Trump obliterates DEI with new demand

Donald Trump quickly made good on his pledge to sever diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies in the federal government as he is set to fire all DEI hires by tomorrow. The new Trump administration sent a letter to all heads and acting heads of government agencies on Tuesday, informing them all federal employees in DEI roles must be placed on paid leave by 5pm Wednesday. All DEI offices in federal agencies are also being shuttered in the move, which comes after Trump signed an anti-DEI executive order in front of a cheering crowd at his inauguration on Monday.

Put them on leave for 60 days and then you announce that everything that needed to be done was accomplished without them. Makes it easier to justify why they weren't needed.

Pardon the second post, but I have another thought - the beauty of this action is it dismantles the DEI structure for four years and if the next administration wants to revive it in 2029, they have to build it from scratch. Further, Federal employees will no longer have to suffer through days of DEI indoctrination conducted by consultants (all minorities) wearing designer duds and gold jewelry telling the whites how racist they are. BTW - ten years ago, those consultants were paid between five and ten thousand dollars a day for their "training." I had one coworker whose husband (a minority) only worked about six weeks a year (naturally around Black History month) giving speeches to Federal agencies.

How is someone officially a DEI hire? Is that documented in them securing a position? Otherwise employers could easily say they were the best for the job!

The county of San Francisco which I worked at, requires its job exam interviewers answer a checklist whether the applicant is member of a "target group". Follow-up question was whether the 'target group' applicant was passed over, and if so explain why. There is no similar requirement for interviewers to explain why a white male gets passed over. Interviewers' future job prospects are linked to preferred ratios of the county. When interviewers select applicants who don't fit the county's expected quota, that interviewer does not get called back.

Putting them on paid leave…will hardly be noticeable in the productivity of their offices. Closing their offices…the nation’s productivity should increase. I do hope we continue to offer opportunity to the disabled but otherwise qualified and willing to work citizens

Poster 8 is right. "Target group" translates to what we laughingly called the "model minority." Makes me wonder if before long, the only real minority group will be white, straight, Anglo-Saxon males."

Eighteen Republican state attorneys general led by Ohio’s Dave Yost want the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to review the federal government’s list of countries whose migrants are admitted to the United States under the Temporary Protected Status program. “This program has been applied too loosely, allowing noncitizens to live here indefinitely, even after it’s safe for them to return home,” said a statement from Yost, who is weighing a run for Ohio governor. “Congress made these designations temporary for a reason – they were never supposed to last 20-plus years.”

Millions of young men once wanted to be Bob Dylan. God forgive me, I was one of them. [SNIP] But the film misses the true importance of the folk superstar Pete Seeger and of Suze Rotolo, though it spends a lot of time on the way they helped the young Dylan to fame. Seeger, later famous for his liberal ‘peace’ songs, had at one time belonged to the tiny, ultra-Stalinist US Communist Party. He wasn’t quite as keen on peace in those days. When most sensible people were very much in favour of fighting the Nazis, in from 1939 to early 1941, Seeger had been a sort of pacifist.
