On Thursday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Greenland Prime Minister Múte Egede stated that while they don’t want to be a part of America, there are a lot of areas for cooperation, including on boosting defense in the Arctic region and greater American partnership with regards to Greenland’s minerals.
Egede said that a strong partnership between the U.S. and Greenland is crucial, but “We don’t want to be Danes. We don’t even want to be Americans. We want to be Greenlanders. But we know that we have a lot…to cooperate together with, especially with the defense and security for the last years, we also have a strong

We want to be just like Europe, taking Americans’ blood and treasure and giving nothing in return except scorn and derision.

I would say that they should vote (freely with no cheating) on their future. But it seems very likely, that they do want a closer relationship with us for protection. They will be willing to pay for that in mineral wealth and military presence. Its also likely that they have oil within their geographical influence too. Put China and Russia on notice up there.

There are only about 57,000. Denmark has already said that it is up to Greenland. I would think the residents there would love to become a part of the US.

The Greenlanders have an interesting choice to make. In simple terms, as an American protectorate (or similar) this would keep the chicoms and russkies out of Greenland while quality skilled jobs and improved way of life can be created for the locals. I would also think that Europe in general would find such a partnership as critical from a defense perspective.

Remember how crazy we were to acquire Alaska? Crazy, like a fox! And even though I wouldn’t want Greenland to join us against their will, just think how much we could incentivize each and every one of them with the money we squander in a single year on illegal immigrants. And consider how much money we have dumped into Ukraine, prolonging a war they can’t win. If done right, the cost/benefit could be a no-brainer that approaches Alaska. And if it weren’t for Trump, we wouldn’t even be having these conversations.

The Greenlanders should talk with the Samoans about whether or not to join the U.S. as a territory.

In my opinion, just the fact that this is being discussed shows the creativity and brilliance of Trump. And he isn't even sworn in yet.

There is no reason that the US needs to own Greenland. What we do need is for Greenland to be independent of Denmark and thus not subject to the dictates of the EU. Greenlanders would be strong partners with the US as they know they will benefit for US mining, defense installations, and other uses of their natural resources. I think this is moving in the right direction. For those who think this is the same as the Alaska purchase, I remind them it is no longer the 1800s.

I'm thinking that America should take Greenland...either by paying off Denmark in cash...or by military means...it's vital for our security and that's what counts...no politician should be able to decide what the people of Greenland want...and based on Donal Trump Jr.'s trip...I'm hearing the real folk want to be part of America...so let's put it up to a vote...with no cheating...one day voting...paper ballots...and proof of citizenship...

A deal might pay for itself if you allow mining. All the 'Save the Planet' types will demand no mining to keep Greenland from melting. Can see that happening considering there is a faction in our government that actively wants America to fail.

Let's pray that the Greenlanders are not just takers of American generosity. We are so sick of giving millions of dollars to foreign countries who hate us. They can hate us without us paying them.

#11... I disagree, for two reasons: 1.) Panama is an independent country that is already violating its Treaty obligations to us by leasing control of both ends of the canal to China. There is ample reason to be skeptical about the actions that might be taken by future Greenland governments should it become a sovereign territory independent of either the US or Denmark; 2.) There is always a danger of a future US president being passive to pacifist and permitting Russian or Chinese encroachment in a sovereign Greenland to endanger US national security. Better for it to be recognized territory under our sovereign control both to keep adversaries out and make sure that even weak US presidents must defend it.

Making any deal with Greenland, if strong enough, might prevent a future incident like the Cuban missile crisis back in the '60s.

Yeah... and if the U.S. isn't interested or doesn't offer enough "partnershhip," then the Greenlanders will try Red China. It's an old game.

If the people of Greenland are to become the US newest welfare recipients, then NO!! If we take possession of Greenland, the Dems will want to turn it into a new state, which mean 2 more Dems senators and a Dem House member. Just having to change our flag configuration to accommodate them will cost untold millions/billions! Tread lightly!
