The City of Los Angeles cut funding for its fire department and allocated thousands of dollars to various progressive programs, including a “Midnight Stroll Transgender Cafe” and a Gay Men’s Chorus. Fires swept through Southern California on Wednesday, destroying hundreds of homes in Los Angeles County, and high winds only fueled the destruction. The Democratic mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, was slammed for slashing the Los Angeles Fire Department’s (LAFD) budget by $17.6 million for fiscal year 2024 to 2025, Fox 11 reported, citing LA City Controller Kenneth Mejia.

All the focus on the gay community (and the black community and the green community), they lost sight of the greater Los Angeles community. Elect people that GOVERN and this wouldn't happen. People that govern know they have to look out for EVERYONE. LA elected people that played politics and pandered for their votes and money. A whole lot of people are going to get voted out in California come election time. Backlash coming.

I don't agree with you #4. I think there are conservatives but they just can't get ahead of the mail in ballots and other election hinky stuff. Maybe this will make a difference, but doubt it. Few democrats change their stripes, no matter what.

They spent monies on foolishness - now, of course, Biden shows up like a fairy godmother dispensing buckets of 'federal' money to cover damages. Which means, like it or not - all the foolishness is redistributed to OUR financial obligation. Again.

This sort of thing always happens when one has a bottomless taxpayer checkbook and no accountability. The waste I've seen is staggering. I was the approval authority for computer equipment in my squadron in the late 1990s. I turned down 5 pentium laptops at $5000 each because the justification was weak and the end users were barely literate. Their 486 DX/100s were plenty for what they did. Not long after I got called in by the colonel and told to approve everything.

Why weren't the water systems sized to deal with this sort of a fire? It's obvious that this is a substantial, ongoing risk for this area, and yet their fire water capability was apparently only adequate for the occasional single home fire and for daily residential use.
And will these people blame their leaders for a lack of planning? Or will this be put up to "climate change" and "you have to get an EV"? I'm waiting for the first "Trump's fault" claim. Any chance that they'll vote differently?
My wife just said that she saw a drone view of a burned neighborhood. Many dozens of homes were burned, but four homes were unburned, each with a red tile roof. I wonder if this is the biggest factor on preventing homes from burning? I would have to guess that they also had their foliage cut back away from the homes. I wonder why a rainbird sprinkler on a pole at the peaks of the roof connected to a swimming pool with a gasoline powered private water pump could wet the house and grounds well enough to squelch the embers?
This method has been effective in the Canadian wilds when cabins are near a lake. They put steel piping, kept dry to avoid freezing and a gasoline pump out on a pier into the lake. If a forest fire is coming, they start the pump and start wetting the area a few hours before it arrives.

This should be a massive wake-up call for Californians. But will they heed it?

Sometimes the lessons life gives you are very difficult...as Los Angeles has found out...while the three DEI hires in control of Los Angeles are busy making themselves feel good...the city is burning...kinda like Nero playing his instrument while Rome burned and then like new scum...blaming others for HIS call on fish safety and water denial....and Karen Bass and her sorority sisters not understanding what their jobs were..is just to...can't think of a word........how about inept!!

Be very wary - - if a homosexual male or female tries to carry you out of a burning building.
You may want to stay in the fire.
