Puerto Rico’s governor has called on President-elect Donald Trump to respond after Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro threatened to invade the U.S. territory. Governor Jenniffer González-Colón called on Trump’s administration to “swiftly respond and make clear to the Maduro narco-regime that the U.S. will protect American lives and sovereignty and won’t bow down to petty, murderous thugs” in a letter addressed to the president-elect Monday. González-Colón called Maduro’s threat “an open threat to the United States, our national security and stability in the region.”

I don’t think that Maduro, the bus driver, knows geography, to be making that threat. It would be like invading Florida. He better do it while Biden is still “president” if he has any chance of getting away with it.

Clinton should never have closed down Naval Station Roosevelt Roads, PR but as the US Navy warned him - if you cave into Al Sharpton's protests about using Vieques Island as a bombing range (since the 1930s) then no need to keep NAVSTA RR open. That base pumped a lot of money (and good jobs) into the local economy. It was our only naval base in the Caribbean and close to Central and South America.

As #5 remarked, Venezuela during the Biden-Harris Administration has already been silently invading the USA using masses to illegal aliens, with Biden just the other day helping with that Venezuelan effort by misusing the US Immigration laws by granting Venezuelan illegal aliens a status that would allow them to remain in the USA over the length of Trump’s upcoming term in office. For sure once Trump is inaugurated, Venezuela will quickly change its tune about invading Puerto Rico.

In October 1983 there was a man in Grenada named Maurice Bishop who was put in as PM by Fidel Castro. Ronald Raegan didn't like that. Instead of sending Bishop a diplomatic note Raegan instead sent the 82nd Airborne Division to settle the issue. Maurice Bishop's left wing government fell. Surprise! Surprise! It's long overdue for the U.S. to settle the abomination that is Venezuela. I hope Trump will find the correct pretext to right this issue. We have tolerated a Marxist Venezuela for far too long.

Labour has U-turned over university free speech as it brings back a Tory law clamping down on ‘woke’ cancel culture – but removes its “teeth” by dropping the ability of academics to sue their institutions. Labour told woke students they cannot “shut down” debate on university campuses today as ministers U-turned and revived a Tory law protecting freedom of speech. Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson confirmed she would bring in most sections of the Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act 2023 after a major revolt by academics.

People who are familiar with my work are aware that, put mildly, I'm not very fond of present day Democrats. In fact, I think that if we could time travel some prominent Democrats from the 1980s or early 1990s to 2025, they would be repulsed by the likes of Dick Durbin, Adam Schiff, and Mazie Hirono. I'm not asserting that all Democrats back in the day were great people (Teddy Kennedy, anyone?), I'm merely saying that they weren't all awful people when I first became politically aware and active. They're all awful now.

That the attacks are jihadist is rarely mentioned, or only briefly. Then everything gets forgotten until the next jihadist attack. In many American universities, tenured professors have openly supported radical Islam for years, described Hamas as a liberation movement, supported terrorism, shown their hatred of the United States and brainwashed students. Radical imams in many US mosques have incited their followers to hate and even murder Jews, and appear to be trying to legitimize jihad. Political Islam, support for Islamic terrorism and incitement to jihad -- Islamic holy war -- need to be squarely faced and defeated.

Gov. Hochul’s State of the State address Tuesday was another display of empty promises and political posturing. Instead of bold solutions, Hochul doubled down on the same disastrous policies that have made our state unaffordable, unsafe and unlivable. Though the governor frequently talks about affordability, New York remains the highest-taxed state in the nation. Skyrocketing property taxes are squeezing family budgets, small businesses are strangled by red tape, and residents are fleeing at a record pace.
