X
"Amazing but unsurprising news: Courtney Kube, one of the NBC News “reporters” behind the recent hit pieces on Pete Hegseth, is the subject of a complaint at NBC accusing her of making false claims of sexism & misogyny."

From the Federalist piece linked in #6:
"The answer to those questions rests in the fact that — contrary to its name — NBC News is not a “news” organization. It’s a leftist propaganda machine whose sole purpose is to advance the Democrat Party agenda by engaging in lies, deception, and slander.
In the same vein, Tsirkin, Fitzpatrick, and Kube aren’t real journalists. They’re left-wing political activists trying ever so hard to deceive Americans into believing they’re modern-day versions of Mary Richards. But unlike the fictional character, they have no sense of decorum or decency to spare.
This latest hit piece holds the same purpose as those that have come before it: to sink Hegseth’s confirmation and prevent a reformer from leading the Pentagon.
Republicans have an obligation to reject these disgusting tactics and support Hegseth’s nomination. Those who give credence to the legacy media smear machine are a disgrace and simply undeserving of public office."
That last is a shot at Collins, Murkowski and McConnell. RI(no)P....

1) when we talk about Republicans in the Senate, we need to subtract Murk 100% of the time, and subtract Collins 80% of the time. (Not sure why they don’t call themselves Dems.
2) Fetterman’s attire used to make me crazy. But I saw someone interviewed yesterday, and he implied there is a physical reason the Senator dresses Like that.

I don't trust party-switchers. Remember Arlen Specter? He was from PA, too.

Fetterman shows how ignorant and cowardly most rat politicians are. He read the room and knows that he can cement his senate seat from PA by simply choosing common sense instead of radical rat positions. He can get all but the pure communist rat votes in PA and a lot of Republican crossovers and fence sitters by voting on popular ideas instead of Jamie Raskin evil insanity. Another move or two like this, and he will be more dependable than the fossil RINOs from Maine and Alaska.

Re #8-2, I'm pretty skeptical that Fetterman dressing like a slob on vacation has some "physical reason" behind it. I'm willing to listen, but it had better be good.

That's okay, John, you can continue to hang with the misfits and perverts if you like, just vote the correct way.
