Democrat Sen. Mazie Hirono of Hawaii faced mockery on social media on Thursday over her opening questions to Interior Secretary nominee Doug Burgum during his confirmation hearing. "As part of my responsibilities to ensure the fitness of nominees before any of the committees on which I sit, I ask the following two initial questions," Hirono said to Burgum on Thursday. "First is, since you became a legal adult, have you ever made unwanted requests for sexual favors or committed any verbal or physical harassment or assault of a sexual nature?"
"No, senator, I have not," Burgum responded.
"Have you ever faced discipline or entered into a settlement related to

If nothing else, the last several years has outed some terrifyingly stupid members of our legislature. We've identified our problem but will we fix it?

What did she think about Ted Kennedy's conduct, Biden's involvement in the "waitress sandwich" episode and other questionable conduct, Bill Clinton's serial sexual abuses of his power and his office, and on and on and on.
Hirono is a fool who has never \belonged in the Senate of the United States. If she is the best Hawaii can do, Hawaii should not be a state,

Seems like a gotchya set-up. Unwanted requests...? Sometimes one doesn't know unless they ask. Different from demanding further if refused, but that's not how Mazie stated her question.

Senator Hirono imagines everyone conducts themselves as does her fellow Congressional colleagues. With that, it is understandable she would ask these questions.

The media report this as a matter of course, seemingly oblivious (or unconcerned) that congressional laws prohibit the same question from being asked in job interviews. Political theater of the absurd.

Amen #4. Maybe she would do well to ask her fellow Senators because someone is doing IT! $22 million used from the account to cover their (and the House) sexual issues with the help.

Her obsession with sex is most likely due to my guess that, with a face like that, she isn’t getting any.

Yall really think she has the sense to come up with these questions herself !!???
She’s the Communists’ Stooge-in-Residence. They give her The Script, and she reads it line for line. Note that it’s the same, but varied, line of questions to everyone.

The Brick Tamlan (from “Anchorman”) of politicians. Quite simply, the stupidest of the eternally stupid.
Hawaiians should be ashamed of themselves to vote this dolt in. Must be the spam musubi.

#13 That article really doesn't answer the question. AND they are still at it! That article says $17 million has been used. Not long ago I saw it is up to $22 million. There are some very rich secretaries/assistants walking around on Capitol Hill. I'm sure it didn't go to the janitorial help.

Hirono need to ask these same questions of every member of the Senate before they start questioning nominees during their confirmation hearings. Congress needs to be held to the same standards that Hirono expects of the nominees. I highly doubt that most of the Senate / House would pass her purity test.
