Carrie Underwood honored the new president with a rare political performance. On Monday, Jan. 20, Underwood, 41, performed "America the Beautiful"inside the Capitol rotunda in Washington, D.C. during President Donald Trump's inauguration, which was moved indoors due to freezing conditions. After facing technical difficulties that delayed her performance, Underwood took the platform to sing a cappella, asking attendees to join her, saying, "You know the words."[snip] After finishing the tune, the country singer shook hands with President Trump and newly sworn-in Vice President JD Vance before exiting the stage.

Comments:

A beautifully handled, unifying moment- including some of us watching at home. Thank you, Carrie!

If Carrie was not sabotaged by Biden leftovers, then it just confirmed what Trump had said in his speech. The incompetence of the Biden poisonous era was in full view with the Carrie mishap. Personally, I think it was sabotage, since later in the program the band performed without a problem. However, real professionals know how to deal with either sabotage or incompetence and she took the microphone and with a gorgeous voice and an emotionally patriotic rendition, blew the entire audience away. Good riddance to the venomous, odious, traitorous Bidens and their entire administration.

I wept tears of joy and thanks to our Heavenly Father throughout the proceedings. Stood in my living room with my hand over my heart and sang along with the Star- Spangled Banner and sang along when Carrie Underwood performed America the Beautiful a capella. I am so thankful for this day.

I think perhaps it turned out to better, in some important ways, than if it had just been a performance. Carrie has a natural God-given singing voice that she has developed into a beautiful instrument. "The human voice is the most beautiful instrument of all, but it is the most difficult to play.” - Richard Strauss Carrie calmly played hers under what could arguably be said to be one of the most unplanned of stressful situations - in front of the entire world at the inauguration of the President of the United States of America! A remarkable job. One for the history books. She could never have done it without her undeniable talent and professionalism. I admired her for it, and for handling it in such a beautifully unifying way. To all of those people who said she harmed her career by singing at PDJT’s inauguration, I don’t think so!

I heard this while it was happening (I was in the next room) and knew she had just decided to acapella it. She did a lovely job. It's those kinds of moments that I truly love. I remember singing that song as a school child, we sang it along with the Star Spangled Banner and saying the Pledge every morning. I have always loved it.

It got my attention that it was taking too long for the music to begin, and I quickly said, "Just sing it, Carrie." She did it without any awkwardness, and she applauded the audience for their support and help. It was really nice. Handled by a pro.

Microphones going out / sound system problems seem to happen frequently at GOP events. Remember when Sarah Palin's teleprompter went out during her convention acceptance speech? She did not miss a beat when someone thought she would be left to look like a fool. When Barack' teleprompter went out, he stuttered and stammered, emitting word salad that outdid Kamala.

Just as fate brought Donald Trump improbably back to the presidency, there is cosmic irony in the last-minute change of venue for his swearing-in today. The polar vortex that brought snow and arctic temperatures to Washington meant the official moment of Trump’s comeback triumph had to be moved into the Capitol Rotunda, the very scene of the Jan. 6, 2021, riot that Democrats and the media catastrophized to try to destroy him and his America First populist nationalist movement. Who would have thought[snip]Trump would be taking the oath of office in the same sacred place that Democrat Machiavelli Nancy Pelosi used and abused for her devious political games?
