Chuck Schumer Denies Deliberately Misleading

One of America’s most powerful Democrats is denying he deliberately misled the American public when he touted lame-duck President Joe Biden’s mental acuity last year. Senator Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.), the outgoing Senate Majority Leader, defended the legacy of Biden, 81, during an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday where he was confronted on past comments praising Biden’s mental capacity. “His mental acuity is great, it’s fine, it’s as good as it’s been over the years,” Schumer said in a February 2024 press conference that NBC played back to him.

What ELSE should we expect? If Chuckie were to admit he lied, it would start a chain reaction of destruction of dems, media, the Deep State, etc. It is certainly clear that the people around Biden were trying to hide his problems from everyone. But it's one thing to dance around the issue and claim reassurances from people around Biden as to his capability. But to provide first hand account lies of Biden being, let's see, the "smartest guy in the room", is crass lying at it's worst. Biden throughout his whole career was NEVER the smartest guy in the room. Biden has always been a ruthless, dim bulb who used his political power to control and influence people. We need to REMEMBER what the dems are; liars, cheaters, plotters, opportunists, anti American. When they are caught at it, they try to whistle part the graveyard but in their extremis to destroy Trump they were out of control and they were grossly exposed. And not all the facts are in yet as to how far they went and what criminal lines they crossed. Chuckie should remember that he and other dems don't have immunity for their dirty deeds.

The best response to this comes from a 10/13/23 National Review article by Armond White in which he wrote "Our political media become laughable at some point. It happens when we watch Norah O’Donnell batting her eyelashes, Christiane Amanpour being imperious to her guests, George Stephanopoulos launching gotcha questions as he leans almost horizontal from a sniper’s position, or Kristen Welker insisting that her job promotion from MSNBC White House correspondent to Meet the Press anchor is a victory for feminism. These preeners are not scholars; they’re actors, using politics for the comedy of self-satisfaction. If you’re in the right skeptical mood, they turn the Sunday-morning political TV-talk-show format into unscripted sitcoms." Spot on, Mr White, we thank you."

One suspects he's quite used to them, but even for President-elect Donald Trump, Thursday has been a busy day. While he spent the morning, along with his wife Melania, at the funeral services for former President Jimmy Carter and later in the day announcing additional appointments to his incoming administration, a bevy of legal decisions was being made regarding him. First, the New York Court of Appeals denied his request to stay the sentencing in his Manhattan criminal case (set for Friday morning). Then, the Supreme Court did the same, just as the 11th Circuit denied his co-defendants' efforts to block the release of (former) Special Counsel Jack Smith's "Final Report."

He's already the second president to serve non-consecutive terms (Grover Cleveland), the first Republican to win the popular vote in 20 years, and the first president re-elected after an impeachment (and the first to be impeached twice). Trump could mark another historic achievement soon -- at least in terms of his own history. According to the poll tracking at FiveThirtyEight, Trump may have become more popular than unpopular for the first time in his political life.
