The swearing-in ceremony for President-elect Trump's inauguration will be moved inside because of cold temperatures forecast for Washington, D.C., Fox News has learned. Trump announced Friday that he had ordered that his inaugural address and other ceremonial prayers and speeches be held in the United States Capitol Rotunda due to expected winter conditions. "The weather forecast for Washington, D.C., with the windchill factor, could take temperatures into severe record lows," Trump posted on Truth Social, addressing the expected cold.

More of that global warming causing it to get extra cold. Gosh, I'm sure glad that they explained the "science" behind this....or did they? It's safer for the President indoors. I fear another "Effup" like in Butler. I still don't trust the Secret Service to be competent.

For Reagan they say 7F, wind chill -40F. For this one, 29F, wind chill single digits above. We get wimpier each year. HOWEVER, I prefer it to be indoors for safety reasons, less chance of Trump getting shot by one of the DemLunatics.

I read, but don't yet know the truth of the assertion, is that a reason for this move was "safety" for Trump and that he has assembled a private personal security detail that he is paying for himself. Seems he's had enough of putting his wellbeing in the hands of the present residents of the U.S. Secret Service.

TikTok has shut down. The wildly popular social video app has gone dark in the U.S. as the divestiture bill is set to became law at midnight on Jan. 19. When The Hollywood Reporter opened the app around 10:30 p.m. ET Saturday, a message popped up which read, “sorry TikTok isn’t available right now.” “A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the U.S. Unfortunately, that means you can’t use TikTok for now,” it continued. “We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office Please stay tuned!”

As I described yesterday, the rebranded Women's March is taking place in Washington, DC and some other cities around the country today. The original Women's March brought out hundreds of thousands of protesters but this year's People's March has less lofty goals. The march, two days before Inauguration Day, is a joint effort among civil rights, racial and social justice, and reproductive health organizations. Organizers hope that the march can inspire people who have who felt exhausted and resigned and that protesters can turn their passions, outrage and fears into collective opposition...

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has told advisers he wants to travel to China after he takes office, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday, quoting people familiar with the discussions. Trump has expressed interest in traveling to China in his first 100 days in office, the report said, citing one of the people. Trump's inauguration is Monday, and Chinese state news agencies said on Friday that Chinese Vice President Han Zheng will attend as Beijing stands ready to strengthen cooperation. President-elect Donald Trump told NBC News’ “Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker in a phone interview Saturday that he will “most likely” give TikTok a 90-day reprieve from a potential ban in the U.S. after he takes office Monday. Trump said he hadn’t made a final decision but was considering a 90-day extension of the Sunday deadline for TikTok’s China-based parent company to sell to a non-Chinese-buyer or face a U.S. ban. “I think that would be, certainly, an option that we look at. The 90-day extension is something that will be most likely done, because it’s appropriate. You know, it’s appropriate. We have to look at it carefully.

The New York Times/Ipsos Survey, which was conducted earlier this month, found that a stunning 79% of Americans believe males should not be permitted to participate in female sports, even if the athlete identifies as transgender. “Thinking about transgender female athletes — meaning athletes who were male at birth but who currently identify as female

Trump aides are calling it "Shock and Awe." There will be 100 executive orders (EO) and other executive actions starting Monday, Jan. 20. Indeed, most executive actions aren't going to "shock" a lot of people. Trump has talked about all of them in the campaign and during his years in exile since his defeat in 2020. The scope of some of the EOs is broader than some on the left have been predicting, and narrower than some on the right were hoping for. The audacious nature of the 100 EOs masks the probability that almost all of them will be challenged in federal court. Even if the challenges are eventually unsuccessful, some

WARSAW, Poland – Hundreds of Swedish troops arrived in Latvia on Saturday to join a Canadian-led multinational brigade along NATO’s eastern flank, a mission Sweden is calling its most significant operation so far as a member of the Western defense alliance. A ship carrying parts of a mechanized infantry battalion arrived early Saturday in the port of Riga, the Latvian capital, escorted by the Swedish air force and units from the Swedish and Latvian navies, the Swedish armed forces said in a statement. Latvia borders Russia to its east and Russia ally Belarus to its southeast. Tensions are high across Central Europe due to Russia’s war against Ukraine.

New York Times Berlin bureau chief Katrin Bennhold made Tuesday’s front page with a “News Analysis” titled “MAGA Forces Push Message Across Europe.” Bennhold’s reporting focuses solely on the dangers of the “far right” in Germany, or at least groups and personalities which she identifies as such. There were eleven uses of "far right" in this article, and no "far left." This time, Bennhold’s designated villain out to disrupt the world is well-known to Americans: space entrepreneur and Trump pal Elon Musk. For the last decade or more, Europe’s governments have been trying to resist covert influence operations from adversaries like Russia and China.
How Biden's Inner Circle Managed His Decline 9 replies

This was all so predictable. It was clear years ago that Biden's decline was worse than the White House wanted to admit. And as the evidence kept adding up, it was clear the people around him were lying. As Chris Cillizza admitted last month, the White House was working very hard to discourage the media from looking into this and for the most part the media just went along with it. But in addition it was also clear that, at some point in the not so distant future, the truth would come out. And so it has. Today the NY Times published another now it can be told story

The Los Angeles Times may not have gotten to the Dem Demo Dystopia story first; we've covered it here from other sources, for instance. However, it takes on more significance in light of the distillation of progressive Democrat governance in the catastrophic wildfires in Los Angeles. People had already begun fleeing California in droves over the last few years, with the Golden State holding U-Haul's top exit position for five years running. The LAT catches up to the political implications for progressives in this Great Migration, or better put, a national flight to sanity:

The US Treasury Department will start taking "extraordinary measures" next week to avoid risking a default on government debt, Secretary Janet Yellen said Friday, days before President-elect Donald Trump takes office. With the government reaching its borrowing limit, the department would start making the moves on Tuesday, the day after the inauguration, Yellen said in a letter to congressional leaders. That will mean Trump's administration has to grapple immediately with the issue of the debt ceiling. In the past, Congress has routinely voted to lift this bar, but that tool has become a contentious issue, with Republican budget hawks calling for drastic spending reductions instead.
