The ceasefire between Hamas and Israel will go into effect in less than 24 hours, said Qatar’s foreign ministry on Saturday. In a post on X, Qatar’s foreign minister Majid al-Ansari, said the ceasefire will start at 8:30 a.m. (0630 GMT) Sunday. He advised people to exercise caution when the agreement goes into effect and wait for directions from officials. Early Saturday morning, Israel’s Cabinet approved the deal for a ceasefire in Gaza that would release dozens of hostages and pause the 15-month war with Hamas, bringing the sides a step closer to ending their deadliest and most destructive fighting ever.

Only an organization like the AssPress would be happy over this deal. The hostage situation will not play out as planned.

Israel must return 50 Hamas prisoners for each hostage release. It's an extremely bad deal. We all know Hamas will not abide by the agreement. I hope Israel then decides to eliminate Hamas all together and take no prisoners.

Let's settle down folks...Israel is not stupid and is prepared for any breach of the agreement...and then...after Monday...Hamas will have to deal with President Trump...which is their worst nightmare....so let Hamas have this shining moment for them...they are still terrorist who killed Israelis and took hostages to be tortured and raped ... just because they were jewish...and the time line is suspect...biden wanted to claim it was his doing that the ceasefire went into effect...

“the ceasefire will start at 8:30 a.m. (0630 GMT) Sunday”. Hamas will, as usual, begin firing rockets into Israel at 9:30 a.m. (0730 GMT) Sunday.

A daughter of ex-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ripped into outgoing first lady Jill Biden over the weekend — seemingly comparing her to Shakespeare’s power-hungry, ruthless Lady MacBeth. The Dem first lady recently took a swipe at Pelosi over the Democratic mutiny against President Biden last summer, and Alexandra Pelosi, the lefty California congresswoman’s daughter, responded by saying her mom is actually one of the few friends Joe Biden has left. “If I was Lady McBiden, I’d put on my big girl pants, play the long game and think about my husband’s legacy,” Alexandra snipped to Politico on Saturday.
A Deal That Keeps Hamas in Power Is Meaningless 6 replies

The ceasefire-hostage deal does not require Hamas to disarm or cede control over the Gaza Strip.... The terrorist group seems to be convinced that the deal will enable it to keep control of the Gaza Strip and prepare for more massacres of Jews. Shortly after the ceasefire-hostage deal was announced on January 15, Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya made it clear that his group intends to pursue its Jihad against Israel. The new US administration, to avoid more violence and bloodshed, must insist that Hamas be removed from power. This can only be accomplished by applying pressure and sanctions on Hamas's Qatari and Iranian sponsors.

That’s what our purportedly most astute and seasoned political commentators would have you believe about the ceasefire agreement that was reached just a day or so ago between Hamas and Israel. These pearl-clutching, handwringing, anxiety filled savants have now become 2025’s Doomsday Squad. But it sounds to me like they all participated in the same Zoom session, so similar are their dire messages and predictions. And so wrong-headed! The esteemed Harvard Law professor emeritus, Alan Dershowitz, opined that “it wasn’t a deal; it was a crime.” “This was not the result of a negotiation between equals. The Israeli security cabinet has officially approved the long-awaited cease-fire deal with Hamas, putting a pause to the fighting in Gaza and allowing for the release of dozens of hostages held captive by the terrorist group for 15 months. The 11 voting members of the security cabinet approved the deal with a simple majority vote, the Prime Minister’s Office said. The full, 33-member Israeli cabinet will meet to approve the agreement at 3:30 p.m. local time (8:30 a.m. ET). Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security cabinet and the Israeli government accepted the peace agreement after negotiators for the Jewish state and Hamas signed off on the deal.

We start this discussion with a note of thanks to the ridiculous democrats and republicans for using the questioning session for AG nominee Pam Bondi, to out themselves on the issue of FISA-702, the unconstitutional surveillance of American citizens. While many will not see it, the timing here is not coincidental. At the behest of President Donald Trump, House Speaker Mike Johnson has removed House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) Chairman Mike Turner from his position. Mike Turner is no longer Chairman of HPSCI. This is a big loss for the Deep State. Remember also, that President Trump had previously announced an intelligence advisory board headed by Devin Nunes

The cease-fire deal between Israel and Hamas is meant to be a first step, and we don’t know what happens next, or the promises that were made behind the scenes. It is possible that President-elect Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have agreed on this move merely as a tactical prelude to a set of far-reaching measures that will yet transform the Middle East. And, most importantly, the idea of dozens of Israelis — including toddlers — returning home after more than a year in purgatory is enough to dull even the most hawkish observer’s concerns.

Independence Day, observed annually on July 4, is a national holiday that honors the ratification of the Declaration of Independence. This pivotal document marked the founding of the United States of America and its liberation from British tyranny and oppression. In the mid-1990s, a song with the same title was awarded Country Music Song of the Year. Performed by Martina McBride, it celebrates a woman’s liberation from her abusive husband. What are the commonalities? Oppression and abuse. Is anyone else sensing a strong stench of these in America, what used to be a shining city on a hill?

During the California leg of a year-long journey across America, I devoted a day to visiting two presidential libraries within a short distance of each other. I started that morning at the Richard Nixon Presidential Museum and Library and a few hours later proceeded to that of Ronald Reagan. Some months earlier I had also stopped at the Harry Truman Library and Museum in Missouri. Every president is actively encouraged to plan and construct an official repository of his documents from his time in office. The resulting library is more than the collection of the paperwork generated during his tenure, however.

The US Treasury Department will start taking "extraordinary measures" next week to avoid risking a default on government debt, Secretary Janet Yellen said Friday, days before President-elect Donald Trump takes office. With the government reaching its borrowing limit, the department would start making the moves on Tuesday, the day after the inauguration, Yellen said in a letter to congressional leaders. That will mean Trump's administration has to grapple immediately with the issue of the debt ceiling. In the past, Congress has routinely voted to lift this bar, but that tool has become a contentious issue, with Republican budget hawks calling for drastic spending reductions instead.
